  1. We love the Omni there. It is a boutique hotel that is gorgeous! We never drove anywhere, it was perfect!
  2. Congrats! Everything looks great! Can't wait to see the pictures when you get back!
  3. We had no problems. You just use the card you have from the states...they are all the same!
  4. Your invitations are beautiful and great job on the calligraphy! They look great...your guests will be thrilled to receive them!
  5. Congrats Ashley! Everything sounds so perfect! We are getting married at Cabo del Sol and using many of the same vendors! I'm glad to hear everything went so well!!!
  6. I second the vote for Mi Casa! We love the atmosphere and food there!
  7. Hi Kiwibride, Unfortunately I got an e-mail from Ana this weekend stating that she will no longer be the coordinator. The new coordinator is Maria. I have not spoken with her yet, but hope to touch base with her later this week - her e-mail [email protected] If you would like the menu prices send me a pm with your e-mail address and I would be happy to pass them along. Good Luck!
  8. Hello 2011 Brides!!!! I can't believe I just now stumbled across this thread...I too was starting to think I was the only crazy one out there! Our date is June 10th, 2011 in Los Cabos, Mexico. We took our first planning trip there at the end of September and did our tasting at our venue. Our ceremony and reception will be held at Cabo del Sol golf club. We also met with our photographer while we were there. Since I'm a huge bargain hunter, we're still in negotiations with Cabo del Sol...so once that's locked in, we'll officially book the photographer and then move on to flowers. So much to do!!! We met with Ginger from Beyond Design earlier this week and she has been a dream come true for us! She will be doing all our stationary and she is fabulous! We too are getting an early start on our Save the Dates. I feel like it goes against all rules of etiquette, but ours will be out in the middle of January - 1.5 years in advance. I have friends in Law school, Med School, Grad school, and Nursing School...so I want to be sure to give them plenty of time to be aware of what they need to be saving! We're doing passport save the dates so they will be full of information on how much to save. Other than that I have my beach bags for my OOTs (Eddie Bauer SALE) and some of the OOT bag fillers. I love that we have so much time to hunt for awesome deals on this kind of stuff! Happy Planning!
  9. Thanks Liz! Yes, Ana is our contact and is a complete joy to work with - very prompt and accommodating. By the way, thank you for your post in the past regarding your site visit - it really assured us that Cabo del Sol was the right place for us as well! We'll be having similar weddings almost exactly a year apart!! Best wishes on your wedding planning!
  10. Fifth course: Macadamia chocolate cake or volcano cake. Both were really good, but the volcano cake was our final choice. Finally, a few pics of the clubhouse. We got to pick our place settings and linens, and they provide hurricanes, pillars, and lots of extras. The wedding coordinator, Ana, is great. We really couldn't be much happier with everything there. Our wedding will be June 10, 2011 - I'm sure it will be here before we know it! We also met with Juan Carlos Tapia...but there's really nothing I can say about him that hasn't already been said. I really believe he's the best, and we can't wait to have him capture all the great moments of our wedding! Let me know if there are any questions I can answer for you!
  11. Hi all, We recently returned from our first site visit in Cabo at the end of September and I wanted to share our experience with all of you in hopes that it will help some of you with your decisions. First off, it was HOT, and humid (humidity is uncommon for this area). Temps were average 95 F during the day each day we were there. It rained twice while we were there as well - for about 30 minutes each time. Just long enough to leave it humid out. Despite the temperature, we had an awesome time and I can't wait to go back. But, a word of caution - if your planning a wedding there in September/October be aware of the average temp. Now for the review... We stayed at Villa la Estancia - and we absolutely loved it! It's within walking distance to town along the beach if you're up for a walk - or a $7 taxi ride if you want to take it easy. It is all privately owned, so no one is trying to sell you ANYTHING while you are there. The staff was wonderful and the grounds are pristine. Each villa has 2 beds/3 baths with a full kitchen and living room. We stopped at Costco for cereal, snacks, alcohol, etc. and ended up saving a ton of money as oppose to eating out everyday. I would recommend Estancia to anyone and will certainly recommend it to my guests for the wedding. Here is a pic from our balcony: Restaurant wise our favorite find was Mi Casa. Of course there are lots of reviews on here of the restaurant so there's not a lot more I can say other than it's a can't miss in Cabo! Other great finds were Maria Corona for a fun dinner and Pepe's Tacos for late night, cheap taco stand tacos. Now for Cabo del Sol...we only set up one tasting