  1. It seems like Saturdays are popular days to get married in Mexico for both local and foreign brides. Saturday, and especially Sunday, are the busiest days at most beaches... so if you don't mind crowds of people, then weekend weddings are ok. A mid-week wedding would definitely result a more private event. Please note, there are often wall-to-wall people at the beach on State and National holidays.
  2. I agree with Renee, when a new Canadian joins the forum you can feel the love! :-) A kind welcome to you both Heather and Grant! I think you will be happily surprised to discover that there are a few professional photographers and wedding coordinators from Canada who are based in Mexico. Happy to help.
  3. Three cheers for the groom! Good on you!! I hope you find lots of great information on the forum.
  4. Hello fellow Canadian. Welcome aboard! Flights to Mexico are pretty reasonable and they are some new direct flights are opening up especially with WestJet. Happy to help!
  5. Troncones is an exceptional find! My husband and I visit there about once a month and we love it! The area is being developed pretty quickly - mostly very high-end homes owned by expats. However the tiny town's laid back charm is still very much intact and there are some incredible boutique hotels. If anyone has specific questions about Troncones, I would be happy to help you find an answer. Happy to help.

  7. Hello Jen. Welcome to the forum! Zihuatanejo and Ixtapa are definitely a becoming more popular destinations for weddings... there are many beautiful new, and established, boutique hotels as well as medium sized resort hotels. Troncones is near Zihua-Ixtapa but is much less developed and super laid back. I hope you have a successful planning experience and are able to find vendors you require to make your day amazing! Happy to help.

  9. Hola Farina. Welcome to the forum. I read your other post evaluating a photographer in PV. I don't know that photographer directly so can only say that I am sorry to hear that your family did not have a good experience with her. I hope that you are able to find the vendors that you need to make your day beautiful, memorable and carefree. Happy to help. Tenga buen día!
  10. Oops. Terribly sorry. My comment refered to the original post and linked review which started the thread. I am new to forums, in fact, this my very first one. Thanks for the heads-up and next time I'll definitely read through the entire thread before making a comment - even the long ones. :-) Hope everyone has a wonderful week.
  11. In the Ixtapa - Zihuatanenjo area, you must get married in a church for a Catholic ceremony. There are several cute churches in the area to choose from. But, if you insist on getting married at a resort, there is a priest from Acapulco that can do it. He simply comes up for the ceremony then returns to Acapulco.
  12. I think this is the first post I have seen on this forum for a destination wedding in South Africa. I have a dear friend that I have known years who is from, and still lives in, South Africa (we met while I was on academic exchange in Malaysia). If you have specific questions, he might have some helpful answers. Where in SA are you getting married?
