I was just curious what most of the brides are choosing to do. We are only having 25-40 people at our wedding, and I need to convince my fiance to book this place! I haven't booked yet but am considering this resort for my DW. I think a cheaper way around things is to do the restaurant for the dinner which is free. Then have a private 2 hour party at the parrot bar or beach with open bar. I found it to be ALOT cheaper for me that way. I was thinking only 2 hours was perfect because then you can just move the party to the disco if you want and people can dance and drink for free. This way you get some intimate time, but don't have to spend a fortune. hope this helps!

well I think it depends on when you are going what the price difference is. I was looking in October 2009 and it was only $200 more than the colonial. At the same time, other people have said that the Elegance was actually cheaper.... so I think it truly depends on the dates you are going. I am not sure the major differences but I know that the are next to each other and seemed pretty similar. They share the same beach ceremony set up/location. I believe someone mentioned that the 2 restaurants near the beach are similar at both places. hope it helps some! Personally, I wish there was a comparison chart lol it'd be so much easier!

a few questions... sorry if they have already been addressed: 1. is there a limit on the amount of people you can have at the restaurant for your reception dinner? 2. do they allow you to just bring an ipod and docking station instead of using the dj or sound system? is there a place to plug it in at the parrot bar? 3. is room service an additional fee? 4. I read you can only have 2 beers per day in your mini-fridge? is this true for anyone that has actually been there? 5. do all rooms have a jacuzzi? 6. has anyone used the resort photography? if so, what were your opinions? thanks in advance! I have been looking through the threads but I haven't looked through them all. I didn't find the answers to everything so I figured I would post! Thanks so much, sorry if I am asking questions that have already been answered. Please forgive me!

opinions on punta cana?
jerzshortstuff replied to jerzshortstuff's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
thanks for all the input! I decided if people don't want to come because they "didn't like" PC when they were there before, then so be it! I'm not gonna let them decide where I have my wedding when they aren't even immediate family! lol Thanks again! -
anna c- Is the Parrot Bar located close enough to a bar that is open around 7pm-10pm where guests can get their drinks instead of paying for the open bar? Is there a bar near the beach open late hours, like around 7pm-10pm? This issue may have already been addressed but I'm still looking through all of the threads to find it! Thanks in advance!

So, I was set on going to punta cana for our destination wedding.... but I was reading some reviews and listening to people I know that went there, and they are making it seem like its a bad place to go. I know I just need to stop looking at reviews but, its so hard to do! lol So, main complaints people keep saying are: 1. the food isn't good? 2. it's a long drive thats bumpy and scary? 3. the beaches aren't nice? Maybe these people had too high of expectations or weren't aware of what they were getting themselves into, I dunno. For any that have been to the area or have been married there, can you share your opinions? I know things are different depending on the resort, but I'm just curious of other brides opinions. Thanks in advance!

thanks! yea i guess i'm thinking more like 250-300/night for a room... I'm sure Im worrying about guests too much cause really if people come thats great, if not, its still ok. I was previously married before and mexico was where we honeymooned. I originally wanted to get married in mexico but was told it "wasn't right" if I had my wedding there (from my moms pov). Although maybe I can go to a different part of mexico and get away with it lol. I dunno. Its so frustrating! I just wanna be set on a place and be able to set a date. Cause right now without knowing where to go and all... we havent picked a date lol. oh well! thanks for your input and listening to me ramble on! -

So, I keep changing my mind on where I want to get married and could use some input. I was thinking I could tell you what we are looking for and you could give your feedback. Any suggestions/opinions/etc are greatly appreciated! We are so lost, we can't even decide on a country! lol! We DEFINITELY want the following at a resort: -All Inclusive -A week stay for hotel to be around $1500 for two people sharing a room -Beach Ceremony (which we already agreed to do symbolic and official at home) -Private area for reception -Not Mexico -Kids Welcomed -We want an established resort (don't wanna deal with construction/people still trying to get into the swing of things/etc) -We want to enjoy the beach, pool(s), and spa -We want on-site activities available (such as snorkeling/kayaking/etc but not necessarily those exact activities) I want the guests to come to the resort and feel like there is plenty to do there that they do not have to leave to find things to do unless they WANT to. (if that makes sense?) I went to Aventura Spa Palace and it was perfect because we never had to leave the resort! I want guests to go to this place and feel the same way! It is one thing for me to look at places, but I haven't had the chance to travel a lot so I do not know first hand what each place is like. I just want to thank you in advance for your help! Hopefully we will find some where to go! lol -

i agree this forum is so helpful! so thankful and appreciative of everyones help and advice! -
So I was just wondering the difference between the Renewal of Vows and Symbolic Ceremonies. I see alot of people are getting married before they go there and was wondering which ceremony was chosen. Also, if you are married before you arrive do you automatically have to choose the ROV ceremony, and is it any different from the Symbolic ceremony? I know the ceremonies are short, but if we get married before we go, no one will be there besides our parents/witnesses and I want the destination ceremony to "look" like our first time marrying each other (lol if that makes sense hahaha) i know i'm weird! thanks in advance for your help!

thanks for your help! i definitely want to go some where that my guests can be entertained without leaving the resort. everyone is from new jersey/pa... so we would probably fly out of Philadelphia. but airfare isn't so much a concern. i really like the idea of the jacuzzi's in the rooms. did you use your local travel agent or someone online? -
so i cant decide what resort to choose in punta cana... we DEFINITELY want a beach ceremony... that's the most important thing to both of us! we don't care if a place is adult only or kids welcomed. we are definitely looking for a place that isn't too expensive, ranging maybe around 2,000 for the hotel for a week stay. any ideas/suggestions/opinions? thanks in advance!

if you do a symbolic ceremony, do u know if they still consider u "honeymooners" after the wedding in mexico? im not sure what we are doing. i think its going to be a hassle to try and get everything legal in mexico so i am leaning towards getting legally married when we get back... but then what date do u celebrate as ur anniversary? lol

i just cant seem to decide on a place. we really are thinking cancun and we want an all inclusive.... and i REALLLLLY love moon palace, but then i was reading on here that other peoples guests booked elsewhere because of prices. i mean, whats the point of flying all the way to mexico and staying at a diff resort? do i dunno. guess we just have to wait and see the prices when they become available -
congrats and welcome!
