To add to my stress, I filled out the TA questionnaire a week ago (as recommended by so many on this website) and not once has anyone tried to contact me. No email, no phone call. Who's Anne Marie? I only know of Sandra, Maritee, and Massiel. I wouldn't worry though because it is not uncommon to email with one WC and the day of your wedding have a different one. They are all fabulous! Like stated before, print out all emails before you leave so you have written confirmation so whomever you deal with can see it if need be.

It's not an excuse because I want to be a priority too but I will say relax and be patient because they told me they do 3 weddings a day and get 200+ emails a day to go through. If you are trying to book a date consider calling. If it's just about details such as flowers, cake flavors, etc be patient because they told me not to worry about the details until I get down there. Additionally, facebook has a group for Majestic Colonial brides that has alot of info, and my photographer I hire, Phil Steingard, is always willing to help too. Congrats all you fellow brides and remember we are all in the same boat. Even if emails take forever our days will all be magical because the WC do come through for all of us brides!

VIDEOGRAPHY in DR

For the same price as a Claudia Rodriguez (our original Mexico photographer) package for 3 hours with a CD and prints we got a CD, photo book and video. Claudia did email and ask if we needed a Punta Cana photographer once all those weddings got cancelled in Mexico. I thought that was great that she still offered her services in a different location, but by then we already booked our photographer so we declined. Much like the photographer it was a bit unnerving to be followed around with a video camera at first. But aside from when he was asking for a comment and putting the camera inches from your face, I didn’t notice our videographer, Florian. Since we confirmed our photographer 2 days before we were leaving, he asked us to come up with 9 songs for the video. It kept us up late one night because we were trying to prepare everything else and had this new task and we knew we had to pick great songs. He used almost all of our songs and very appropriately. Everyone commented on how great the video showed our personalities with the music choices. We thought our wedding video would be cheesy and we’d never watch it again, but I’ve seen it so many times and I could watch it over and over again. This is pretty much the layout of it and the songs that went with it Girls getting ready – I could not ask for more – Edwin Mccain Boys getting ready – Ladies and gentlemen – Saliva Wedding ceremony – Canon in D (song I walked down the aisle to) -Nothing else matters – Metallica orchestra version Taking pics after the ceremony – celebration – kool and the gang Taking beach pics – I love you – martina mcbride Florian got comments from everyone about our wedding, it was so great to see what people said. Our video captured our wedding day very well, I love watching it. I wish I could figure out a way to post it online. It came in a DVD case with our pictures on it and has a menu like most DVDs so you can skip to different chapters, it even has ending credits like we were in a movie. Lol. And just like the photo book and CD, we got the video the very next day. He even brought a mini DVD player so we could watch it right then and there. Again, so so so impressed. He asked if wanted any extra copies, we got 2 more for $20 each for our parents. He came to the resort and delivered the extra copies to us the next day. The service from them was amazing, we were totally blown away at what they delivered to us the next day. We showed our wedding video at our AHR and lots of people told us how much they loved it. It was entertaining and funny at parts, plus they got to witness our wedding and hear our vows. So glad to hear this! I have him booked too and I heard he is excellent! Any site where you can post the video? I would love to see it! Let us know because I'm sure many of us want a preview and to know what to expect! Your pics look great too! Congrats! -

DR wedding traditions

Please post if you get answer! I think it'd be really awesome to incorporate a Dominican tradition into the ceremony. Very unique! -

Mine has been very helpful....but Maritee my WC does answer emails pretty quickly. Dates fill up quickly so maybe you should call there? I did once and spoke to WC immediately. Good luck!

OOT bag Help!!!
MexicoBeachBride2010 replied to Taryn20's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I agree with everyone else. I posted my own thread before reading this but I got a ton of stuff at The Christmas Tree Shops (also try Bed Bath and Beyond) and bought mugs off ebay for less than $1 each and bags off ebay for about $2 each. So far I spent $7.50 per bag and I am making 16 bags. I plan to buy more odds n ends for the bags but this is a great start for me. I would stick to an amount and make a list of what you want. I was able to find things relatively inexpensive so now I have more room to buy more stuff or just be done. Either way all the guests will appreciate them and love that you thought about them beforehand. Congrats and good luck! -
Hey Everyone, Just wanted to give you all a heads up at some awesome buys for OOT bag supplies. We went to the Christmas Tree Shops (owned by same company as Bed Bath and Beyond) and got most of our things for our bags and only spent $69.00. I got hand sanitizer for $0.45 each, Chapstick for 3/$1.00, Aloe for $1 each, Shout Wipes 4/$1.00, first aid kits in plastic box for $1 each, and tissues 10/$2.00. We bought our bags and mugs off ebay and the bags were about $2 each and the mugs were less than $1/mug. So far I spent about $7.50 per bag and have tons of stuff in it. If you don't have a Christmas tree shop near you, try bed bath and beyond because they have similar section. I was thinking of buying small photo albums with palm trees on them from AC Moore for $1 each and maybe doing T-Shirts for everyone but I'm not sure yet. My budget was about $10-15 per bag so I have the room but I'm not sure if my guests would use them. Good luck shopping!

I would email the WC if you have an idea of where you want your "reception". I emailed her about the Pres. Suite then changed my mind to the Parrot Bar. Nothing is sent in stone per say, so if you get down there and like a different spot you can possibly switch if it's available. But if another bride has booked it, then you may not get your 1st choice.

What to wear at AHR???

We had pictures everywhere of our wedding, but that couldn't make up for seeing me in person in the dress - I highly recommend it, even if you decide to change later. Good thought! I agree with you completely and my fiance and I actually rethought our AHR and instead of doing a picnic we are doing a more formal reception but nothing too fancy. -
When to book photographer

Hello, I was there in May for a site visit and asked some of these questions and saw both resorts. 1.) They don't take contracts/deposits...do what Ali said and print every email out and take with you. You may need this at some point! 2.) Difference between the hotels...nothing major! The elegant side is more elegant but the colonial is beautiful. I chose the colonial because it isn't brand new and has all the small growing pains worked out. The elegance is brand new which makes it completely beautiful but I decided for my guests the colonial was a better fit because it seemed to cater more to families...the elegance allows kids but I felt it had a more adult atmosphere. I actually booked the colonial side for my wedding, but my fiance and I are staying 2 weeks total so we are doing 7 nights colonial and 7 nights at the elegance club adult only section for our honeymoon. 3.) I do think the private dinner prices are ridiculous! We are doing the free dinner and renting the parrot bar for cake/dancing/speeches. The open bar is even silly but its alot less than what I'd have to pay for a private dinner. Some people don't even do a private reception and go to the disco so they bypass all the extra costs. 4.) I went through Liberty Travel in Whitehall, PA. My TA has done all of my trips and my family has used her for atleast 5 years. We booked in July for our May 18, 2010 wedding so we got the early booking price. If you are contemplating booking I would do it soon before this early booking price is gone. I would imagine October would be even better prices than what I booked at because it's low season (even tho May is too). 5.) Someone asked about the gazebo...I absolutely loved it when I saw it! It's beautiful and def private! I don't mind people watching which they can do at the gazebo, but they can't crowd you since there is water surrounding the one side and only one way to walk towards it! They have pics on their website too if interested. Congrats to all you Majestic brides! I love this site!
