Not sure how well that would work with an island wedding. I'm thinking about checking out the BCBG outlets for more dresses for me. Dana- you have some time so maybe the dress will go on sale. The BCBG section in Lord and Taylor and the store itself usually run 50-70% off sales. JereseyKitten- You're soooo close to your wedding!! When do you leave?? I hope you have a great wedding and vacation! As of right now I'm strongly vetoing the AHR. FMIL is pushing for it big time but FI and I are having a house built right now and we're paying for our DW so $$ is a bit tight. I mean if she wants to throw us one I won't be opposed but she wants us to do it. I like the idea of a backyard bbq but like I said our house will be brand new and I have major OCD. I cannot handle that many people at our house at one time! I know I'm crazy I just wish FMIL understood my craziness and left me alone about this. The only reason we're having the AHR is because my parents are paying for it - and it's still stressful because we butt heads on things. I like things my way and my mom likes things her way. We leave early thursday morning. i want to leave now!
  2. Congratulations - so great that you could stay for 2 weeks!
  3. I cracked up at this book from the first page, but as a smoking, coffee drinking, Equal/nutrasweet Loving Meat eater...it didn't really help me. the chapter on the slaughterhouses was rough...FI and I are both huge animal lovers...but we both....ahem....got over it.... I have gotten much healthier and thinner...but on my own terms....less of everything...more exercise.....you know, eating less, moving more...old fashioned but works.

I will pack this weekend - I'm only working monday and tuesday next week - Wednesday I will get my mani/pedi done and car service is picking FI and i and both sets of our parents up at the ungodly hour of 3:15 am - our flight is at 7:15 and the airport is an hour and a half away. I just want to go already. I am so ready to do this!
  5. Fantastic Review - congratulations!!! i can't wait to see pictures!

Even with everything I have spent, it's still a fraction of what a wedding here would be. the only thing that is costing about the same is the photographer, but to me it's worth it for good pictures that we will have forever.

We are getting married before even though my FI didn't want to, but the paperwork hassle will be so much less. We got engaged at the Jersey Shore where we meet in September so I was suggested to him that we have our legal day there too. We'll see if he buys into it. We aren't telling anyone b/c people would be disappointed and want to come. I don't live to far far from Freehold is it worth it to go there with my mom? Are all the dresses really expensive. She found a BCBGmaxiara dress she loves but it's really expensive although I have a feeling she is going to land up getting it. Also, my MIL is a bigger women do they have plus size there? I don't think we are going to do an AHR. My parents are pushing for it and I don't think I want to spend the extra money. It doesn't help that we are getting married in Nov. I would have had a BBQ if we were getting married in Spring/Summer. I got engaged at the shore too - our first date and our engagement were at Sandy Hook! Diane & Co did not have larger sizes when I was there with my mom - and the dresses run small - they barely had size 12s - and they were at least $200 +. You might want to try Lord & Taylor though - they have a great dress selection and run a lot of sales. And there's also a BCBG store in Jackson Outlets - I got a great buy on my rehearsal dinner dress there.
  10. First, I don't think anyone would ever think badly of you for having your Grandpa walk you down the aisle. I think it will be obvious how close you are. As for your Stepfather - It depends - you can put "Mother and Husband", "Mother and StepFather" or "Parents" - I think Parents will be easier, look best and not offend your Stepfather, who obviously loves you...whether you were close in the past is not as important as NOW.

(Freehold) with my mom to look for MOB dresses. Anyways I was not looking my best (jeans, t-shirt, NO make-up) normally I really don't care but I learned my lesson today! My mom goes in the dressing room to try on a few dresses and suddenly there's a camera crew in the dress shop!! Turns out the Oxygen Channel is trying to make a reality show with the store called "Jersey Couture". So my mom comes out of the dressing room in a very pretty dress that is a bit sheer so her bright pink underwear is showing through! Not only does she get on camera with the owner talking about her boobs but she starts talking about my ex-bf! I was beyond embarrassed esp. when the camera guy turns to me when I yelled at her to stop. The show is supposed to air sometime this spring so if you want to go "shopping" there you might get on or if you catch it on TV that's me and my mom. My mom and I went to Diane & Co too - I saw the sign outside that they might be filming at any time but they weren't when they were there. That store is amazing - you can't tell how huge it is from the outside! II also sometimes wish we eloped - sometimes the planning gets to me but now that I'm a week out I just can't wait for it to get here and wish it was NOW!!!!! We were originally going to get married here first, but then FI said that if we were making everyone schlep down to Jamaica, they better watch us REALLY get married - since he has let me do EVERYTHING I want with the wedding, I have let him have his occasional request Are any of you guys having an AHR too? My parents are making us a party when we get back at Doolans in Spring Lake, May 22. it was supposed to be just for the people who couldn't make it to the wedding, like my sister, which is a long story, but now they are inviting their friends that i didn't invite to the wedding, because the wedding was for OUR friends...but whatever - will probably be about 40 people. .

