We have the same issue with our guests having different meal choices. We didn't want to do place cards, so instead guests will pick up a card with their name and meal choice only when they walk into the reception. Then they can sit where ever they would like and the waiter will know their menu selection based on their card.
  2. If you decide to do place cards I just saw the cutest ones on etsy the other day. They are little seahorses that sit on the edge of your guests' wineglasses. Adorable! I don't think they would work in a windy spot, but they are worth checking out. Just search seahorse place cards on etsy.com
  3. Hi Girls, We finally were able to sign our contract with Cabo del Sol! It took 5 months and 3 wedding coordinators to get to this point! After the first wedding coordinator left Cabo del Sol I began to stress and moved the wedding to Playa Fiesta in PV, then moved it back to Cabo...then that wedding coordinator quit, I freaked, and we moved the wedding to Islamorada Key. Once we had nearly everything figured out in Islamorada the third wedding coordinator at Cabo del Sol started and contacted me. She knew EVERYTHING about my original wedding plans and our original site visit and completely put me at ease. So, we got our dream wedding location afterall! I know this is all stressful ladies, but it will all work out in the end! We also just sent in the deposit for our photographer, Juan Carlos Tapia! I'm so excited to finally have a REAL date and a REAL location - June 10, 2011!
  4. Maria Corona is a great little restaurant that is affordable, I'm not sure if they are open for lunch though.
  5. I agree on the RSVP idea from Jennifer. We are putting all the information for our Welcome Cruise on our website. On the Save the Date we are putting recommended travel dates so people will be there for the cruise, then on the invitation RSVP card we will add a line for the cruise.

  7. Congrats and welcome. My 2 cents on Cabo in October is that it is generally very hot. We were there for site visits in early October 2009, and it was about 95 every day. It was also humid and rained twice while we were there. Just something to be aware of in your planning. It can certainly be done, but you may want to look into an indoor reception, or one later in the day once it's a bit cooler out. Good Luck!
  8. I would start looking at locations and resorts now. That way you can plan a site visit well in advance to decide where you want to be married. The frustrating part is waiting for the new prices to come out, as mentioned above many resorts will not have prices available until 12-15 months prior to the wedding. Good Luck and Happy Planning!
  9. Wonderful review! What a great looking bridal party! Congrats on a beautiful wedding!
  10. Congrats Nadine! Everything looked beautiful! Thanks for including the brown Christmas tree pic, too funny! You looked gorgeous!
  11. Hello and welcome to the forum! I am a 2011 cabo bride and we are planning our wedding at Cabo del Sol Clubhouse. We weren't entirely thrilled with the accommodations at Cabo del sol, so we, along with the majority of our guests, will be staying at Villa la Estancia. We stayed there during our site visit and could not have been happier! I absolutely loved it! Let me know if you have any questions about it...we booked through bob at destinationcabo.com and he gave us great rates. As far as villas, we looked into those as well and I would highly recommend trying vrbo.com before anything else. They have the best rates by far! I have a review of our site visit with cabo del sol and villa la estancia pictures on the cabo forum if you are interested! Congrats and Good Luck!
  12. Congrats Kristin! It is very exciting to finally cross the venue off the list of things to do! We actually didn't want the cactus or the rock in our photos, so we picked out a location between the two so that neither will be in any close up pictures. (It's the background of my photo below.) Our wedding is a year from this June...so I completely understand what you mean with the a/c option. Especially after coming in from the cocktail hour outside, if it is hot out it will be a lifesaver for our guests! Good Luck! I may be biased, but I think you picked the perfect spot!
  13. Whoa, $15,000?!?!?! Sounds like you are planning some pretty elaborate floral decor! I am using Florenta. Our wedding is about 60 people and we were able to stay right around $1,000 for floral. This includes the chuppa, my bouquet of 50 roses, 3 bridesmaids bouquets, petals for the aisle and low profile centerpieces.
  14. What a great planning thread! Thanks for all the pictures and templates! Everything looked perfect!
  15. It looks like you had the PERFECT day for a wedding! The sky and beach is just gorgeous! Congrats and thanks so much for the review!
  16. Sorry to hear that Jenny...at least you have a really early start to all your planning and more time to save! It will be worth the wait!
  17. We were in Cabo in September and walked the beach into town from our villa. While the sand is rough, it's bearable. We had about a 1 to 1 1/2 mile walk and it was more of a pain to try to walk with sandals on than it was to walk barefoot.
  18. We're hoping to sign our contract with cabo del sol in Feb. and we'll send out the save the dates as soon as that is confirmed for June 2011. We're doing passport save the dates that are being designed by "serendipity beyond design" so the save the dates will be full of info to allow our guests to know exactly what to save and when to start booking. I figure the sooner they are out the better.
  19. These are great! Your guests are going to love them! The "gringo recovery kit" is too cute! I think I'm going to have to steal that idea!!
  20. Congrats! We are getting married at Cabo del Sol, but our guests are staying at Villa la Estancia, right next store to del arco. You should look into destinationcabo.com for your room block. We are working with Bob and have gotten the best possible rates from him. You could also have your guests check out vrbo.com where timeshare owners from del arco can rent out their unit for great prices. Good Luck and Happy Planning!
  21. Hi girls - I noticed a post on here about booking "adventures" through the hotel or through the company directly. I realize the post is old, but thought I'd add my two cents for you all...When you book through your hotel, they are almost always charging you more than the company would itself, essentially allowing them to collect a fee for providing you this service. If you are trying to save a little money then go DIRECTLY to the source. Here's an example, while we were down for our site visit, my fiance and uncle decided to go deep sea fishing. Knowing how things work, they refused to let me book something in advance. So we all walked down to the marina one day for them to find a boat for themselves. They found a boat , grabbed one of the guides as he was getting off the boat, and negotiated and arranged a trip for the next day. The price they got was MUCH less than what I could have booked one for. The next day they got on the boat and the captain asked them how much they were charged. They told him and the captain said he charges $100 less if you book directly through him. In other words, the guide collected $100 for himself just for booking the trip for his own captain! We ran into this more than once...just an FYI!
