  1. Thanks for your input. I am meeting with my travel agent this weekend and hope to get some things ironed out! I'm really excited and really want to go for a short trip before my wedding to check it out.
  2. I like the grounds, the wedding choices and packages. It seems like a great resort for the money with lots of value! It is a hard decision though!
  3. Hey Everyone... Does anyone know about how much it costs to stay at the Majestic Colonial for one week. My fiance and I can't decide if we want March or May. This year's May rates are ~$1200 but I don't know what this March has been. I know it'll obviously be alittle more expensive but I want to be able to weight my pros and cons. Thanks!
  4. Congrats and welcome to the forum. I agree...make a list of pros and cons and just realize you can't make everyone happy but you can make yourself happy and that is what matters most! Have fun exploring!
  5. Congrats and have fun browsing...you will find alot of info under the jamaica board!

  8. Hello all... I just spoke with the Majestic today (yes, I gave in and called the DR) and the WC said they are not booking weddings yet until mid April 2009. I wanted to get married towards the end of May and really want to start booking stuff. Does anyone have a confirmed date in May from the Majestic and if so who did you book it with?
  9. Congrats and welcome! have fun exploring this amazing site! )
  10. Congrats and have fun exploring the forum...it's fun and I end up spending hours on it! )
  11. Congrats and welcome to the forum. There is alot of good stuff on here to explore. Good luck with your planning and enjoy Mexico!
  12. Congrats! My fiance and I also like the Barcelo...but we might be going to Punta Cana instead! Have fun exploring the boards.
  13. My fiance and I have heard May is the rainest month for Punta Cana....what can previous May brides recommend? Or what's the weather actually like in May for those of you who have been there during this time?
  14. That was really nice thanks! Can't wait to book my trip and my wedding!
  15. I'm really glad to read all the great review. My fiance and I are considering the resort for our wedding but have never been there. My parents have been to the resort a few times and have said it is one of the best in punta cana for its price and value. Has anyone seen what the resort photographer/videographer are like?
  16. Quote: Hi I'm new here, and just recently started to plan my DW. We got engaged on December 19th 2009, and since then it has been quite overwhelming!! We just got back from talking to our TA yesterday and have narrowed it down to either the Moon Palace or the Barcelo Maya Palace. Anyone have are suggestions or advice on either one of these two? Right now we are looking at having our day on Feb. 23 2010. Thank you so much for making this thread I having been getting VERY discouraged lately and feel totally lost on where to start! Thank you all for any help you have! Ashley Hi Ashley, I'm a 2010 bride too. I like the Barcelo Maya and I have chosen it as my destination for a few reasons. 1.) I've been there many times back when they only had the Beach and Caribe and my parents go twice a year for a week and have stayed at all the resorts now (beach, caribe, colonial, tropical and the palace). I am going with my family this May for a site visit with my fiance too so I can check everything out. 2.) I like that the Barcelo has 5 different resorts and price ranges. If you want guests to come this resort gives you options and your guests options of where they want to stay and how much they want to spend. I am planning on staying at the Palace but I can still use all the other resorts so I can spend time with guests but still have the privacy and higher end experience for my honeymoon. 3.) Palace upgrades you to top shelf liquor and unlimited visits to ala carte restaurants, plus you can use the beautiful gazebo for your wedding. Added bonus = ) 4.) The beaches at the Barcelo are one of the nicest in the area! I don't know much about Moon Palace so I am biased, but I do know Moon Palace is more expensive and for that reason alone I liked the Barcelo better because I want people to come and not overly burden them. There is a great site UNOFFICIAL BARCELO MAYA | Your unofficial guide to Beach | Caribe | Tropical | Colonial | Palace that has information regarding weddings at the Barcelo and a message board for brides about weddings. Check it out for more info. Good luck on making your decision...it's a tough choice but I'm sure you will be happy either way. If you do choose the Barcelo and have any questions I'd be happy to ask them when I go in May. Just PM me!
  17. Thanks for all the posts and your ideas. I'm excited to try and make a logo! Anyone know how to increase points quickly? It's becoming a pain to not be able to open attachments.
  18. I've heard that the packages are pretty much non-negotiable but I will keep my fingers crossed for you because I am planning a May 2010 wedding there. I am going on a site visit this May so if you have any questions in the future PM and I can ask them when I go. Congrats and good luck planning!
  19. My TA told me that for non legal the requirement is 2 days, whereas a legal ceremony is 4 days. That does not include Saturdays,Sundays, or holidays I think. Hope this helps!
  20. I'm a new destination bride planning and I was wondering how you all were getting the items and the bags down to Mexico. Are you packing them in a suitcase or shipping them down? I'm also planning a May 2010 wedding and any helpful hints/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  21. I think hiring a mariachi band at some point would be really fun and it's not too expensive. Not only does it add to the magic of Mexico but it will make for some awesome pictures, especially if you and your groom pose with them! ) I definitely think you should look into it for your ceremony/cocktail hour.
  22. My resort isn't on there but my fiance's brother is having a destination wedding this july and they are getting married at couple's negril. )
  23. I haven't used Claudia before but if you go on UNOFFICIAL BARCELO MAYA | Your unofficial guide to Beach | Caribe | Tropical | Colonial | Palace there is a photo thread and many brides have used them. Claudia only does a few weddings, however she has other photographers that work for her that do weddings too. You can also search the boards on that website and there seems to be good feedback for them. I am currently researching photographers and I am leaning towards a photographer based out of Texas named Jeremy Gilliam. His work is really beautiful and I like the fact that he'd be a guest of our hotel since the Barcelo started charging a penalty fee for outside photographers. ( Good luck on the deciding...there's alot of talented people to choose from.
  24. Steph 158: Thanks so much again! I PM you and can't wait to see the packages! Congrats on your upcoming wedding!
