I am using Pastor York for a symbolic ceremony and will probably have the flow of his ceremony on the program. Are you having a symbolic or legal ceremony?

I would inquire about specific flowers/colors you are interested in and take it from there. They have most flower choices, the only one I came across that was unavailable in DR were the hydrangeas. You may have gotten lucky...I met with the WC in person on my site visit and they said they couldn't be guaranteed but if they were available you would have to pay extra. I want a bouquet of orchids so I'm not risking it and the real touch look real in pictures and don't wilt.

Once I get that, then I think I will decide. Have any of you ladies used silk or "real touch" calla lilies. If so, do you have any pics you could post or send me to daniellewebster at gmail dot com. Thanks again guys! Cheers! I am using Roberta from plumeria flower boutique...she has many pictures with examples on her site and a blog with photos of the bouquets she makes. She is very reasonably priced also! She also has calla lilies.
  5. Awesome idea...I really like the white board idea...good way to communicate with each other.

I know I want it to be in July 2010, I just haven't been able to make a decision on the hotel. I want a hotel that would provide me with a nice reception.. I'm getting married in the church about 40 minutes away from punta cana, and I know I don't want a ballroom wedding reception but I'm trying to find a hotel with a nice beach reception set-up or a nice terrace.... Apparently, based on what I read, the top picks for weddings are Dreams Punta Cana, Dreams Palm Beach, Majestic Colonial, Majestic Elegance, Paradisus Palma Real, Paradisus Punta Cana and Iberostar Bavaro. The Dreams punta cana I read has a nice terrace but has a bad beach. I don't want a nice terrace with a view of an ugly beach.. It defeats the purpose.. I don't know if I'm being too picky or paranoid.. I need help desperately!! Check out the Majestic! I was there in May for a site visit and they have terraces attached to the steak and seafood restaurants and also have a great beach. You can do a free dinner for all your guests in one of these restaurants which saves money and throw a beach party reception or do a private dinner on the terrace, the beach or they have a great balcony/terrace of the presidential suite that overlooks the beach. They have many beautiful options.

I only have until this Wednesday to book 10 people and reserve this rate until April 2010. Most of my family and friends think these rates are too high and I should wait it out but then I talk to people who have been to the Majestic they all think my rate is a good one? I am listing my quote below, i need some advice on what to do. Jul 20 departure $1189.00 + $309.00 tax = $1498.00 per adult / $899.00 + $309.00 tax = $1208.0 per child Jul 17 departure $1299.00 + $309.00 tax = $1608.00 per adult / $1009.00 + $309.00 tax = $1318.00 per child Suggestions? Those rates don't look too bad. I was quoted $1304 for May 2010 out of Newark NJ in the USA. However my TA called the airline directly and reserved 20 seats on the plane and this gave my guests 2 weeks to book their tickets. Once I had 10 people the airline pushed the date back to Feb 2010 to book...so some of the last minute people still have time and less pressure to book.

Well, I did get some info, but it is not helpful at all. It is set up in a PowerPoint presentation with several bouquets and bouts that past brides have used. Not exactly what I was looking for. If any of you are getting married at the Majestic, do you have any info you could pass along about their flowers? Thank you soooo much! Hi Dani, I was there in May and the WC told me they have albums and albums full of possible ideas in their office. She said they can guarantee local flowers but things like orchids are difficult. Because of this I am doing real touch flowers through a vendor I found on here and bringing them down with me. It actually will probably cost less money than the Majestic and I can use them again for my AHR. The WC did say though that details like flowers are done when you arrive so maybe that's why you just got a PP since they have many options...all of which aren't guaranteed the day of your wedding. If it's important to you to have exactly what you want I'd consider real touch...you can't tell the difference!
  9. I love the sand ceremony and I am doing that in my wedding. Google sand ceremony and there is a site that gives an extensive explaination and even possible wording for you to use in your ceremony.

Although this was not our first choice (obviously we prefer everyone at the same hotel) it is the price we have to pay for having our wedding at one of the nicest and most expensive resorts on the island. It was more important for us to have it at the PPR and have it be amazing then to settle for somewhere else we did not love as much. We are aware of the fee that guests will have to pay if not staying at the hotel and we are willing to pay this for the day of the wedding. I spoke with Teresa in length on Friday and she explained to me exactly how it works with guests from other hotels so let me know if you want more information but basically it costs $24 + 16% tax per person. So it is costing us about another $400 and we are willing to pay this. I do not think this is outrageous at all but everyone has different priorities!!! I think you said it best and atleast know that your place is more expensive and it's great you understand where some of the guests are coming from who aren't staying at the resort. I agree with people being there being top priority but it's all a personal decision. Realize that although the PPR is beautiful...there are other resorts that are just as nice but less pricey. I would have loved to go to the PPR for the wedding but my guests could not afford it and I didnt want to burden them because I wanted them there. Good luck with whatever you decide and what happens...lastly you need to be happy too with whatever you do!

Since then I have been dealing with her and she's been great! Karina Awesome...thanks for the info! I think my family met her and the front desk manager while I was there. What has Anne Marie helped you with so far? Just curious if she'd be of help to me.
  15. Are you set on PPR? I know it is pricier than some of the other resorts. Could you get married at a different resort that's more cost effective than you and your fiance go to the PPR for your honeymoon portion? Just a thought! I picked the majestic colonial for my wedding since it was better for families, price was good, etc. but my fiance and I are moving over to the elegance side to the club adults section for 7 nights after the wedding. I would have done my wedding on that side but it was more money for our guests. This is a tough situation but realize whatever you decide you have to be happy with. If some guests don't come will you be ok with that? Good luck!
  16. Hi Girls, I chose the Majestic and was there in May for a site visit! It was absolutely perfect and great value for the money. If you have facebook check out the Majestic Brides group. There's lots of info and reviews! Congrats to you all!

I see how much it is for the open bar option but how much for the hors'derves?? We just wanted that hour to do the cake, do dances (mother/father & first) and then head to the free dinner option. The only time available is 2pm so it sort of put a wrench in the whole time flow....What did anyone else do?? Did anyone else just do the semi-private free dinner and just decorate the table so sort of set it apart?? THANKS IN ADVANCE EVERYONE!!! -Nicole- Hi Nicole, We are getting married May 18, 2010 but are arriving May 14 and leaving May 28 so maybe I'll see you! But we are getting married at 3pm in the Gazebo then taking pics with the guests and doing our beach pics (we are doing pics before the ceremony too). Our photographer Phil Steingard recommended doing pics before and after since the best time for beach pics is at 6pm. At 7ish we are doing the free dinner. We then booked the parrot bar after dinner for cake, dances, speeches and partying. We felt that if we had to pay open bar it was better utilized here and would give us privacy. Have you thought about this? How many people do you have?
