I have my dress! Now shoes?
~Jessica~ replied to DarcyJAde's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
I agree with Jess you may have a problem with you dress being to short for heels since it was hemmed for ballet flats. How about getting some really cute and sexy heels for the rehearsal dinner or welcome dinner?? Or if you are doing TTD maybe incorporate heels somehow?? -

If you want mojito's as your theme drink then you should have mojitos as your theme drink! Maybe they can mix the mojito's up ahead of time?? I would say just be happy and if mojitos will make you happy then you should have them!

My awesome cake topper

"Tacky" Bridesmaid Dress (theme) for Stagette!!
~Jessica~ replied to emme's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
It looks like you guys had so much fun! I love the idea and the dresses rocked it! -
I think if you love photography that much there is no way you should not do a TTD shoot! I agree with the other girls, don't trash your original dress, just do some research and find a very similar cheap dress to trash. I found mine off dillards, so be sure to look at all options and it is a pretty darn close match to the style of my original. Good luck!

Yay! We get 2 checked bags and 1 carry on.
~Jessica~ replied to DarcyJAde's topic in Honeymoon Forum
that is awesome to know since we are flyng American too! That means I can bring 4 bags just between us and if I make the rest of my family fly american, I can bring more! And great analogy DonieJordan, it is like finding money in your jeans! -
Ohh wow you really did pick two lovely dresses to choose between. I would vote for number one for not only the way it looks on you but also because of the simple elegance the dress has. But yet again I am not a very bead loving person of wedding dresses. Both dresses look absolutely fantastic though, but I still vote #1.

Sarah your pictures are amazing! You were such a beautiful bride!! Seeing such beautiful pictures sets the mind at ease that is for sure!! I can't wait for May to get here! Bethany, we have tons of info on this thread so make sure you check out some past posts and you will get a great idea of the resort and what areas are the best for you. But in the mean time here is my take: 1. Between the Gazebo and the beach from my understanding they are both really nice, it is just whether you want to get married on the beach or not. Alot of people opt for the gazebo since they will be wearing heels, which would making walking on the beach hard. 2. Rebeca is really busy and has to deal with multiple weddings and multiple brides and emails a day. So don't stress she will get back to you, but sometimes it takes a couple of days. There is only one of her and tons of us. If you have any questions that could be answered by past brides or brides who are planning feel free to ask us here on the forum. The girls on here are a wealth of knowledge and experience. 3. According to WeatherUnderground the average temp for your wedding on April 17 is around 80, so I don't think you need to have an inside reception, especially if it is at night when the avg low is 68. I am getting married a month after you and having my reception outside, but it really comes down to personal preference. 4. Again search the dinner option here on this thread. Lauren has a great review of her wedding including the meals. Merve just posted a great review from his recon trip to the resort. With just some more research you should have a better idea of what you want to do.

~Jessica~ replied to DarcyJAde's topic in Honeymoon Forum
Congrats Darcy! How did you snag that amazing deal?? On our last vacation we split one big bag so all we had to pay was $15 and I told my FI for the wedding there is no way he would be getting off that easy! -

I know exactly what you're feeling trust me. It's all good for us right now we are both in medical school (I don't want to sign up for the military, I want to do pediatrics so unless they have a child army then it won't work out lol). It is going to be tricky once he is finished his training (ie med school and residency) he will owe them 4 years of service, we don't know where he will be posted and he will most likely by deployed to Afghanistan if we're still there. It is going to be tough, but my mom did this program too - and there are a lot of really good opportunities (ie travelling - my mom was a doc in the military and our whole family lived in Germany for 4 years which was pretty cool!). I think he should really think about what career path he wants to take, but just know that for the next 6 years at least he won't be going anywhere (unless their program is vastly different than ours which I doubt). But I just wanted to say hi and let you know that it's not selfish, I am worried about this stuff too, but I think we can work with it - it's not necessarily a full career commitment, if he doesn't like it after 4 years of service he can get out. Good luck to you both, so glad I don't have to go through the application process again (at least until residency) it is a stressful time! That is so funny you went through the same thing! Such a small small world! . Thank you for such great feedback. I was just feeling so selfish and it is good to know that I am not alone and I am not really being selfish. We sat down last night and had a big talk about it and as of right now he is leaning towards not doing it. I just don't think he wants to go back in and possibly deploy again (he has already served two tours in Iraq before getting out). I just think it would not be good for him mentally to go back. So as of right now we are looking to incure all the normal debt of going to med school, but it will be so worth it to not have him go back in, in my eyes. And I feel you on the stress of the application process. I am feeling the stress so I can't imagine how he is feeling. He is trying to get everything set into motion all while working on the weekends. But next semester he is going to take a Kaplan course on the weekends so he won't be working, he will just be studying for the MCAT and going to school. And then taking the MCAT in April, getting married in May, sending out first round apps in May. Then spending the rest of June sending secondary apps. Then waiting for interviews for the fall!!!!!!!! Ahhhhhhhhh I am going to be sooo glad when it is over and we know where we are going.

