  1. The Tides Hotel is located on Playa la Ropa. I go for a walk on Playa la Ropa about once week, year round, and everytime I pass the Tides my desire to photograph a wedding there builds. From a photographic perspective, there are numerous interesting possibilities within the property's many structures and surrounding natural environment. Definitely a beautiful location.
  2. La Casa Que Canta is indeed a stunning example of traditional Mexican architecture. It is built into the natural environment to a degree that is difficult to explain using words and incredible to experience. The service at the hotel is exceptional and the management, from a vendor's perspective, is genuinely friendly. ANN: I have photos from weddings at La Casa Que Canta. If you would like, I would be happy to post them somewhere on the forum.
  3. Hello East Coast Elizabeth! La Casa Que Canta really is indeed special. From the first time I shot a wedding there, I developed a connection to the flowing lines of the buildings. The interior and exterior spaces are also quite spacious, hence, from a technical perspective, more condusive to varied shot angles and compositions... without being squished into a corner to get the shot! :-) Elizabeth, I checked out your website and blog and appreciate and enjoy your artistic vision, use of colour and use of architecture to create a sense of place and as backdrop. Cheers, West Coast Elizabeth (PS I hope to shoot a wedding at hacienda someday. The ones you have photographed at seem very visually interesting)

  5. I noticed that the intitial post in this thread was made in 2007. Since 2007, several additional and very beautiful, mid to high end boutique hotels have been opened up in Zihuatanejo. Many of the structures are architecturally incredible and highly condusive to great wedding imagery.
  6. Zihuatanejo is definitely a great destination for a wedding... there are many mid to high end beautiful boutique hotels along with a well developed destination wedding industry (hence you can get things done).
  7. Welcome to the forum, fellow Canadian! It definitely cuts down on the cost of a wedding by using vendors who are based locally. There is a lot of foreign talent based in Mexico. I hope you find the vendors you require to make your day amazing!

  23. Perhaps you could do most of the group and couple photos before the ceremony, then a few after. A 5pm start seems a little late. A 4:30pm start time might allow you more of a cushion. In Mexico in November the sun drops VERY fast. From the time the sun starts to set to the time it drops to the time of complete darkness is about 1 hour (and sometimes less).
