  1. Has anyone visited this resort since the renovations? Does anyone know what the rooms ar elike? I'm curious as to how the rooms are layed out. My family (mom, dad, younger sister & my daughter) will all need to stay in one room. Does this resort have a separate bedroom area? Sofabeds? Thanks in advance!
  2. Ok great. That's good to know. And $80 for a day pass is not bad at all. Thanks!
  3. I apologize if this has already been discussed here, but does anyone know what the RIU's photographer policies are? I am planning to book my wedding at the Riu Palace Tropical Bay but am unclear on whether or not I can bring in an outside photographer or another local photographer. I thought I'd ask you ladies first. TIA!
  4. I have heard good things about Saab Weddings (and I personally LOVE their photos/style the best), Stacey Clarke, and Misha Earle. Stacey Clarke & Misha Earle seem to be a little more economically priced than Saab, but compared to the photographer I was looking at in the states it is still very reasonable.
  5. Welcome to BDW. Happy Planning! I am considering RIU Tropical Bay so I can share some of the excitement with you!
  6. Does anyone know the name of the photographer at RIU Tropical Bay?
  7. I am so relieved to hear such great things about this resort, as I am 98% sure it is where we will have our destination wedding. I can't wait to see the pictures!
  8. I am leaning towards RIU Palace Tropical Bay only because I wanted to stay in Negril. I hear Negril has better beaches than the other side of the island (Ocho Rios) and since I've heard about the upgrades and renovations to this particular hotel I figured it would be semi-new again. I also second tripadvisor for some great information, but I also caution against it too. You can really drive yourself crazy stalking reviews of hotels and letting some of the negative experiences cloud your judgment. Just remember, every one has different opinions!
  9. Hmm...those prices seem WAY high compared to the quotes I just received from my travel agent. I would do some more asking around if I were you. The prices I received for basic level (garden view) room, 5 nights, all-inclusive w/o airfare was around $900pp, 3 nights was around $575pp. Airfare will probably be around $300 RT. Most of our guests will only stay 3 nights, so that puts them right around $800 for their trip.
  10. Thanks for the welcome and the tips! I'm still trying to figure out how to use this site so thanks for the suggestions. I think I am leaning more towards Jamaica because it seems to have more affordable options than Barbados, but I really love Barbados. We'll see!
  11. Omg...I'm glad everything worked out for you. Hopefully you guys didn't lose out on too much money. Anyway, congrats to you:-) Happy planning.

  13. My name is Tamisha and my fiance and I are planning a destination wedding for June of 2010. Right now we are stuck trying to decide on a location. We're looking at Jamaica and Barbados. Talk to you all soon!
