Hi! I'm getting married at the Majestic Colonial May 18, 2010. They charge 1250 for the symbolic ceremony or 1750 for a legal wedding but this includes your location, decoration, cake, etc but you can also do a free dinner after the wedding in the seafood or steak restaurant which saves alot of money. The resort itself is a great value for the money.

Hey Erin, My TA said the rates should be out soon. To give me an idea of how much to tell my guests she took airfare for this May and room rate for this May and add 10%...I was quoted 1270 for 7 nights with nonstop roundtrip airfare from Newark. She said this was a high rate since they don't normally go up 10% but it gave me a good idea. Flights don't come out until 330 days out so you are probably there but hopefully the hotel will release rates soon! I am going to the resort May 31-June 8 so if you need anything let me know. Hi! I am getting married May 18, 2010 at the Majestic Colonial Punta Cana. I have stayed at the Bavaro Palace and it is nice, however my parents have also stayed at the Majestic colonial and comparing the two they thought the Majestic Colonial was alot nicer and they are around the same price. I got a quote based on 2009 prices with a 10% increase (which is really high) for 1270/person for 7 nights with nonstop air based out of newark, NJ. Check them out because they do awesome weddings, their rates aren't outrageous and the resort is beautiful. Happy planning and congrats!

If you are worried about people not coming and it's important to you consider a less expensive month. In the caribbean prices go down after April 15 and the weather is still good. If you don't mind people not coming with you to the DR then stick with Jan. If you mind, consider april or may. I am getting married May 18, 2010 and expect the prices to be about $1100ish with a nonstop early flight (from Newark or philly) and the hotel for 1 week for my guests. So it just comes down to what is important to you. I wouldn't worry about anyone finding out, but I wouldn't announce it either. I mean it is a huge hassel getting stuff translated and for insurance reasons you probably want to be recognized as being legally married. If people do find out I would just explain this to them. Also I am having my TA find out if we have to be married before we go or if we can marry once we return from our wedding in the DR so our 1st time we say our vows will be at our wedding in the DR. That is also an option if the WC at the resort bend and dont require a copy of your marriage license for the symbolic ceremony.

I am a pharmacy student and work for Walgreens. They do it there also and its not too expensive.

I would use Wedding Planning Guide and Free Wedding Websites - mywedding.com. It's really easy and they have nice pages. I made mine on there and everyone seems to love it.

I actually feel different. I wrote a STD letter to our guests explaining what we are doing and included a card with travel info and a postcard that asked for an estimate for attendance of our wedding in Punta Cana to help with our planning process. We want people to come to our wedding if they are able but I also cant book anything in punta cana until i have some idea as to the number of guests planning on going and won't be sending formal invites til after Jan 2010 for our May 2010 wedding. Hey Darcy... That's how I felt too. My fiance refused to have anything but an English ceremony and once I emailed Rick, I had such a good feeling after reading the ceremony. It was definitely better than anything I saw/read. Congrats on your wedding and good luck planning!

Yes...he emails you after you give him your names. He will customize it based on anything you want. So I added a reading here or changed something there, but overall its a great ceremony. More of a ceremony that you would see in the US rather than a judge and legal stuff. If you want to read the copy he sent me let me know. It made me cry too! )

Hello...I am getting Married at the Majestic May 18, 2010, so congrats fellow Majestic Bride! My fiance and I are doing a non-legal symbolic ceremony with a pastor who is on a missions trip in Punta Cana. His name is Rick York and he has a website if you google him. We have to get married before we leave the US but this will just be a formality for us and we'd consider our wedding day May 18, 2010. Rick will preform the ceremony in English and he emails you a copy and I must say its beautiful. By doing this ceremony you can pay the lower package price 1250 vs 1750 and you can customize the ceremony as you wish. We added specific readings and also a sand ceremony. Have you thought about talking with her before your wedding day? I'm not sure how she is dealing with the loss of her husband but I know just the thought of it would make me incredibly sad. Maybe before the wedding you could talk to her in private and ask her if there's something you can do at your wedding in rememberance of him and tell her how much you appreciate that she is stepping in for her husband at your wedding. I'm sure she'll be very honored that you both cared about her husband so much. I found a poem online that I am putting in a frame and displaying candles in memory of each person who was important in our lives but is no longer with us. I'll try to attach it for you. Hey Anna...I have looked into alot of resorts and I can honestly say when you compare everything...the Majestic knocks the socks off of alot of resorts. Do you know when in May you are looking to get married? Maybe we'll be down there around the same time! ) Happy planning!

It normal takes a little while to hear a response. It's not that they aren't good at doing weddings...its that they are busy doing weddings. Give it time though because they aren't booking officially until April 2009 and it they normally take a week to get back to you. You can always give in like I did and call them or go through a travel agent. All the prices at the beginning of this thread are pretty accurate, however room rates will not be available until May 2009 for next year. I know it's frustrating but we are all waiting too so you aren't alone! When are you looking to get married?

I feel your pain...although my fiance wants a reception after the wedding he has an opinion about everything! I keep telling him he should be the bride and I should be the groom. ) But honestly, some resorts offer free meals for the guests after the wedding. What resort are you staying at? I was going to get married in Mexico and switched to Punta Cana, DR because the resort I want is the Majestic Colonial and offers a meal in one of the restaurants after the wedding for free or you can pay for a more private one. Many brides do that and then go to a bar afterwards to dance and celebrate. I would just stress to you FI that you really want this and you want to be happy when you look back on your day!

Hey Everyone, I finally figured out how to make a monogram since we finally settled on our colors: pink, tangerine and alittle green. Any opinions or advice is welcome! I hope to make a few more monograms...any ideas on good places to get clip art?

I have heard wedding packages were maybe staying around the same as they currently are. I too have a "confirmed date" (won't be confirmed until Mid April apparently) for May 27, 2010. I too hope rate don't go up that much but the resort seems beautiful and very popular among brides so I think it'll be wonderful!
