  1. Have you thought of buying the regular flip flop or not-so-flashy sandal in a style you like and then embellishing them? I had the same problem finding shoes and I finally decided to go DIY with it. I got some ribbon and found some fabulous sequin trim at Hobby Lobby for a total cost of $15 (shoes included)!

I also saw the set up for a romantic dinner in the new beach gazebo which is situated next to the beach over close to the Royal Service beach. It has these blinds you can pull down on the sides to give it some privacy from the people on the beach. Oh, how nice! We may have to do that as the celebration dinner after our wedding. Thanks for the info!!
  3. OMG!!! Amazing planning thread! Everything looks beautiful. Can't wait to see the wedding photos - Congrats on your marriage!
  4. I'm impressed you got your FI to agree to pink!! Mine would freak out if I even mentioned pink. They turned out beautifully and I love the wording - great job!
  5. We're doing the same thing, private ceremony, big AHR 2 weeks after we get home. I really didn't have the time for a save the date, but I think save the dates are only "required" if you're inviting people to the DW (it allows to have more notice to plan, save money, etc. to take a trip rather than simply drive to an event somewhere locally). I sent a "save the date" email to the guests we'd be inviting from out of state, but everyone else is only getting the formal invitation. Here's my timeline: Mail invites: May 15 RSVP deadline: July 1 Wedding in DR: July 8 AHR: August 1 Here's the wording I used on our invite: Your Name and His Name Are pleased to announce we will be married in a private ceremony Wednesday, the eighth of July 2009 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. We invite you to join us for a wedding celebration when we return as husband and wife. Saturday, August 1, 2009 Seven o’clock in the evening Event Location Street Address City, State/Province RSVP by July 1, 2009 to: email address Visit wedding website for more information. Hope that all helps! Good luck!!
  6. My FI loved Key West when he was there. He has some amazing photos on the beach. St. Petersburg (across the bridge from Tampa) has some gorgeous beaches too. I've stayed at the Sheraton Sand Key twice now for corporate events and can attest to the amazing event staff and quality of the food. A girl I work with got married there and absolutely loved her wedding. It was small, but beautiful and they had a big bonfire-style reception (catered by the hotel). Good luck!

The Dreams resort looks soooooo beautiful! I seriously considered it, but when we began our planning it was still barely open and they weren't booking weddings yet. Can't wait to hear how it goes!
  8. Welcome! I'll cross my fingers for you for "sooner" on the ring. ;-)

  14. Thanks for the review!! Makes me even more excited about our wedding there in two months! Did you happen to see a beach wedding while you were there? That's what we're doing and I was just wondering how it goes. Congrats!!
  15. So I heard the legal problems have been resolved and it will be on Lifetime now ... anyone heard when it will premier? I need to set my DVR!!! LOL!

Thanks again Try this thread: http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t39657. I didn't look through the whole thing for pic, but I be the ladies would share if they haven't already. Congrats to you and good luck!
  17. My dad had these - twice! Once on each foot. He tried all sorts of shoes and had the same dilemma in that he couldn't wear orthopedic style sandals (about 10 years ago) all the time. He ended up having the surgery both times. It was the only way he could get rid of them rather than just managing the pain. I hope you can find another way to deal with them though! Good luck!
  18. Very original idea and they turned out beautifully! Great job to you and Jessica. :-)
  19. Depending on what you're looking for, several of the resorts offer a free symbolic wedding if you and/or your guests stay for a certain number of days. We're at Melia Caribe and our wedding is free for the most part. We're paying for the photographer and beach location and that's it. If you want a legal or Catholic ceremony that costs quite a bit extra, but that's pretty standard at all of the resorts. Good luck to you and check out the DR forum for lots of great info on the resorts and wedding packages.

I was all into this invite making but now I'm busy with a new job and life! lol Here's a pic of mine. These are DIY for the most part. I ordered both kinds of paper from paperandmore.com and had them cut the aqua cardstock to 5x7 for me (it was only $5 for them to do it). Then I designed the top piece myself in graphic design software and took that to a local quick printer to be output on a color copier and trimmed to size ($28 dollars for 50 copies trimmed to 100 pieces). Then my FI and I put spray mount on the back of the vellum piece and attached it to the cardstock. All 100 invites were assembled and ready to go in about 45 minutes. Obviously since I designed it myself I don't have a template, but if you like the layout I can probably put one together for you pretty quickly if you'll tell me what software you can use.
