Wedding dress HELP!
Destination Scout replied to Rhi4Matt's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I think your dress choices are gorgeous. It may be more work than you are looking for, but perhaps you could have yours made. Now that you have a picture of what you want, a seamstress should be able to make it for you. Just make sure you have a contract setting timelines, costs, etc. -
How fun! Now you have someone to share your planning with - and you will have a great turn-out. Congratulations!

Hello Tiffik, I experienced the same frustration when looking at Maya Luna. This last year, the private party fee was only $500 without any guests at the hotel. That is quite the price hike. How many guests do you think you will have? There are a lot of options in Tulum.

It's easy to feel overwhelmed, but don't let it get you down. Welcome and contratulations!

My husband has a tungsten ring. The other way to get it off is to chip the edges, which will then shatter the ring. The only con for this metal is getting a matching band in your size. If you need a ring smaller than a thin band that is smaller than a size 6 you will need to have it custom made. They cannot make anything in a thing band smaller than a size 4, but the titanium is a close enough match.

Hello again! I've been a member on the forum for a few months and have to say this is a terrific group of girls. The moderators do a great job of keeping this a positive site with upbeat feedback. Currently I work as a corporate desk jockey who is quite good at my job. I've worked closely with our CFO and business management team for 10 years. If you need a database trolled, an analytical report created or a macro written, I'm your girl. Exciting huh?!? I love my team, and I love the challenges my job presents me, but it has always been just that - a job. It is a means of putting my two sons through school and allowing us to live comfortably. My goal has always been to get them through school and then to get a job that allows me to travel, either as an airline stewardess or college professor (Indiana Jones is my hero). I was never able to find anyone to travel with, so I learned to travel by myself. As a single-traveler I've found wonderful ways to explore areas. I love traveling via bicycle or public trasit system and staying in hostels. I enjoy chatting it up with the local bartenders and wait staff. I have explored quite a few unique locations: Japan, South Korea, St. Kitts, Nevis, Antigua, Anguila, Hawaii, Guatemala, the Mojave desert, and Germany. I speak Japanese, Spanish, Sequel and VBA (it's a techie joke) and love learning about different cultures. I get a kick out of getting off the plane with only a Lonely Planet and a backpack to explore an area. My husband has learned that I don't take vacations, I go on adventures. I found that this was the best way to plan my wedding. My husband's only request was to have our ceremony on a white sand beach out of the country. I required that it was a pristine beach. With 7 plane tickets to buy I quickly settled on Tulum, Mexico as our location. After months of frustrating internet search and only a florist and photographer hired, I delayed my wedding and bought a ticket to Cancun. I spent five days in Tulum and was able to find my ceremony location, a host for our reception, and confirm all arrangements with my vendors. I also met most of the hotel and private home owners in the area. I now have a slew of connections and understand the issues and work arounds for seemingly simple (but not due to logistical issues) requests such as bon fires, private catamaran cruises, and paying vendors in a foreign country. Many of you have seen my wedding review of my in Tulum, Mexico, http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t41016 It was a beautiful experience and a memory I will treasure forever. One of the best parts was hearing my husband announce that I should go into business as a wedding coordinator for poorly publicized areas. In the short time that I have been exploring this option, I find that this is a well received service by the local vendors. They appreciate my business management experience, and I am able to help them by acting as a cultural bridge between the small business owner and American brides. I am excited to announce the official opening of the licensed Destination Scout, LLC. My website is Index.html Currently my forte is Tulum weddings (although I have also helped with one in Germany). A number of girls are interested in 2010 weddings, and it will be quite easy for me to arrange these due to my frequent interaction with the vendors and trips to the area. I offer services ranging from vendor lists, to full vacation hosting. This includes me arriving on location to greet your guests and play host to them their entire vacation so that you can enjoy your vacation instead of worrying about logistics. I will be running semi-annual site inspection tours to the Tulum area. This will allow my clients an opportunity to take a girl's trip to see all of the different options and meet various vendors. I am also available for travel anywhere. I am excited by any opportunity to expand my portfolio.

Thanks Butterfly! The ceremony was absolutely gorgeous and everyone said they enjoyed it. I see you are getting married in Tulum as well. I would highly recommend Charlie & Maria if your coordinator can get them. -
Overwhelmed...where do you even begin?
Destination Scout replied to CnC's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
The girls have given great advice. I have to agree: 1) Write down your priorities. White sand beach? Rainforest? Travel time? Flight budget? Weather restrictions? Accomodation type? 2) Once you have your priorities find a location that offers the surroundings you want (beach, rainforest, etc). Browing TripAdvisors/Trip Ideas is a great way to start. Do some flight searches for locations within your flight budget & times. I've found that most airlines reduce their flight prices for vacation locations 6 weeks from departure, so run your tests in that time range. Now you have your location. 3) Resort vs boutique accomodations. If you want a resort contact a TA. There are a lot of good ones on this site. If you want boutique travel it may be best to schedule a site visit in the carribean. PR is not the same when you get out of the US. You can save months of angst by visiting a location for a week. Good luck! -
Congratulations Kayte! I was married in Tulum in February this year. Great weather! Here was my Tulum review: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t41016 You will have so much fun!!!

I would try Julieta at [email protected] She was my florist. She made a good point of being quick to respond and punctual. She also has someone who does everything - from cakes, to lighting - everything. She's an absolute doll. Tell her I said hi if you talk to her. Good luck!

Malisa's Tulum Review Feb 2009
Destination Scout replied to Destination Scout's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Hi Valenka, Milamores is two mansions that are run as hotels, so they are not cabanas, if that is what you are asking. The rooms are generally attached to a main hallway that runs across the floor. Each house has a kitchen/dining room and living room that act as common areas. The staff, of course, does the cooking. They have a total of 21 rooms that can host up to 70 people. Many of the rooms are private king rooms but they also have suites that have separate bedrooms and living rooms. Many of them have hand tiled jacuzzi sized bathtubs. The hotel offers room service and bar service both in the house and on the beach. Room rates in the low season range from $150-$200/night. They do host both the ceremony and the reception. Their current rate is $150/person for the wedding/ceremony, including private dinner and open bar. Let me know if you have more questions - and congratulations! -
Musical get togethers? OMG! I can only imagine:)

Thanks girls:) Can you imagine? I'm sitting on my patio with a glass of wine. I've got an acre lot with mountain views to one side and a lovely sunset to the other, and the sound of a first year student learning bagpipes in the background. LOL! One of my friend's is threatening to get my son lessons for his birthday!

So we just moved into our new house We met the new neigbors. He is a BAGPIPE INSTRUCTOR. Unfortunately the city doesn't allow him to run his business out of his home anymore. Shouldn't they have to list stuff like this in the home inspection?

Scavenger hunt
Destination Scout replied to annieanddaryl's topic in General Wedding Planning Information
Love your ideas Lil Mis Frog We hid several bottles of tequila and then had them draw scrabled word clues. For example if the bottle of tequila was hidden in a palm tree they drew a clue that said: erte They then had to unscramble it to spell "tree" and then go search all the trees. -
