  1. oh this is a good tip to know. i hadn't even thought of asking for a receipt. i just ordered something from etsy...and it paid through paypal. i wonder how that will work out? i hope i don't have to pay too much duty for it. thanks for sharing.
  2. great review...so detailed. your pics looked great...loved your flowers...and hair! congrats!
  3. all valuable information and reminders as well! next we need someone to make a list of all the things guests shouldn't say to a couple planning a DW...haha
  4. great pics! they look fun...and will be so nice to have as a keepsake.
  5. that is a stunning dress...hardly plain at all. i find with chiffon, empire waist dress they aren't always the most flattering (depending on body type). i had my heart set on one...but it just made me look wide (and i'm not). you really need to try on different styles before you pick something out just from the photos. good luck!
  6. i posted on our wedding website that if guests plan to stay at another resort they will have to pay a $100/pp day pass. so far everyone is staying at the same place. there's no way we could afford to pay that price for everyone.
  7. i had the same problem when i went to my first dress fitting. i didn't think the dress looked good either. but i'm happy to say after the 2nd fitting, the right shoes...i'm back in love with the dress. give it at least one more shot before you sell it! you may surprise yourself.
  8. i like the 1st one better too! looks easier to carry around with the longer rope handle.

  10. originally the ring we picked out (well he did) was about $800, it was pretty generic looking. last week i found these really amazing custom rings on etsy that you can get personalized and i asked him if he'd like that one. at first he was reluctant but then when he saw them, and how i made the effort to find something personal he loved it...and it's going to cost about $300 instead.
  11. i thought the beauty of having a corset dress was so you didn't have to tie it super tight?!! that's what they told me...with the corset dress i bought. i have stomach problems and there's no way i could handle a dress pushing on my stomach all day. they said, just loosen it up as the day goes on.

My suggestion to all of you future brides is DO NOT OVER PLAN. I had no expectations and feel that this is what allowed me to FULLY enjoy our day. Honestly the atmoshpere is beautiful so don't worry about little things....it will all be gorgeous. We had Erick (claudia rodriguez photography) and he was great! He speaks perfect English and had some great ideas for photos......i'm excited to see the results. We also had some photos included in our wedding package from the resort photographer. Juan took some AMAZING photos (180 of them)......we loved them, but only purchased 35 for two reasons. First, I feel confident that Erick will also have captured many of the same moments. Second, the resort photographs are quite expensive. We were charged $15 per picture (they would give 10% off if you purchase more than 50). After our gorgeous wedding ceremony in the Tulum gazebo we did pictures and then met our group at Gran Tortuga for dinner. The food was excellent and I recommend saving room for the last swords.....mmmmmm to die for. At 8pm we went to the lobby bar and danced the night away! The band was great and even intorduced us to everyone and played a "first dance" for us. All of our guests are still raving about the great time we had. It closed down by midnight and then our party moved to the snack bar and we went to our room. Our room was decorated with rose petals, champagne, and chocolates. AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING! I can't believe that it is over, but I will forever remember all of the spectacular moments that we shared. I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone getting married. I will try and attach a photo that the resort photographer took: Congrats! Thanks for sharing your information about your wedding. I haven't really planned much as I just want to go with the flow mostly when I'm there. It's reassuring to know others who have done that and were happy with the results. We're thinking of going to the Tulum lobby bar afterwards for some dancing/drinks as well. The resort pics look good as well! 58 days to go for me...can't wait!
  13. we're having ours 3wks afterwards...but only cuz it's the only place available we could find and afford. it's still fairly formal...but we didn't start out for it to be that way. honestly found that the more unique & simple we wanted to do things...the more the cost seemed to go up. oh well...either way it's coming along nicely. i just wish i knew more about wedding planning before i set dates...haha. no one told me may was so popular! haha i think the idea that was mentioned about having a fun backdrop for photos would be fun. you could also say on your invite something about bringing the mexican vibe back and attire is requested. some may, some may not. good luck!
  14. stunning earrings...but outrageous price! i hope those are a gift!!!
  15. i'll be watching! interested to see how nice ellen will be. there's a few girls i hope do good.
  16. i am also having a peacock feather themed wedding. i didn't even know when i choose that it was so popular. oh well. green, blue, brown, black & purple are my favourite colours. we are not going overboard with the colours/feathers just adding them here & there. peacock feather boutinierres for the guys bridesmaids bouquet is green hydragenas, hand tie, with blue/teal satin ribbon with a feather attached bride bouquet is white hydragenas, white roses and another white flower i forget the name of, with ivory satin ribbon, hand tie, with a peacock feather attached centerpieces are short square vases with green hydragenas, brown satin ribbon around vase with peacock feather attached. i also went with a peacock feather themed formal invitations. i just got them so i will try & post a pic soon. also...anyone in the toronto area looking for peacock feathers...go to chinatown. you can get them for 4 for $1, or 3 for $1 at most places. much cheaper than online, and anywhere i've seen like michael's etc. i was quoted from my florist they would cost $4 for 1. if you need more specific questions on where to find them, let me know.
  17. oh this is a good tip to know. i was wondering what i would do. my only concern is i am so sensitive to everything i always get leary on trying new products.