Sarah you have to download your pic to Photobucket, then take the URL code they give you and post in in your message. Then your photo should post! Merve thank you SO MUCH!! For the awesome recon mission information! I am super jealous u both got to go on a recon. We are just going on blind faith but the information from all the girls on here and you have settled any nerves I may have. We are getting married on Oceana Beach too, so I am glad to hear it is awesome and we are having our reception on Las Palmas. Is Oceana very private, like Karen said no one wants the 300lb man in the speedo in the background of all the wedding photos ? Raul thanks for the feedback. I knew choosing to not have the photographer that Dreams provides will not lower my price. I am flying in my photog so I just wanted to make sure he will not be bothered by the other photog. But I still plan on using the Dreams videographer.

Even the SWEDISH message, both my husband and I fell asleep!! The Spa can be a little hard to figure out, because they are a small operation. THEY WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU!! No need to book ur wedding spa pkgs 2 months. I did mine the week before we got there and just stopped in to confirm when we arrived. Rebecca IS THA BOMB!! She always does whatever you need with a smile! Actually, Heck...everyone is AWSOME their. Look for tall Victor, the drink guy, he will treat you sooooo good. I even picked my bouguet 2 DAYS before the ceremony, and it was FINE!! Rebecca has ALL the Puerto Vallarta contacts you good ask for. Now that mine is all set and done, I think the Spa just gets annoyed by Brides that seem so worried, when they will go above and beyond for whatever your need. I had my hair and makeup done the day of, and it was FAB!! The only outside things I brought were my chair colored saches and some sea shell stuff for the tables. But for a cost Rebecca will get all that there for you! Just be for-warned that the only probebly was you get a free video/photog from the resort with that pkg./ but we had hired outside help to cover more of the day, as Dreams had a limit to what they photographed. Now BOTH were AMAZING, but the Dreams crew got in the way a little of our actual hired photog/Video guy. Also keep in mind the DJ should defently have a song list, he is kinda dated! Hahah But nice all the same. YouTube - Dreams Puerto Vallarta Sarah & James Wedding Sarah thank you so much for such great feedback!! That is really good to know about the free honeymoon package. My TA hasn't gotten back to me yet with her answer. And really good to know about the spa. I just know there can be more than one wedding going on for your day so I didn't know if they would have competing reservations. I guess I could always ask Rebeca if anyone else is getting married that day. Also when you are talking about the pv photographer/videographer we can vote to not have them correct? I am having a private photographer like you did, but I don't really want another photog stepping on his toes. No worries if you don't know! Thanks again for all the great info!!

Hi ladies, my FI is former military but could possibly be going back in. We met through mutual friends while FI still had about 1 year left in the service, we started talking on the phone and over the internet since he was stationed in Savannah, Ga. So on a whim I decided I couldn't wait till my best friends wedding to meet him and spent an ungodly amount of $$ to buy a last minute ticket down to Savannah to see him two weeks before he would be up in chicago. And it was worth every penny, I finally got to kiss the man I had been falling in love with over the phone. So then I spent every two weeks flying down to Savannah to see him and tiem spent with him was never enough. He was supposed to get out in Feb. 07 but they had a stoploss at the beginning of the month and it looked like he was going to be stuck there and redeployed in Aug 07. Which caused my world into a whirlwind, bc either way one of us was going to move and it was looking more and more like me. By some miracle the general decided he didn't need all the aviation guys and let a group of 5 of them get out, luckily one of them was my FI. He says he thinks his old platoon sgt., who had moved up the ranks and was a good friend had something to do with him getting out and I will thank that man for the rest of my life. My FI moved up to Chicago the next week and has been here ever since. But he is now going back to school and will be applying to medical school in the spring. And one of the medical schools he is looking at is the Armed Services one and also looking at the option of going where he wants but joining the Air Force to get school paid for. Which I am so proud of him to have served his country and to want to do it again, but part of me wants him not to, I want him here and to never be deployed. Am I being to selfish?

I was thinking of doing that but I don't want my dress to drag in the sand too much for the ceremony and I also don't want it to look too short if I put on shoes. I am only wearing one-two inch heels for that exact reason and getting my dress hemmed to that length. I just didn't want to trip over the extra fabric of my dress being barefoot on the beach if I had it hemmed to 3" heel. And at most weddings I have been too the brides only wear the really awesome 3" heels for maybe an hour and then they change into flipflops so I say go comfy!

PVR Restaurants with a view
~Jessica~ replied to Sandy's topic in Destination Weddings in Puerto Vallarta & surrounding areas
Sandy if you do a search in the PV forum there are lots of reviews and information on the restaurants you mentioned above, plus many more. It just takes some searching! -
Jess thanks for the great recommendation about the nail salon and for the prices. I think Dreams is out of their mind for the spa pricing, but hey I guess they get you while you are on vacation. Autumn, I haven't talked to Rebeca about the honeymoon package, but let us know if you find anything out. I just looked it up on the website and to get the regular (i.e. free) honeymoon package, it says you have to request it when you book. But what if you are getting married there then staying for your honeymoon?? Do they know to just give it to you, you think? I will send my TA an email and get her thoughts on it. Lauren thanks for the heads up on the massages. I don't even know if we will use our coupons, it may just be all for me. My FI is a massage therapist while going back to school and he very rarely can stand getting massaged by someone else. But hey I sure as heck can!
