  1. ShellB, I've heard taxis can be expensive so I wondered what method of transportation you used from the airport to the resort and back? Thanks!
  2. Congratulations! Enjoy your planning!
  3. We just opened up joint checking and savings a couple of months ago to save up for the wedding. We're maintaining our separate accounts until we get married only because it'll be easier for me to change my name and switch accounts (i.e. direct deposit, automatic withdrawls, etc.) all at once.
  4. We're using our ceremony date also - it's about a month after the legal date.

I also found this incredible chile cilantro sauce that has .5 grams of fat and use that for fajitas. Just cook chicken, peppers, and onions, and leave out the tortilla and serve it on a plate with some low fat cheese on top and light sour cream. Like I said, I kinda diet. I eat yummy things, but make substitutions to make them healthier. It seems to be working so far. Mmmmmm ... balsamic vinegar. That sounds very interesting! I can't use onions though my FI HATES them, but peppers are always good. I'll definitely try that, it sounds yummy!!

I hadn't really heard that, but we booked a Royal Service room that gives you access to a private lounge, Gabi Club with private restaurant, snack bar and pool, and a private beach. I don't think kids are 'not allowed' or anything, but it certainly doesn't seem like these areas are family-oriented, and come at a higher cost than other rooms so I doubt many parents spring for it.
  7. Hi Ladies!! I'm a WW lifetime member and would be happy to help you out and support you any way I can. I lost 30lbs in about 4 months and then another 10 over the next year just doing maintenance. I've kept it off for 4 years now. I don't go to meetings anymore, but I still weigh myself once a week at home just to keep and eye on the pound-age. Tata - 6 months is a long time so don't panic. Like estella1007 said, you have some extra time on your hands to excercise (if you can't spring for a gym membership, just head outside for a long walk every day). You can also dedicate some time to finding recipes and planning healthy meals. ;-) Jessica - by all means, girl, have the hamburger! Just make it yourself with extra lean ground beef, a whole wheat bun, lowfat cheese and NO mayo (if you're the mayo on a burger type). The trick is to satisfy the craving with a healthier, lower fat/calorie option. I can't live a day without chocolate so I've learned lots of ways around the cravings. Stick with the program ladies - it really does work!
  8. Everything looks wonderful!!! Congratulations and have a wonderful wedding and honeymoon!
  9. I'm crossing my fingers for you that the trick is wrong this time and you passed. Hang in there ...
  10. Congrats and welcome to the forum! You'll find TONS of great ideas here.
  11. I'm sooooo sorry this happened to you! What a nightmare! I've been so envious of all the women brave enough to do a BD shoot as a gift for your FIs and DHs. I'm horribly bashful in lingerie and don't think I could muster up the courage to even do the shoot. It's great that your photographer is being so understanding and helpful, but I know that certainly isn't your only concern. I hope the missing package appears at your door or your photographer's studio and you'll be able to rest easy. I'll cross my fingers for you!!!
  12. I love it - very appropriate and how can you beat a price like that

I like the idea of having a video camera while you are finishing getting ready and then walking to the ceremony spot...or even having it catch the cute moments while you are getting your pictures taken. Having a video is a must, in my opinion. Wouldn't that be nice! He offered to send his own camcorder and tripod with us so my FI could set it all up before our ceremony, but neither of us want him to be worried about electronics setup and any difficulties right before we get married. I talked to my FI about it last night and we'll probably break down and pay for it, but I might be bitter about it for a few hours following the initial "okay let's just do it" decision. I just really prefer photography and would rather spend more money on that if I'm going to spend more money ... hmmm maybe I'll talk to the FI and photographer about that.
  14. Hi ladies!! I finally finished up our AHR invites last night and put them in today's mail!! Yay! This was the first DIY project I started (there have been many more you'll see in a planning thread at some point) for our wedding/AHR. I got the paper and envelopes at Card Stock, Vellum Paper, Envelopes, Metallic Cardstock, Invitation Cards Specialty Wedding Stationery - Paperandmore.com. They trimmed the aqua paper for me for $5 and after I finalized the design of the vellum piece I had those color copied and trimmed at a local quick printer for $25 (100 total pieces after trimming). I printed the envelopes at home and did the wax seals with glue gun wax and a metal seal. Here are the results!
  15. We have sort of the same problem - a too small, but full house that we won't be moving from for a year or more. We didn't register for much, but what we did was register for a few things online at myregistry.com so you aren't limited to a single store. We picked out a few replacement items (teakettle, towels and washcloths, sheets, baking pans, etc.) and then a few items we still need that won't take up too much room (like a small steam cleaner, BBQ grill utensils, universal remote...). Also, remind your FI that he can add things like video game accessories, tools, camping gear, whatever he's into which might get him a little bit excited about it too. We also put some Home Depot gift cards on there to put toward a new lawn mower. Try not to stress about it and have a good time!
  16. We were going to do the legal ceremony in DR too, but changed our minds a few weeks ago. Between the document translation and fees for the judge, marriage license, etc. it was going to cost us nearly $1000 to be legally married there. So we're getting married at home about a month before we go for $60 total. The only difference between the two ceremonies is that one is legally binding and the other is not. And as Josh mentioned, you have much more ability to customize your ceremony (vows, etc.) if you don't choose symbolic vs. civil. I understand why you'd want to have the legal ceremony there, but your guests won't know the difference if you don't tell them (the ladies on here say the coordinators and ministers are very good at making it appear to be the "real thing) if that's what you decide to do. Good luck!
