I disagree about this. I was there in May 2009 for my May 2010 wedding and although the bars are close they aren't that close. It takes a couple minute walk. Also do you really want guests leaving your reception to go get drinks? My budget is tight but I would recommend doing some sort of bar whether its open bar or buying bottles and hiring bartenders. You don't want your guests to walk to get drinks and miss things. They also would have to wait for drinks at the bar like any other guests and by doing your own bar (open or bottles) you get personalized service and it's quick. The closest bar to the parrot bar is the terrace or lobby bar and the closest to the wet bar is the steakhouse/seafood restaurants. Both of these can get alittle crowded between 8-10. I wasn't going to do open bar but once I was there and saw the options and timed the walk to the bars I decided it really was better to do some sort of bar and I rearranged my money to accommodate it. They now offer open bar for a flat $500 which includes extra, most receptions are 2 hours so for $1000 if you can manage it, do it! You won't be sorry! Plus it's your wedding! Do you really want to keep walking and getting drinks instead of dancing and celebrating!? Or do your own bottles and hire the bartenders.

Also looking for flowers!!
MexicoBeachBride2010 replied to Littleone77's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
I am getting married on the 18th at the Majestic and did real touch flowers with white calla lilies, pink roses, and orchids. I have my bouquet and 3bm, also bouts for the guys, dads, corsages for the moms. I may be interested in selling them, however they are getting shipped this week. What are your wedding colors? How much were you looking to spend? I also have a matching cake topper of flowers and I bought an "H" to put through it. -

We are then using Pastor York for our wedding in punta cana. We are considering this to be our real wedding.

Hi Girls, I wanted to post on here if any of you were interested in doing pashminas for the women as favors. I bought a bunch and had to reorder some extras so I had to do a minimum order so I ordered extra extra than what I needed and wanted to sell them. I am doing tags saying "to have and to hold incase you get cold" and having them at my reception for the women. Below are the colors and quantities I have. I bought them for $4 but will sell them for $3 plus shipping to your location. If you are interested private message me with quantities and colors. The pashminas are great quality which is why I ordered more! I orered them from www.nywholesalescares.com and you can preview the colors there. I did a mix of colors which is why there is many to choose from and weird quantities. 2- light yellow 4- light sea green 9- turquise 3- purple 1- red 2- green 10- cadet blue 10- baby pink 10- light olive 12- thistle 5- light orchid 6- yellow 5- light purple 7- fuschia 2- ivory

I wouldnt mind paying a couple of them, lol...I just need drinks! Can I ask another question? I am definitly without a doubt booking DJ Mannia...what kind of music did he play? I posted on facebook for you but the terrace is no longer available just for receptions and has been this way since June 2009. You can rent this but only if you book a private dinner. I was there May 2009 and I saw a wedding on it and asked about it and I was one of the last brides to be able to reserve it for my May 18, 2010 wedding just for a reception. I also don't think it would fit 100 people on it especially with dancing. If you have the money I would recommend the Presidential Suite. I wanted that but it was too big for my group of 40 but would be awesome for 100 people. Plus you and your FI can stay there on your wedding night. The suite is also amazing! I would say the wet bar would be good too but the parrot bar is too small. Good luck planning! -

Will it be fairly easy to set up our own music to play for the reception? What about only using an ipod? Also, who sets up the music for the wedding ceremony? Do you simply pass them a CD to play? Is the music loud enough outside? Thanks a bunch. We are so excited to get down there in three weeks. Everyone on this forum has been so helpful. We enjoy reading each story. Jami My fiance and I bought a bose ipod dock and we are using that for our reception and possibly our ceremony by making playlists. I may just give a CD for the ceremony not sure yet! But I know brides have done both!

My colors are coral pink and yellow and pink sandals for kids are everywhere here. -

Thanks everyone! I am working on mine and appreciate all the ideas! -
Hi Everyone, I feel stuck and need some outside advice. Back when we started planning our wedding my fiance's brother got engaged after 5 months of dating and married just over a year after meeting. This wouldn't be a big issue but the woman he married isn't really friendly and doesn't try to get to know my fiance and I. After their wedding things with them looked to be improving so we decided to ask them to be in our wedding. Big Mistake! Since then she has been a constant source of stress and doesn't come to wedding related things. She also never seems interested in our wedding stuff and never even talks to me. I decided to talk with her about how I was feeling and used I statements alot. During our conversation she became incredibly nasty and rude and just made me feel awful. She also told me to find someone else to be in the wedding. Because of this I don't want her to come to my bridal shower and did not extend an invitation to her. She has been a constant gloomy cloud over our wedding and my fiance and I have had enough. We told my FI's parents that unless her attitude changes she is not welcome to participate in any of our wedding events i.e. shower, ceremony, reception etc. Now my fi's parents have been hinting that I should invite her to my shower and my FI's brother (also a groomsman) has told my fi's parents that if she isn't invited she doesn't want to come to the wedding. So my dilemma is do I just suck it up and invite her or do I stand my ground. Throughout this process I have continually tried to make things better with her and she doesn't ever try. She also told my fi's parents that I yelled at her and kicked her out of the wedding, which is a total lie! My fiance and I both agree that she doesn't need to be at my shower and our ceremony/reception however we don't want his brother to not come because of her. I just don't know what to do. I just want to finally have a stress free and happy time planning my wedding since thus far being a bride has not been and it's mostly due to her. I just feel only people who love and support should be included in these special events and since she made it clear she doesn't I don't see why she has to come. Any insight/advice/experiences will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
