  1. april 9th would be the only day i could go. i work on the 2nd... and then we are gone to mexico for our wedding the other dates!
  2. i'm really surprised to hear this happened because it's so far in advance. have you given any thought to contacting another travel agent just to make sure the info you are receiving is accurate? reason i say this, is i've had a situation in the past with one TA trying to push us to book something saying it was sold out and it wasn't, not even close when i contacted another company. just a thought. also, just be honest with your guests what the situation is. they have 7 1/2 months to arrange plans to get their if they really want to go. we didn't end up booking a group rate deal for our resort for several reasons. one because of this type of situations. good luck. things will work out.
  3. wow your photos are stunning. they are all good...any of them enlarged for your house will be amazing!
  4. focus on the positive things... in a month you are going to marry your true love, surrounded by friends & family in a beautiful location no one is going to focus on if you don't have extra decor for the tables, or OOT bags, or if an extra guest is there. keep your budget in mind, spend money on the things you NEED to have, not the things you want. oh...and get a massage, you deserve one.
  5. yeah i just discovered them too. i'd be curious to hear what songs you picked from them to play at your wedding. i am just in the process of trying to decide...so many!
  6. love when people share their playlist... i'm always so curious to see what they choose!
  7. oh this is great! thanks for sharing this...i'm going to use this for sure! saves me from having to write one from scratch.
  8. oh that looks so nice! love how you added the story (first date, engagement etc) of your relationship...so cute!
  9. everything looked great! Congrats! my FI loves cheesecake too...we just picked out our resort cake today...it was one of the few descisions he wanted input on! haha
  10. turned out great. thanks for sharing the template as i was just thinking about how to do one. this helps for sure!

If you are a bit picky and are truly concerned (I know I was! lol), then I recommend doing your own makeup. If you're newer to doing makeup on yourself, or you're nervous about doing your own makeup for your wedding, I would recommend that you drop by your local MAC or Sephora and have them give you a tutorial with the products you plan on using. It can make a world of difference. Good luck! oh i'm glad i read this...cuz i was debating what to do too and i don't wear a lot of makeup. i was thinking of going to my local mac or sephora to see if they can show me what to do and i can attempt it myself. i'm scheduling an appointment next week.
  12. la boom isn't there anymore. coco bongo is fun to see the show...but the place is always really crowded & insane. go on a bar tour if you can. we went to daddy o last time and that was fun, we had seats as well. which helped when you didn't want to dance non stop.
  13. i like favours that are edible... maybe something local made you can eat
  14. i agree with your husband on this one...just go with the flow. that's the beauty of a vacation...no set plans. you have one day planned for your guests - THE WEDDING!! let them do their own thing too...it's their vacation as well. plan things day to day, hour by hour. let your biggest decision each day to be : 'do you go to the beach or pool, do you eat at the buffet or al la carte, do you drink beer or rum?' haha you'll find even if the resort is huge you'll still run into everyone all the time.

It isn't that big of a restaurant, again it really is classy and the salad bar certianly could feed people quite easliy. please have a few for me lol The Gran Tortoga is nice and the food is great... A little older and overused, not as classy... you have gotten the better one... well karla got back to me today and said we can have two menu options to accommodate the guests so i think we're going to go with the other one now mediterrio (sp?) instead. i really like shrimp and FI likes chicken...and she said if one of the guests can't eat either then we can get the chef to make something else up (although there may be an extra cost). now i just have to decide on cake she said...haha. we did already pick out the flowers, only because we are trying to co-ordinate because we got real touch flower bouquets for the bridesmaids and peacock boutinerries for the guys. we got our florist friend to pick out from the catalogue what would work best cuz i have no idea about flowers.
  16. ooh very excited for you both! looks great!
  17. I used one invite for both the destination & AHR. First we sent out STD (6 months in advance) mainly for mexico, but we also put the AHR date on there as well with our wedding website so people knew what we were planning. We sent out the formal invitation 2 weeks ago (about 2 months in advance just because our AHR is 3 weeks after we get back). I don't have the exact wording with me right now but it went something like this... Together with their families... Bride name & Groom name invite you to share in their adventure of a lifetime a seaside wedding ceremony date time location city/country Please join us when we return for our Wedding Reception date time location city/country On our RSVP reply card we gave them meal options and in small print at the bottom said something about this reply card was for the wedding reception only on so & so date So far so good. Any more questions don't hestitate to ask.
  18. oooh lots of beautiful pieces... i think i just found what i want to give my mom as a gift!

The night I went to the Portifino there was 12 of us which was my family and my husbands family. It was two nights before our wedding. I really liked the classy look of the Portifino, most of our group visited it before they left and totally loved it. I had a group of 23 people. Good luck ps don't worry to much I know once you get face to face with your WC things iron out really quickly. They do about 5 to 8 weddings a week, not likely you'll have a request they haven't experienced yet. ok i think i'll choose the portifino...it sounds like even the salad bar has enough to choose from food wise for our guests. thanks again for letting me know. i'm not really worried about plans, karla is the one who sent me an email on friday asking me to give her all the details on which restaurant, how many guests etc. i was looking forward to just deciding when we get there, but she said they need to know this far in advance. FI was really hoping to have it at gran toruga but i guess we'll just eat there another day on the trip.

I am not a sweaty person, but with the heat in mexico in May i am hoping i will not have sweat marks through the satin. Cross your fingers for me ... My MOH promised she'd be on "sweat patrole" and talked me into getting the dress! who cares what year is it...i love that dress! if i had seen that one i would of for sure tried it on!
  21. oh i know exactly how you are feeling. all this wedding stuff is completely new to me so i had never even paid attention to any of this stuff before. i couldn't even believe all the descisions that need to be made...and if your FI is anything like mine...he just says to pick whatever i think is best. my advice to you is to keep photos of the things you like. i saved photos online and kept little galleries on my usb key (i also recommend to back that up cuz i lost mine 2x now in the past 8 months...haha). really look at the things you like and decide why you like them. one of the things that helped me make descisions after this was thinking how i wanted my wedding photos to look in 5yr, 10yrs, 15yrs, 20yrs etc from now. i normally am a very creative, bright coloured type person and i ended up going with more classic, simple, elegant designs for details because i didn't want to look back in 20yrs and say 'oh god what was i thinking?' if you need too...'google' bad, tacky & retro weddings' for some what not to do ideas. haha. another thing to do is just go with your first instinct! don't overanalyze everything. good luck and enjoy the process!
