  2. yea I saw on twitter a link to a story that said they filed for divorce. Marriage can be hard enough, but adding 8 kids, millions of viewers, and having every moment of your life taped can put a damper on things... so sad tho

I keep changing my mind on resorts! lol so many options. I really liked the majestic but it seems more expensive. We will probably go with Grand Palladium Bavaro if rooms/dates are available because it will be a couple grand saved. Plus I like that the price is cheaper and the free dinner seems like it is semi private. And that there are 3 places at one. I will have to contact a TA and see whats available. Thanks again!
  4. thanks so much! did you use a TA from online or a local one?
  5. thanks girls! I was planning on getting a TA but I was hoping to look at prices so I could get an idea... I am torn between majestic and palladium, but I wanted to compare prices and stuff. I don't want to choose a date and then not know if rooms are available during that time. thanks for your help. maybe ill just contact a ta early for ideas hehe
  6. It seems that every time I look at a hotel and dates for 2010 I have the worst luck! lol So I was looking for april/may/june 2010 at the Grand Palladium Bavaro and it says unavailable. Is it possible that they book up that fast I saw some reviews and was interested in pricing for rooms but, it looks like there aren't any available.
  7. Thanks for all the help! I'm gonna check out those sites. I'm a school teacher so I really can't go whenever, but if I can work it around when we are off then I will be ok. At the same time, we were planning on having our "legal" ceremony at home in April 2010 and didn't want to wait too long after to get married... yet next April 2010 is not good for us to have the destination wedding. I'm sure I will figure something out! Thanks for all the help!
  8. so I have been looking online but, I am looking to see what the weather is like in the DR. I know it depends on seasons, and am not sure when hurricane season is.... but was just wondering because the whole reason to have a DW is because we want to get married on the beach and if the weather is horrible (which I know is out of our control) we probably won't be able to get married on the beach. I know there is no perfect time, but any opinions or links anyone has on the weather there? also, how have you planned your date? is september/october too risky? thanks in advance!
  9. yea I heard of them too... I believe if you search on you tube there are videos on there as well

  11. oh good cause I was looking for rooms and it said unavailable so I was hoping they weren't all booked up! lol
  12. oh another question... do you know if they book up fast. I was looking for a week next april (2010) and it says not available. Is that because they are booked or are they not releasing rooms yet? thanks in advance!

I still think its a bit cramped but people can overflow to the area by the pool which its just going down 2 steps. I also asked her why they charge for open bar when drinks are already included in the hotel stay and she explained that its because the Parrot Bar and Wet Bar close at 6pm and we would be renting the space and service after hours, made sense to me. You can however bring 5 bottles of liquor with you at no charge but after 5 bottles they charge a $10 corking fee. But here's another little surprise I uncovered that she mentioned. The open bar price totals to $18 (for national drinks) per person after taxes and all, BUT thats just for the 1st hour, every hour after that its 1/2 price!!!! So that should ease up on cost. I assume the 1/2 price thing after the 1st hour applies to international and premium as well, but I'm not 100% sure. Another question we've all been wondering is about the bouquet and buttonniere....its listed on the Extras page as an additional cost yet its listed as included in the package price. Maritee said that for 2009 it is an extra cost but not for 2010, so it is included in the package at no additional cost for 2010. However it is an additional cost for bridesmaids and mother of the bride, etc. I am so glad I had the chance to visit the hotel because I now know what each area looks like and what I would need and NOT need, even though I still haven't made a decision on the what, when and where yet. But once I do decide I will know exactly what I need to take with me and how to decorate things. If I think of anything else I will post again. Hope I answered your questions. so awesome! thanks for all of your help! do you know if there is a place you can just plug in an ipod docking station as opposed to renting the dj for the parrot bar? TIA!

I think that when it comes time, I am just going to see which has the better price and choose that resort since they are so similar. And when you think about it, price is a big deal for guests so they would prefer the cheaper place as well. hth!