I thought it was such a fantastic idea and really is so simple, but I would never have thought to do it! Anyways, just wanted to add that in for today Awesome idea! I need to get to a store. I hardly ever even print pictures anymore but I will definitely do this!
  15. Sigh....if I wasn't so far over my budget I would have a dj too.

It will be a let down after spending 24/7 on this board. I saw on your links that you are dieting, thats prob the hair problem. I lost 35 lbs once and i had bald spots. MAKE SURE you eat enough protein and dont starve. Thats what did it to me. Jenine is a lucky girl to have a mom like you planning everything!!! My BFF also lost hair due to weight loss - Have you tried Biotin to get it back? It's helped her a lot. Quote: Originally Posted by amberm410 What a great mom! I wish my mom was like you. Personally I felt 11am was early due to getting ready and such and wanted to do more of an evening dinner so I chose the 3pm time slot. I feel like it will probably be really hot at both times (mid 80's). I just checked weather.com and currently at this moment which is close to 11am there it is 80degrees. I spoke to other brides who were only given a choice of 11am so this could be what happened with her. The wedding will be beautiful either way but if you have a lot of guests I think the fans are an excellent idea. I should look for some of those. I'm getting married April 10 as well Quote: Originally Posted by roo66 Is there any way you can push the time back? imarried in Jamaica at 2.00 many years ago and after cutting the cake pictures etc it was just another day down on the beach.I think if you could push the time back you could do a girly breakfast or group breakfast lie in the sun for a while and the day would flow.I didnt even wear my dress in the evening. What was i thinking !!!!!!!!! This time im going for 4.00/4.30 lol My ceremony is at 4pm (in Jamaica) I would have preferred a little later, even, but as Matt said, it's going to be hot anyway. But like the other girls were saying, she's going to spend all that time getting ready to look beautiful for her ceremony, then get undressed and put on a bathing suit and sweat at the pool, then get redressed for dinner? But if you're not planning a big reception with her wearing her dress then it's not a big deal. most important thing is that your daughter is going to have a beautiful wedding in a beautiful place, no matter what time - everything else will work itself out.
  17. I know my sister added straps to her strapless gown and she felt so much better in her dress. Your dress is very cute and I think with the right straps it will be great- just find a good seamstress to add them.

Hope everyone is still getting some sleep at night.....dreamt that I forgot my wedding band last night but that might have to do with the fact that I haven't received mine yet?? Suzyq76 - the mugs I bought off of you turned out perfectly, good enough for a weeks use anyways! Will hopefully post pics of everything later if I figure out how. Have a wonderful and productive Easter weekend ladies! Last night I dreamt that i couldn't find FI's passport/copy of his birth certificate - and even though I know i have it, I can't wait to get home and double check it!
  19. Ahhhhh Meghan - everything looks fantastic!!!! Dress looks awesome! I swear everytime I see someone's things i think I want to add more stuff - good thing I already handed half my bags out! I can't believe the first of our brides is on her way - 2 legal days already - so exciting! Last night I actually went back to the beginning of this thread, which started in June - we have come so far together - I am so glad I started this!

I tried to get a free tshirt and bag with each order BUT I spent a lot in shipping so in the end, it might have been better to order a few at the discounted price. All the girls on here have such amazing OOT bags - you just have to figure out what you want to put in yours and also know when to stop!
  21. Some girls get paint brushes in a bucket for people to brush their feet off after the beach. I know i've seen pictures of it on here. I'm in the "I can't worry about them" group. When you're at a beach resort - there's a lot of sand around. It's unavoidable. people will figure out how to get the sand off of their feet. I got my dress ordered with me barefoot - my heels are only about an inch high. If you get your dress ordered with a 2-3 inch heel, it's going to drag in flats/barefoot so you have to be careful.

  23. NYBeachBride - Congratulations on your legal day! Definitely play those numbers! Natasha - those shoes are awesome - I'm not sure I could walk in them for long, but they are hot! the necklace is pretty - you should definitely keep it - but i think your dress is so outstanding on it's own it might take away. It's hard with a strapless dress. Jenna - AMAZING JOB on all your stuff! I love seeing what everyone else has done - it just makes me want to buy more things....I really need to control myself! And when are you leaving? Today? Tomorrow? I was in traffic court for 4 hours last night from my accident 2 months ago - long story short - points on my license and $240 bucks - SIGH - and I have to take a defensive driving class to bring my points down.
