  1. I highly recommend my brides purchase enough wedding insurance to cover their venue & group hotel room deposit. In today's economy any company can go out of business and your deposit would be lost. The fact that you've just sent a lot of money out of the country just adds to the complexity. The insurance is generally inexpensive considering what is at risk. I've seen rates around $300 that will cover a $9K deposit.
  2. This is complicated because everyone has different technical levels. There was no way we could ask my mother in law to load all her pictures or download all of ours. She would call the dh and spend hours on the phone crying while he tried to play IT helpdesk. We found that the easiest way to do this was ask everyone to send us a CD/or ftp us the files (depending on their skillset), and then we burnt them all on to one set of CD's and mailed them out to everyone. Hopefully someone else has an easier solution.
  3. Don't get discouraged Cougs and Mel. You are working out a ton and that is an awesome lifestyle change. The weight will come off. Amanda - you're going crazy over there. Keep up the good work girls.
  4. A snake? Ewww. I'm glad to hear your dog is ok though. Tash - hope you feel better.
  5. Glad I can help. You'll have to post pictures so that we can see how it turns out.
  6. Delauren your wedding will be amazing. I love Essencia. Blue Tulum has 100 rooms. Milamores in Tulum has 25 rooms and can fit 75 people. There are private homes and boutique hotels within a 2 minute alk that could accomodate the rest as well as offer a variety of choices to your guests. There might be something closer to Cancun if you talk to Julieta at Tu Página Web Gratis - Mex.tl or Raffelle at EW Cancuns.
  7. Is the house you are renting an option? It would be easy to bring in a caterer, if that's what you wanted to do. What about Le Reve, Al Cielo (Xpu-Ha), or renting a catamaran out of Playa?
  8. Great job Tyra! That's so great that you ordered a salad. I'll have to start doing that. I had a great day yesterday. I went to the gym, stayed within my calorie limit and even went out to dinner and had a huge salad (with very little dressing). Day 1 - no alchohol. Happy weekend girls. Keep up the good work.
  9. It depends on what area you are looking for. Your best bet is to use the advanced search and search for "Wedding Coordinator", limiting your search to the Riveira Maya subforum. I like Julieta at WELCOME 2010! JULIETA your WEDDING FLORIST AND COORDINATOR and EW Cancun EW Events & Weddings for the Cancun area.
  10. I think you should pick a date and destination now. If you are planning on using a resort or villa and/or outside coordinator, you can choose that now as well. I would wait until a few months before to get to the specifics, like exact location of the ceremony, flower and food choice. Things change so quickly in Mexico some of the smaller details are easier to wait until the date gets closer.
  11. Tash - I am with you on the cusp. I've been bouncing around the same pound and a half over the last week. My husband's had friends over all week and the alchohol has been quite a challenge. I blew it earlier in the week and had promised myself no alchohol for the rest of the week. What do you know, we went out last night and I had a glass of wine. NO. WILL. POWER.
  12. Congratulations! You'll find tons of ideas here. Welcome to the forum.
  13. You can't change the wording in the legal ceremony in Mexico. The wording has to stay the same and it has to be in spanish. However, you can have the legal exchange of vows and add your own exchange in english.
  14. Matt - I tend to disagree with you. Circular formations can be designed with enough space in between the guests for the photographer to get great shots of the wedding couple. In fact - I think it adds a lot to the pictures to have the couple surrounded by their loved ones, instead of random shots of guests sitting in chairs.
  15. Sigh* down .2 lbs. I didn't eat well half the time, but I have started exercising more. Now to do both at the same time.
  16. You were on vacation. I think that's to be expected. You're just starting a little late:) Great job Mel. All of your hard work will pay off. Cougs - I'm right there with you.
  17. I did. We had taken our group through the day before and they allowed us to do a ttd session for $40. It worked out really well for us since we got there when they first thing on a Thursday morning when they had first opened and no one came down into the cenote for 3 hours. I'm not sure what the name of the cenote was, but it's the first one on their tour and it has a zipline into it. Do you have any specific questions?
  18. Congratulations Cisabella. I love the RM, in fact I was married in Tulum last year and we had our reception in Pablo Escobar's old house. You have a ton of options.

But, I've vowed to actually be a good girl from now on and FI comes in with the most luscious, chewy, moist, good-smelling brownies with praline pecans (that daughter made)... um, um gooood. Now I want pizza, brownies, orange chicken, pot stickers, an angus burger with swiss, mushrooms and bacon, rocky road ice cream.... my head is filling with an abundance of food!! I so hate being fat... I feel the same way. I do so well at work, and then I come home and my husband has picked up a pizza, zinfandel port, and dark chocolate. While I'm still working on it, I've learned that I have to make up for it by eating a lot of vegetables at work, and saving about half of my calories for the evening. I've also learned to measure out the portions. I can have 1 piece of pizza and then fill up on veggies while my two teenage sons can have 5 slices each. It doesn't always work, but then I try to get the gym and burn up the extra calories that I didn't have the willpower to resist. Good luck - it is super tough. That's how I put on all the extra weight in the first place. Oryx - hope you feel better.
  20. Welcome Lindsay! I'm in Scottsdale as well. I have a friend who visists Hawaii a few times a year. I'll have to ask him which island. Congrats on your engagement!
  21. Wow! Great job girls. And fantastic losses Holly & Cougs.
  22. Ooh I forgot another great recipe I just tried: Layer 1 pita bread (Kangaroo fiber - 160 calories) w 1/2 c low fat cottage cheese mixed with fresh parsley & basil (100 calories) top with grape tomatoes (20 calories)
