  1. Hi wedding0610!! I have been getting a few concerns as well about Mexico's safety. Here's the thing.....all of this violence is happening on the US/Mexico border. Cabo San Lucas is so americanized too! I know it's a little much when you have family or future family coming at you with concerns. I have recently realized that it's important to do what YOU and your FIANCE want to do. You are going to have danger wherever you go. Just remind your guests that it is a foreign country and you ALWAYS need to take the necessary precautions. I haven't confirmed my dates yet. I have 90 days and I have been e-mailing Daniella to check and re-check that I will get what I want before I completely confirm. If you can't confirm just e-mail Daniella and she could probably help you. That would be great if you could send me the dates for the 2010 stuff. I have the price of the Royal Package (40 people or less). I have been thinking a lot and I think I am going to make my own bouquet. It will save tons of money and I don't really want to use the resorts flowers because I don't think they will be my colors. My colors are going to be pink and brown. I was thinking having pink roses and wrap them with brown ribbon or whatever it is they use to wrap the flowers. Not sure what they are called. What are you doing for the reception, cocktail hour, etc.?
  2. WOW!!! Beautiful pictures!! I do have a few questions. I am trying to decide between Riu in Cabo San Lucas or in Ocho Rios. Did you like the wedding cordinator? How was the dinner? Is there a restaurant that overlooks the beach? Also, I really want to get married on the beach and but I do not want the Gazebo. Is there another location on the beach without the Gazebo?
  3. Hi there! Honestly, I really think an Ipod is the way to go. You have total control over the music. The party is how you make it. Just make different playlists for the dinner, dancing, etc. It will be perfect and you will be saving money
  4. I LOVE the cake topper. How exciting!!! Yea I don't know what I am going to do about the cake issue. I have heard the Riu wedding cakes are not very good at all. How much are diva desserts asking for their wedding cakes?
  5. BrideToBe2010- THANK YOU!!! I think that's just exactly what I needed to hear. Honestly, I LOVE cabo. It's beautiful and the scenery is amazing. Are any of your friends and family expressing there concerns about your wedding in Cabo?
  6. So I am having a bit of a problem with a location. Originally my FI and I had decided to get married in Cabo San Lucas. I have had so many concerns from family and friends regarding the safety issues in Mexico right now. I feel guilty because I don't want people thinking that they want to come to our wedding but are worried for their safety. So.......I began looking for locations in Jamaica. I like the Riu chains. Also, I really want to get married on the beach and, if possible, have the reception on the beach. Can someone help me
  7. I am planning on getting married at the Riu Palace June 2010. I am so excited about this location but my family has began their quest for me to reconsider because of all of the warnings about Mexico's safety right now. They think that the situation will only get worse and I might not even be able to have a wedding down there because who knows what it may be like in a year in a half. Can anyone ease my mind?
  8. Hi jerzygirl! The party is what you make of it. I am definitely going to save some money and just use my Ipod. Make different folders on your Ipod. For example, dinner music, dancing music, etc. See if a friend or family member will be in charge of the music. If you put them in different folders though you shouldn't need much assistance on changing the songs.
  9. I love this post. Everyone has great song choices!! So here's a silly questions. I want my wedding party to walk down the isle to Somewhere over the Rainbow and then I want to walk down the isle to better together by Jack Johnson. So my question is.....how do you make a smooth transition from one song to the other when your using your IPOD?
  10. That's good to know! I was thinking about table centerpieces, guest gifts, seat cards, etc. I think I want to bring a few rose pedal bags myself for the table and the cake. Do you think that would be ok?
  11. I can't wait to see the pictures!!! Those colors will look great together. Very pretty! How many bridesmaids are you having? I was looking at the cake attachment you sent me. Are you getting a round cake or a square cake? What flavors? I don't know if I want to the bride and groom piece on the cake. I was thinking rose pedals would be pretty. What do you think?
  12. You are amazing Kimmy!!! Thank you so much for the break down. I can not open the attachments because I don't have enough "points" would you mind sending the attachments to my e-mail? It's [email protected]. What colors are you having for your wedding? Where are you going to have the reception? We are trying to be a little frugal so I don't think we will do a beach reception just because it looks like it will cost a little more. I think a dancefloor with speakers would be perfect. Are you going to do anything for the centerpieces on the tables?
  13. Thanks so much nanner431!!! I want to cover the reception tables with rose petals and some votive candle center pieces. Will Daniella let me bring outside decoration in?
  14. Sorry....I realize my last post sounds like I am all over the place. OK....I am interested in either renting the beach area or renting the terrace. Can someone help me with that?
  15. I just e-mailed Daniella about the reception and I really didn't get a straight answer. Here is what I am interested in. I want to either have the reception on the beach or on the terrace of the mexican restaurant (6:30-11). I know that it will cost an extra $500 (I am not interested in renting out the whole restaurant). I just want to know if it's possible to rent an area on the beach with a dance floor and maybe speakers for an Ipod. To do this would it still be $500. Also, if I rent out the Terrace is there enough room for dancing and speakers for an Ipod?
  16. Wouldn't that be great if we were getting married around the same time in June sunshine? I am getting really excited even though it's like 400 days away!!! Have you been in contact with Daniella at all? We were thinking of having the reception at the Mexican restaurant on the terrace too. The only thing is that I really don't want to rent out the disco. I want to do dancing after dinner at the same spot. I am a little confused at what I should do. We are definitely having the ceremony on the beach. I just couldn't have it any other way!!!
  17. Congrats on your upcoming wedding Kimmy!! Definitely let me know how the wedding goes. Where are you having the ceremony and which restaurant are you having the reception at?
  18. Oh good!! That makes me feel better. I know it starts to get hot around that time but happy to hear it's still pretty nice during June. What month are you thinking of having your wedding SunshineMonkey? Where are you thinking about having the reception? So many questions
  19. Ok so before I confirm my June 19, 2010 wedding at the Riu I want to see if anyone knows if June is a good month weather wise in Cabo? I really do not have any flexibility on the month. It has to be in June. Can anyone help?
  20. Thanks saltocoach! I feel torn between the Mexican restaurant and the Steakhouse. I have heard the steakhouse really isn't that good. I have heard that if you do have the reception at the steakhouse you can have the actual reception on the beach. Have you heard anything like this?
  21. Do you want to bring any centerpieces for the reception tables or are the votive candles going to be it? Where did you end up finding your chair bows? Also, the hotel has rose pedals to purchase. I didn't know that they would let you bring your own. Good to know if they do. I am getting married at the Riu Palace in 2010. I am glad you are remembering the cake boxes. I have heard there is lots of cake left over but when people don't remember cake boxes, it goes to waste. Why waste cake when you can send your guests back to their hotel with a couple of pieces for a midnight snack later
  22. I'm thinking about having the reception at the Mexican Restaurant. I know that you can rent out the Terrace from 8-11 for an extra $500. When you do this what all is included? If I am spending an extra $500 I would hope dancing and a DJ were included but I am not sure. Can someone help me?
  23. Thanks Jerome for the pictures. I really like the reception on the beach pictures. Does anyone know which restaurant you can have dinner on the beach like that?
  24. Thank you all for the warming welcome!! I have heard that Dreams and Riu are pretty popular. I really enjoy Riu's location and if guests want to head into Cabo for a day it's a little cheaper to catch a taxi at the Riu. Thanks again for everything and if your have any more comments, please keep them coming
