You are going to need permission to get your pictures taken at the ruins, however - Coba might be your best bet. They ruins are spread out throughout a huge jungle area that you might be able to sneak your dress in and find some remote locations. There is a beautiful cenote and lake nearby as well. I would suggest taking a day before the shoot to scout the area out

Congratulations Heather. I'm in Scottsdale as well. It looks like we are getting enough girls that we can start having some happy hours:)

breakup or forgive & not forget
Destination Scout replied to karenk77's topic in Just venting or funnies
I have to say that I agree with Sammysgirl. I am so sorry that you are going through this. While you two can probably work through this, this is not a good way to start your life together. The trip is a completely different issue. Can people get their deposits back? How much would you lose if you covered the cancellation? If you don't want to cancel the trip, just cancel the wedding and make it a vacation. Change the purpose of the trip and have a smaller wedding when you are ready. -
Congratulations! I was just in Tulum scouting weddings for two other couples. You can schedule a catamaran out of Akumal, but they don't do evening trips because they don't have sonar. Let me know if you have any questions.

Unique Reception Ideas~
Destination Scout replied to iceapple's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
I had the same though NaM. I have a caterer that specializes in "intimate affairs". Maybe you could do a private dinner somewhere with some type of event afterwards. Or, just an excursion of some type. -
Hi Sperry - I work in Tulum a lot. A 15% discount on room an food is a pretty good deal. Sometimes you can get a 20% discount on room alone, but if you are getting the discount on food I think it evens out. I'm doing hair trials at two hairstylists in town in mid-November. I'll be posting pictures an reviews when I am finished. I usually split ground transporation between guests using the service. I like to book a few shuttles, rental cars, and bicycles.

How large of a hotel do you need? There are some great ones but some only have 6 rooms.

Hello Bujama, A lot of girls choose not to have a legal ceremony in Mexico because it is expensive and time consuming. You have to be there two days before the ceremony, have bloodwork done, and the ceremony has to be exactly as scripted by the government in spanish. However, if that is what you want I would contact Julieta who is a coordinator in Cancun and she can help you out. Her e-mail address is [email protected] She is very flexible and speaks great english. She is available on Skype if you let her know ahead of time what time to expect your call.

What is your favorite brand of Hot Sauce?
Destination Scout replied to Alyssa's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
My husband is a hot sauce connousier. He actually knows which peppers are used for which sauce. Being a chemist, he could tell you a lot more about it, but his favorite is D.L. Jardine's Texas Champagne. It is ia cayenne pepper sauce, but a nice balance between spice and flavor without too much vinegar. -
Vows
Destination Scout replied to scottishbride's topic in Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya, Cancun & surrounding areas
It is true that in a Mexican civil ceremony you must use the legal verbage in the legal language (spanish). For those that want their wedding to be legal but personal, some have the civil ceremony in a little nook somewhere and then perform the personalized one in front of their guests. -

I finally accepted that my sister didn't want to be at my wedding and although it's hard, got over it and have just avoided her. I have not seen my sister since April due to scheduling differences. We live 2 hours apart. We have not spoken in a month but I will see her on Sunday. I did send her an invite so that she couldn't say I didn't invite her. I found out today that she has been calling my travel agent to get quotes and trying to get the TA to beat Sky Auction prices of like 10 bucks a night, which of course the TA can't do. I'm embarassed that she would even try to do that. Our rate is aready less than 100/night for an AI resort! I really don't even want her there now because she has done nothing but make me upset and I don't want her to ruin my day. Maybe this was more of a vent than a confession but I feel better now! I'm so sorry that you are going through this. Can you talk to your sister? I went through the same thing, although my sister wasn't open about not wanting to go until I was already in Mexico and the whole thing blew up at my wedding. I definitely wouldn't want that to happen to you, but I think that if we had talked about it before hand the whole thing could have been avoided. I would have been happy if he she had chosen to stay home or come happy, but coming and being unhappy was not the right choice. How is your diet going? I remember you posting about it. My friend went on something that sounds very similar and she lost a ton of weight and has kept it off.

Congratulations! I just had my second wedding, and I am glad that I put the effort that I did into it. It worked out amazingly, and we were all so pleased that it was such a wonderful event. Welcome to the forum.

Newbie - Help me with a venue/location
Destination Scout replied to Chill Bride's topic in Newbies!!
Oh, forgot to post about power. You will be fine at Zamas, Anna y Jose's and probably not even at El Pez (not sure though). Anywhere else you will need to rent a generator if you are having a DJ. That's a job for your wc though. -
Newbie - Help me with a venue/location
Destination Scout replied to Chill Bride's topic in Newbies!!
Cesiak is a great location for a sunset the reception. They have about the only view of the sunset in the area. I definitely wouldn't suggest trying to have your guests stay in the tents though, and the ceremony location is rather iffy. The beach there is gorgeous with a sand cliff. The trees are rather wind abused and not very pretty. Ana y Jose's is about half-way along the beach/hotel row. So I wouldn't say that you have privacy, but it all depends on your season and time of day. It's fairly empty any where in Tulum though from May until November. I get frustrated with Ana y Jose's because of what I call "forced spending". You are required to use their vendors or pay a vendor fee. If you are going to stay at their hotel they require you to book the whole hotel for a week. That type of business doesn't sit well with me, but if it works for you, they have a lot of experience and things run smoothly. Zamas has a great location with one of the larger beaches, interesting rock features, a dance floor, cute rooms and great food. Their service is slow and spotty. You will want to bring someone in that you can trust to run the show for you. They can't house 50 people but it is along a great row of hotels and you could have people stay in the surrounding hotels and it would be the same as everyone staying in a larger hotel. It may be a few minutes walk to everyones room but everyone will have a room practically on the beach. La Zebra doesn't like to host weddings. Their restaurant does great business and they don't want to shut that down. However, their sister property El Pez is a great option. The two hotels are not close together and you would need to have transportation if they were staying at La Zebra. You could have people stay closer to El Pez by having them stay at the Maya Spa. -
What about sending her flowers?
