How much to spend on BM's gifts?
Donie Jordan replied to TLGnhci's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
For our bridesmaids we bought their dresses and I would like to get them flip video cameras, however, they have informed me that they all want to have their hair and make-up done and I don't feel comfortable making them pay for that...so they may be getting hair and make-up instead (no fun!). For the boys we bought their pants, shirts, and sandals for the wedding and fiance is paying for them all to go deep sea fishing together the day before the wedding. -
Good Luck Susanna! Sounds like a busy trip! I can't wait to hear about all your decisions when you get back!

My fiance's mother and brother did the same thing! His father is deceased and he really does not have any extended family, so his two sisters will be his only family members at the wedding. Meanwhile, I'll have at least 20 family members that will be there to support him as well, in addition to all our friends. His mother and brother just flat out decided they are not going to Mexico. We think it is ignorant and did not talk to them for several months as a result, but in the end you just have to blow it off and not let it bother you anymore. The way we look at it, we will never regret having a beautiful destination wedding in Mexico with (most of) our family and friends...but she will always regret missing her son's wedding. She is the one that will have to live with it in the end.

I agree completely about Laguna! I was obsessed with the idea of it but no matter what it just would not work out. Cabo del Sol is a golf course and golf club. The ceremony can take place on the golf greens or on the beach, and the reception at the clubhouse, which is completely open and has gorgeous views. It has glass panel doors so it can be closed off and the a/c can be turned on if it is hot. So..although it is not a villa, the course and clubhouse are closed in the evenings. You get the privacy that a villa has to offer. I have lots of info including prices, etc. if you are interested. We started planning over a year ago and I don't think zoetry was open at the time, so we did not consider it. I believe it is all inclusive though and further from town - both of which we were trying to avoid. The nice thing about having the wedding at Cabo del Sol is that your guests can stay anywhere they would like without having to bother with day passes, etc. Good Luck!

We looked very seriously into having our wedding at La Laguna. It didn't work out, however, for several reasons. The property is pretty far from any other accommodations and from town, and we wanted our guests to be close to us without having to drive or pay expensive cab fees everyday. Additionally, there is a three night minimum rental plus event fees, or a $10,000 event fee with no rental. We just could not justify the cost. I have included the document that was sent to me by the owner, hopefully it will answer some questions. We ended up deciding on Cabo del Sol because it offers the privacy of a villa, without having to separately rent everything and hire caterers. I've also heard good things regarding the 3 villas Amanda, Serena, and Anne-Lei. They are all next to each other and located directly on the beach. Unfortunately they were for sale when we were looking, but there is a review on the forum from a wedding at the villas and it seems like the wedding was wonderful! Good Luck! Â La Laguna - Events.doc

It was very important to us that both the wedding and reception be exclusive to our wedding party. At Cabo del Sol Golf Course, weddings are held in the evenings after hours, so we will have the entire course and golf club to ourselves. I have never seen a wedding at the villa group, but the grounds are beautiful! Â

No problem! I'd rather stuff go to someone that can use it! We are working with Florenta for flowers. Lola has been very sweet, but I am surprised by prices. She gave us the lowest quote out of anyone though. You're going to have so much fun on your site visit! We were there this time of year last year and it was super hot - near 100 everyday - so pack plenty of sundresses! I'm pretty sure I spent the entire week in sundresses and swimsuits!

I know Luz Maria has hurricanes with pillar candles, but I'm interested to see what you find out! I bought about 60 glass filled votive candles that I'll be taking down with me, because the florist wanted to charge me $3 per votive!! I'm not sure how they will last but if we have any leftover or if they still have lots of burning time I'd be happy to leave them with Luz Maria for you if you're interested...we certainly don't want to be lugging them back anyway.

Hi Rebecca and welcome! We love Estancia...it is gorgeous and in the perfect location. All of our guests are staying there for our wedding and reception which is taking place at Cabo del Sol golf course.

Brittany, I think your wedding is at Cabo del Sol the day after mine (mine is June 10th), is that right? Not sure how I missed that earlier! Anyway, just wanted to say good luck on the site visit - can't wait to hear about it when you get back! By the way...have you decided on centerpieces? I'm having a hard time deciding if it's worth all the extra money for flower/candle centerpieces when the venue is so pretty alone. I was quoted $55/table by my florist just for three glass vases with hurricane candles and sand. Frustrating! Â

Hi and welcome! I received a rate of $40/person, but others have since then tried to get the same rate and have not had much luck, unfortunately. I received that rate through my coordinator at Cabo del Sol. If they are not willing to give you that rate I know people have been successful at getting that same rate through the sunrider, Good Luck!  How's everyone's planning going? My fiance purchased his suit and groomsmen's pants from banana republic recently. They are having some great sales on their summer stuff if anyone is interested. Now if only I could decide on a dress! decisions, decisions... Â

Congrats and welcome! There is a beautiful catholic church in San Jose del Cabo. There is also a chapel that is part of the Sheraton complex. As far as photographers, you can do a search under the Cabo vendors and find many great options. We are using Juan Carlos Tapia.

Hi! Welcome to the forum! I am a Cabo bride as well. If you are still deciding on a date it may be important to note that it will be cooler in November. September/October are two of the hottest months in Cabo. Good Luck and happy planning!

Hey ladies! Things are moving along smoothly so far. Flights were just released for our wedding week so I am keeping an eye on those to see when they are going to drop. Any advice on when to purchase airfare? I'm so used to flying last minute for business I'm not sure how far in advance is actually the "best" time to purchase. My TA says you just have to constantly be watching (which I have faith she is)...but it would be good to get input from others! Other than that, we're working on ceremony and cocktail hour music. My girls picked their dresses from J Crew and we received them last month. I LOVE them and since we purchased them for the girls I am thrilled that we were able to get a great price. Same idea as Knbell22 - same color, different styles. Now, if only I could get the men motivated on shopping, lol! We sent out brochures a few weeks ago with resort info and are sending out postcards today letting everyone know flights are available (both from Vistaprint). Hope everyones planning is coming along! Time is really starting to fly!
