  1. Las Caletas is an amazing location. Your guests will be so pleased and you will have a fabulous time. Congratulations!
  2. I love the center centerpiece with the trailing little flowers. Beautiful work Mishka.
  3. This is a fun article on treehouse restaurants. They look like great reception venues. Eating in a tree: Six wild, tree house restaurants | Yahoo! Green
  4. You could also look through some spa magazines or websites. Spa hotels often have very intimate settings and may give you a different perspective. I also love the TripAdvisor Travel Guides, Lonely Planet, and best of all, booking a flight and hoofing it around a new location.
  5. I'm so glad to hear it. It looks like a great place.
  6. It took me 3 months to find a city, 6 months to find a ceremony location and 14 months to find a reception location. Moral of the story is to get someone on the ground that you trust. A two day site visit can save you a year of google time. Good luck! You will find a ton of information here that will save you a ton of google time.
  7. Congratulations! Do they pay you at all? Maybe that would help convince your FI. Men!
  8. November is the end of hurricane season. A lot of hotels only count the first week as low season. November receives about half as much rain as Aug-Oct. Here is a historical weather link. Cancun Weather
  9. Here is a link to the weather history. Cancun Weather The high in December is 83. The water is always warm, as you are on the Carribean side of Mexico. It may be hard to book a wedding Dec. 31, but I wouldn't necessarily rule it out, especially if you are looking into renting a hacienda. Holiday room rates are about $50/night more expensive than in the low season....just something to keep in mind.
  10. How large of a hacienda do you want? There is Mil Amores in Tulum (No Me Olvides) which was actually Pablo Escobars home and then several others in Soliman Bay Soliman Bay Bungalows/Casitas: Rental,Guide,Reservations
  11. I just wanted to post an updated itinerary: All of the hotels have offered a standard site visit rate for a total savings of over $600 for the 4 nights Hotels: Nov. 11La Reve (Playa del Carmen) Nov. 12Blue Tulum Nov. 13Mil Amores Nov. 14Ocho Excursions: Hidden Worlds Tulum Ruins Snorkeling in Ak-ul Lagoon Meals/Cocktails Casa Miel Mil Amores Ocho Blue Tulum El Pez Hechizo Personal chef that we could use to cater Ginger Cesiak Charlie's
  12. He must have been dying inside while you were yelling at him. How funny
  13. I forgot to mention. If you do decide to put down the deposit, make sure you buy travel insurance (or wedding insurance for you non-travel expenses) before sending a large amount money out of the country.
  14. I'm not sure about Costa Rica, but a 30% deposit is typical in Mexico. Just be sure to negotiate the refund date. If you have to put 50% down, ask that it be fully refundable until 4-6 months from the arrival date.
  15. Actually, I do recommend setting it up beforehand whether you rent a car or hire a driver through a tour company. I just don't have a tour company to recommend. If you are worried about the location of resorts, this is a pretty good map. It can probably help map out your itinerary. http://vacationcancunmexico.com/imag...a-maya-map.gif
  16. Tracy you might want to consider renting a car for the day. There is only one road in this part of Mexico and it's impossible to get lost. However, if you want to rent a car and driver you can ask any of the local tour companies or your hotel's concierge service to set it up for you. I'm sorry, I don't have a recommendation of a specific company since I always drive.
  17. How fun! Finding the location is the hardest part.
  18. Sounds great! Any ideas where in the Dominican? It's a gorgeous place.
  19. Hmmm....I thought we had more of our photobooth pictures on flickr. Here are a few. Flickr: toddneville's Photostream
