  1. I live about 5 minutes down the road from Las Brisas in Ixtapa and photographed a wedding and private couple's shoot there in January 2011. It is really beautiful and very very spacious and private. There is a rock outcrop separating it from the main beach in Ixtapa. Las Brisas has an exclusive beach. If you are planning a beach wedding, it might be useful to check the tidal charts closer to your wedding date as the tides vary greatly throughout the year. I'd be happy to help with further questions. The best way to get ahold of me these days is via email - [email protected] Happy planning!
  2. Hi there Ixtapa - Zihuatanejo is a younger version of Acapulco and a much, much younger version of Puerto Vallarta. Zihua is especially laid back and you can pretty much walk everywhere you would need to go. My husband and I have been based in Zihuatanejo for about 3.5 years and we really love it..... :-) Elizabeth
  3. Thank you Mariana! It was such a treat to provide photographic and video coverage for you and Luis. Eli BN Fotografia
  4. Welcome to the forum!
  5. Looking forward to seeing you on Feb 18!! Your big day is almost here! Yeh!
  6. Just finished photographing three weddings, parts of which took place at the Tides, and have a wedding which will take place entirely at the Tides in May 2010. I also live in Zihuatanejo where The Tides is based, know the hotel and how to get things done in the area. I posted a highlight video from one of the weddings which has a few photos from The Tides. See BN Fotografia - The Tides - video - the top level shot is of guys jumping. Also, you can see some photos from a different wedding (parts of which took place at The Tides) at BN Fotografia - The Tides - photos . I'll be posting more photos from The Tides weddings later this week. The Tides is a great hotel and there are a few other options available locally with a similar caliber. The easiest way to contact me is at [email protected] . If you have specific questions and I'd be happy to help you.
  7. Hello Jamie Welcome to the forum! My husband and I live in Ixtapa - Zihuatanejo and have photographed weddings in many venues in the area - see BN Fotografia - Zihuatanejo - Ixtapa photographer. Happy to help.
  8. Noticed that there are a couple of question re: the location of Zihuatanejo (Zihua) - it is 3 hours up the coast from Acapulco.
  9. Welcome to the forum Christine! I have photographed three weddings recently, parts of which took place at The Tides and have one more booked for May 2010 which will take place entirely at The Tides... oddly enough for a client named Christie! For a moment, I thought you were my client Christie! In another of your postings, I posted links where you can see photos and video taken at The Tides. Happy to help.
  10. Oh, by the way, I posted a highlight video from one of the weddings that I mentioned (part of which took place at The Tides). The highlight video also has some photos from the Tides. See BN Fotografia - The Tides - video - the top level shot is of guys jumping. Also, you can see some photos from one of the weddings at BN Fotografia - The Tides - photos . My husband and I had the great pleasure of photographing Amós and his beautiful sweet bride Yamile - truly an enjoyable experience!! I have posted some photos from their private couple's shoot and wedding at Yamile and Amós - Ixtapa - Zihuatanejo. Happy to help.
  12. Thank you so much for your comments Yamile and Amós! It was such a pleasure to get to know you and to photograph a couple that is so clearly, and completely, in love!! Your family and friends were also wonderful! My husband and I felt very lucky to be including in your wedding day! Your wedding coordinator, Dey, and I still talk about how wonderful you were to work with!! For all the photo junkies on the forum (that means pretty much everyone :-) :-)), you can see a slideshow from Yamile and Amós' wedding at Yamile and Amós - Ixtapa - Zihutanejo
  13. Hi Scot! Happy New Year!! It's your friendly photographer Elizabeth. I have some great news for you.... I have just completed extensive research into legal marriage in Mexico, aka the civil ceremony, and submitted an article for the February issue of the print magazine Another Day in Paradise - Another Day in Paradise The online version should be available within the first week of February. If you have any questions after reading the article, we are happy to help you. Please pass my regards to Emily.
  14. Hello Jessica Congratulations! Zihua is a great place to get married, and to live! My husband and I have been based here for 3 years in March and we love it. I am familiar with the venues you are considering and would be happy to recommend a few more. If you are interested in getting together while you are in town, feel free to email me to set up a time and place. Happy to help.
  15. Hi there. If you would like I can organize a lady to come to your hotel room to do manicures and pedicures. She is a local friend of mine who does a really good job but doesn't speak a word of English. I write this as I admire my little pink toes nails that she painted for me a couple of days ago. :-) Feel free to email at [email protected] to discuss details. Happy to help.
  16. You're welcome! This year it has rained far less than last year and it generally started falling in the mid to late evening. In the heat and humidity of August, rain is a blessing!! It might be useful to create a Plan B (rainy day plan), just in case.... Interestingly enough, none of the wedding ceremonies I have photographed have been rained out.... though that could make for some wild photos! Happy to help. I'm worried about the rain in August in Puerto Vallarta, but I hear that it's just a mid-afternoon rain, much like Florida and Hawaii. Hopefully it won't linger all day, but just be enough to cool off the heat a little? I've heard mixed feedback... I just want my guests to have some sunny days at the beach for activities like snorkeling and a turtle release. I am excited to hear about the turtles and long sunsets! Thanks again!
  17. I think mid week weddings are a really good option, if you can do it. The beaches are a lot quieter and you will have a better chance to work with the vendors of your choice as there are fewer mid-week weddings than week-end. Just a friendly heads-up about August weddings in Mexico. It is VERY, VERY humid and VERY, VERY hot. I have photographed several weddings in Mexico during this month and have seen brides, grooms and entire wedding parties literally melt in front of my camera. Things I recommend to my clients: wear the lightest weight dress you can find that is made from natural material and that is breathable. Choose comfortable shoes that have air flow. If your feet get sweaty in tight shoes, the result can be nasty blisters (I seen it happen.... not too nice). If you have long hair it will be much cooler with it up. If people wear jackets, long sleeved shirts or the colour black, by the end of the ceremony they will be standing in a puddle of their own sweat. I am from Canada so I understand North America fashion sense for weddings but I also now live and work in Mexico, so I can safely say that in the heat of August try to think functional (ie how can my fiance and I keep cool, how can my wedding party and guests keep cool) over what would be appropriate in the USA or Canada. The heavy and/or luxurious materials, and formal, layered attire that are certainly appropriate for North American weddings are simply not practical for weddings in Mexico in August, during other times in the year perhaps, but not August. The good news about August weddings in Mexico: it is one of the best months for long, beautiful sunsets; the overall expense of your wedding will be less than in other times of the year and you can negotiate a better price with ALL vendors (hotel, flowers, wedding coordinator, food, everything!); and '000's of sea turtles come to lay their eggs on the beaches. Joining a group to search for turtle eggs and to help release baby turtles into the ocean can make for a unique and memorable activity. I hope you find my advice helpful. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help out. Quote: Originally Posted by jdrewett Monday, 8.9.10! 19. Sure. I'd be happy to provide a quote for your requirements. Could you email me at [email protected] to discuss the specifics? 20. Hi there Welcome to the forum! I know quite a few people (mostly management) who work in Pacifica Resort so would be happy to help you navigate to get things done easily. I'm in Ixtapa practically every week as I am based 5 minutes away in Zihuatanejo. In terms of activities... there is something for everyone. What kinds of things do you and your guests like to do? Happy to help. Quote: Originally Posted by Scotch2120 Hey all! New to the forum. Getting married in Ixtapa at the Pacifica resort in March. Looking forward to it.