for our trip because we knew it was exactly what we wanted for our wedding. The clubhouse only has one wedding/day, so you are their only concern on your special day. The clubhouse is also closed in the evenings, so your guests are the only ones there. It is private and BEAUTIFUL, and for us it was love at first sight. Our wedding ceremony will be held at the Ocean Meadows site. A grassy area that is next to a beautiful beach. Cocktails and appetizers will follow about 25 yards from the ceremony site. Here are some pictures from Ocean Meadows... The food was incredible. Call me crazy but I thought all you picture lovers would like to see it, so here goes. As a side note we sampled the appetizers for the cocktail hour, but I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture...we had chicken tostadas, adobe beef skewers, ceviche, and panko crusted mahi mahi. Everything was great, but the tostadas and mahi mahi were to die for! So, first course: We tried two, the first pic is crab cakes followed by coconut shrimp. The crab cakes were just ok, but the shrimp was awesome, so shrimp it is for us: Second course: Mixed green salad with papaya, blackened chicken, and sesame soy vinaigrette or spinach salad with feta, etc. We loved both and the blackened chicken was awesome, but even just trying a bit of each dish we were stuffed by the end - so we decided against the extra protein and went with the spinach salad. Third course: sorbet. We tried margarita and citrus chardonnay. We decided on citrus chardonnay only because we figured our guests will have plenty of real margaritas by the end of the trip! Main course: Pan fried sea bass or filet and lobster. Both were great, and our guests will have the option of either. For those that don't like beef or seafood a special menu will be set up. More to come...
  12. Congrats and Welcome to the Forum. I just returned from a site visit in Cabo last week and it was very HOT! I think it would be uncomfortable for an outdoor wedding. It also rained twice while we were there...but the rain lasted about 30 min and then the sun was back out. I would think twice about a Cabo wedding in October.
  13. I Love the postcards - and the stamps are adorable! No one will even notice the size! I'm actually meeting with Ginger Tuesday (she lives 30 min from my office - lucky me!), so she can get started on all our stationary - It's good to know you're so happy with her work!
  14. Wow! Thanks for the info! We leave on Saturday for our site visit and we are taking American Airlines. I was fully anticipating having to pay for each bag! Very exciting! It's like finding money in your jeans pocket that you didn't know was there...hehe!
  15. Marco, It was so wonderful of you to update us all on the status of the hurricane! I know information like this is invaluable to our upcoming cabo brides! Thank you so much, this is wonderful news for cabo residents and travelers!
  16. Megan, Those prices are high! My FI and I are headed down at the end of September and we have a 2 bed/3 bath oceanview suite at la estancia for $300/night. I realize there are differences based on the season, etc. but your prices seem really high. We are not doing the AI though, as we plan to eat out often. PM me if you are interested and I can send you the contact info of the person I talked to. He said they work with weddings all the time. Hope this helps!
  17. Cammie, I went through cabovillas.com, however, when I was looking into these villa a few months back I was told that they were currently up for sale and could not be guaranteed for our wedding date (which is in 2011) because they could have new owners by that time. Were you aware of this? Since our wedding is so far out we decided to not take any chances and have decided on cabo del sol. It offers the private setting we want, without having to worry about finding a new place at the last minute because our villas were sold. As far as the dance floor though, We had planned on about 50 guests and we were told there would be plenty of room. We also had planned to have dinner set up on the beach or at one of the other villas, so that we wouldn't have to worry about moving tables for the dance floor. good luck!
  18. Hi Megan, We will be staying at one of the villas at la estancia for our site visit at the end of September. We're getting the two bedroom, so it will be nice to go to costco and be able to eat some meals in the room. We decided to not go with the meal plan because we have several restaurants we want to check out - but I think it's awesome that they give their guests that offer. I'll be sure to post lots of pics when we get back. Also, a good friend has his timeshare at del arco and loves it. According to him, Estancia is a little bigger, nicer, and quieter. All the rooms at la estancia are privately owned, whereas arco and palmar are more timeshare based. Hope this helps...I should have lots of pics up in October. Good Luck!
  19. I would definitely put all your items in a shower caddy if you decide on small stuff - those were invaluable in the dorms when I was in college! And the bath wrap is a great idea, I used a great VS knee length terrycloth robe for the same purpose.
