  1. Saturday, I went to the Self Magazine Workout in the Park here in NYC (Central Park). We did a total of 2 1/2 hrs worth of exercise (7 classes @ 20 min each!) It was my first time attending the event, and it was a blast! My body is definitely feeling it. I will def be a repeat offender.

We knew we wanted April or May. We had three dates as options, according to our vacation time at work and May 15th, worked for us and the resort. Now, I actually like May 15, 2010!
  3. I didn't think about removing the panel. You ladies gave me a great idea! How many brides are removing it and does anyone have any pics?

We won't be using a travel agent since it's only the two of us. It does make sense if you are having a group. For those that are looking for simple dresses, alot of designers have a destination line for beach brides. Some examples are Alfred Angelo, Maggie Sottero, Dessy, Nicole Miller, David's Bridal. I, myself, wanted a destination dress but when I started trying on wedding dresses, I didn't like the way they looked on me and they didn't make me feel like a bride. The one I chose is A-line and not one I would have picked out initially. So, there may be one you like but you won't really know until you go try it on. Either way, it was so much fun trying on dresses!

Here is what I spent. I could have saved more if I did my own hair, didn't buy any new lingerie and skipped the hotel. But, it was completely worth it. My fiance and I also had the best night at the hotel later on. $175 - photographer laura ivanova | MINNEAPOLIS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER + MINNESOTA DESTINATION WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER $150 - W hotel room (could have gotten smaller room for $103) $55 - hair @ Brian Graham Salon $0 - makeup @ mac counter $40 - pedicure and manicure $50 - bra and panty set $30 - 3 pairs of new VS underwear $0 - heels, props, some clothes $50 - BD book on Blurb with 68 pages and premium paper (includes 2 day shipping) TOTAL - $550 For all that you received, I think you paid a pretty reasonable price. Can't wait to see teasers!!!

First of all I found out that about 8 people had backed out of my RM wedding in 3 months because of the swine or whatever its called flu (we don't have that many going as is). Three months away!!!! Not only that, one of the guests is my only brother and his bitch of a wife that I can't stand. I really want my brother and cousin to be there and all of the ones that canceled said that if I move it somewhere else that is safe from the swine flu, they will come. Soooo after crying, constantly staying on the computer searching, FI and I decided to change our wedding to Jamaica. While I was on the phone with my TA this morning telling her about our possible switch and getting rates I said don't worry about my best friend and her husband-that I will talk to them about everything today and let them know about the switch myself instead of letting the TA call them. Well, the TA then informed me that my friend and her husband have called and talked to her, but NEVER BOOKED. Not even $1. These are friends that have LIED to us. They said that they booked months ago and I never checked up on it because I believed them. They called Tyler and I the day they "booked" and said that they were soooo excited and they had just dropped off the money and fully paid. They lied to us. I am so sad. I was wondering why my friend hadn't called me freaked out yet (she is a panic type person)-it is because they never booked. I am speechless. Okay getting back to my brother and wife and close cousin and her husband....they said that they would go ANYWHERE-but just not Mexico. I spent all that time and energy and tears and decided on Jamaica and my mom called and told them the good news and my SIL said that they are NOT GOING AT ALL. That Jamaica is "dirty" and "she has never heard anything good about it" -her words not mine. I am beyond pissed. She told my mom that if we move it to Florida that they will go (they aren't from Florida, i guess that is just where she picked for me to have my own wedding). WTF!!! She also stupidly said that Jamaica "will be hit by a hurricane along with Cuba" WTF? Where does she think Florida is? Does she think its immune from hurricanes! Whoever gave her two degrees is retarded. So them. I don't even care anymore. My wonderful parents, sister, and Tyler's wonderful parents and brother are going to Jamaica in all our glory!! I don't care who is there! Screw the liars and negative Nancy's! Thanks for listening. My eyes are red from tears and it feels so good to vent to y'all. Oh my! This is beyond horrible!! I'm so sorry you are going through all this when you shouldn't be. Where is the loyalty from your "best friend?" They lied unnecessarily. This is reason enough to go elope! At least you know the few people who will be loyal to you and your FI, they are obviously the ones that will stick with you through thick and thin. If I were you, I would keep the location or if you want to be safe, change it but just have your parents, sister, and his parents at the wedding. Don't tell anyone else. them! Each day, I thank my lucky stars that FI and I are doing it alone!!!!!!!!!!! I don't want to have to deal with this type of BS that's for sure.
  10. Wow, this situation sucks for you both! It should be fun, not stressful. I can relate as I have flaky friends myself that will be all gung ho one minute and they back out last minute. Those who love you will be there and you both should do what makes you happy. I know you don't want to plan your own b-party, but unless you have someone else that's dependable, then it sounds like the only option you'll have. I say go for it and plan your own night out!! Most likely, no one can do it better than you anyway.

Lots of questions! lol Here is a thread that talks all about uploading signatures, pictures, etc. http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t32313 Yes, I have purchased my dress; just last Saturday actually. I'm so excited - although the wedding is still a year away, I had the fear I wasn't going to find one I truly loved. I see we're getting married at the same resort! Congrats! I would suggest booking as soon as you have a date because they can book up pretty quickly. The only thing is that if you are going to have a civil ceremony, sometimes the judge doesn't hold a date if it's more than a year away. I would suggest emailing your WC and finding out availability. It's just my FI and I that are going to DR; no guests. When we get back, we will have a casual, BBQ party...like a celebration for all of our friends and family.

  14. Oh wow!!! You have great results, and your hair looks healthier. Hmm...maybe I should look into this too. My hair is naturally curly...and whenever I go to DR I don't even bother straightening it becuase I know it's going to be one frizzy mop as soon as I hit the tarmac! Keep us posted on your new do...
  15. It's a really cool way to "let your hair loose" after months or years of stress, planning your wedding day. This forum has inspired me to do one. If the budget allows, go for it.
  16. Welcome to the forum and congrats! I'm also a 2010 bride. By the time next year comes around, tourism in MX is sure to pick up and this swine flu will hopefully be a thing of the past. Best of luck planning!
  17. Welcome and congrats on your engagement! Old San Juan is beautiful; your wedding will be perfect!!
  18. Congrats and welcome to the forum Martine! You will find lots of great info on here. Best of luck planning!
  19. Hi ladies, this thread is so inspiring!! Everyone's dress looks amazing! I finally ordered my dress this past weekend; I'm so in love with her and can't wait until she comes in! My dress is ivory, and I'm getting a french bustle on it. I originally wanted to cut off the train but the seamstress told me it would cost more to do that. Don't mind the bad pic; my mother beheaded me, lol. Here is my dress; which you can't really see it fully because its bunched up at the bottom: I'm vertically challenged and the stock was too big. And here it is on the model:
  20. Wow, you look great! My faves are the ones of you in the red boa and matching shoes! HOT!!! And also # 27 and the on the roof. It's going to be hard to choose!
