Sandals Obituary
frank13 replied to Carlitarenee's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
that was so funny. what a great idea to let your guests in on the joke. I just laughed so hard. I think all of us have FI's with some sort of embarrassing article of clothing etc that resembles the story of "the duck tape sandals". Mine wears a grateful dead t shirt with so many holes he might as well not wear a shirt. I find it hysterical and mortifying at the same time. -

Or am I gonna have to get some dyed yellow? TIA Shan13 I think you should try and find shoes to have them dyed that way you can be sure they are comfortable in your size before you commit and you know you will like the dyed color they will provide you with. I know there are a lot of dyable and bridal shoe lines out there and you can probably search for that in google. I know even payless has about 12 different show styles in all sizes that are inexpensive and available in over 60 colors. I hope that helps a little. -

Show off your shoes....

everyone's shoes are so pretty! I especially love those CL hot pink pumps a few posts back, gorgeous. I do have a question for all you shoe lovers out there though. I hate wearing heels and I think I want to at least be barefoot during the ceremony but I know at the reception I need to put something on my feet, but I don't just want to wear white flip flops. does anyone have any suggestions for flats/sandals that are dressy enough for a wedding, are comfortable and don't come with a big price tag. thanks! -
Hi Tanya, Congrats and Welcome. this site has so much information, I have found it really helpful so far. I am getting married at RIU Ocho Rios next May. My FI proposed in Ocho Rios a year ago so we wanted to go back there to get married and decided on the RIU for price and we visited there and thought it was beautiful. I'm sure Mo'Bay is nice too though, its a great chain. Enjoy your planning!

Steel drum band music - Jamaican Brides
frank13 replied to jk1101's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
My FI really wants it too! I think I am going to do it for the ceremony as well. Petals I think its really cute you had "here comes the bride" done in steel drums. -
My OOT bags *pics*
frank13 replied to purrfected's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I just made a list too. your bags are great! My FI wants me to make a stamp of our monogram to put on the bags. does anyone have a suggestion of where to get one that isn't too pricey? -
I saw her new show and thought she seemed a little more grown up than when she was on girls next door. I loved all those girls...Kendra got on my nerves but she cracked me up with her laugh and bad public behavior (flashing people in Vegas while wearing a grill, classic!). Lets just hope for her baby's sake that her show pays her enough to hire someone that won't let her forget he baby in a store or a bar. Maybe it was all for the show anyway...married and now with kid? either way I'll keep watching, I'm also a major sucker for celebrity gossip.

Can pix be retrieved from an old broken phone?
frank13 replied to Jacqueline's topic in Random Thoughts
Honestly I was shocked I got to keep all my stuff! in the past when I have gotten a new phone at best I could retrieve contacts. I just started paying for insurance...my new phone is not the most functioning piece of equipment. -
Another NYC Happy Hour? For the NY, NJ, CT gals?
frank13 replied to sunsetbride1's topic in BDW Get Togethers
I would love to meet up with fellow tri-state brides...and yes I am a little late as well! -
hang in there ORO, I hope everything works out for you guys. If the worst case scenario happened though, just remember that taking your vows at the courthouse won't even come close to taking your vows with your friends and family as witness. I lost my job in October and have been without insurance since...you're right the Obama stimulus helps but not enough!

Can pix be retrieved from an old broken phone?
frank13 replied to Jacqueline's topic in Random Thoughts
i guess it must be different from provider to provider because "the machine" transferred not only my contacts, but my custom ring tones, pics, music and calendar. and I switched phone manufacturers and I still managed to get all my stuff. -
aww I love these! my FI is not super romantic either but I actually was just cleaning out our home office and found some cards from him and then took a break and read this thread. his general theme in cards is that he loves me more everyday...I appreciate anything sweet from him small or big. Yamile, you are a lucky girl, those words are amazing.

Can pix be retrieved from an old broken phone?
frank13 replied to Jacqueline's topic in Random Thoughts
i had a similar situation and although my provider is different (I have verizon) when I purchased my new phone they hooked up my old phone to this machine and transferred everything to my new phone. my old phone was broken as well. if you have time one day I would pop into a retailer and ask about it there. its worth a shot, I know its so awful to lose those pics! -
that cracked me up

Did any Ocho Rios brides use an outside coordinator?
frank13 replied to msmoodyr's topic in Destination Weddings in Jamaica
I had a few people (not on this site) recommend hiring someone else because they said the resort planners in general were sooo busy but I have heard such great things about Chandlyn and I feel like this is her job so I am just going to go with it. save the money for something fun on the honeymoon! -
we are using a TA for all of our arrangements because I was becoming easily flustered trying to arrange and confirm all on my own. I did ask my TA though, that if some of my guests booked their own arrangements would they be able to get a transfer from the airport, or with my group. My TA said that even if people booked their own arrangements, she could still help coordinate a transfer from the airport to ROR if the guests wanted to pay for it that way instead of finding it on their own. So if someone needed a transfer another suggestion besides contacting a local company is to use a TA just for that. Maybe not all travel agents will accommodate but I know some will and its worth looking into.

Did you meet your fiance online?
frank13 replied to nicmicj's topic in Share your Wedding & Engagement Stories!
I think its becoming more and more normal now to meet online...we are all so busy these days its hard to meet people in "real life". My fiancee and I met on match.com and talked on the phone for 2 months before actually meeting...I was skeptical. we had our first date February 16th, 2006 and have been inseparable since. we bought a house in Feb of 07 and in May of 08 while on vacation in Ocho Rios Jamaica he asked me to marry him while we were swimming in the ocean...how was was brave enough to go swimming with my diamond is beyond me. so we are getting married in Ocho Rios next May in the same place he asked me to be his wife. I cant wait. I think its great we all met our other halves online, it totally cuts out the dating horror stories to some degree. -
thank you scott-pierre for the advice I will look there! everyone else, you are so concerned with me offending other brides that you didn't even think that you might have offended me by only posting something negative and not helpful. the reason the cake is important to me (and maybe not as much to others) is that my fiancee is a chef/baker/restaurant owner and he feels strongly about food quality. I am also NOT the only person to criticize the baking skills of the ROR so please don't reprimand me. also, I did use the search function and did not find what I was looking for...I guess I must be stupid and not know how to "search" properly.

I have seen some of the cakes from the weddings at RIU OR and I have to say they look a little sad and cheesy. Does anyone have a good reccomendation for a cake vendor? My Fiancee is a chef and this is a big deal to him (me too). I don't need anything super elaborate, my style can be pretty simple and classic but the cake cannot look like i baked it myself. thanks!
