  1. Hey Ladies, Ivan shot our wedding on Feb 20th in Isla Mujures. We are so glad we used him. He did such an amazing job and wasn't opposed to hearing any ideas that we had. He was also good at giving us direction as we had no idea how to pose for these kinds of pics. Please feel free to message me if you have any other questions. 3. I felt weird asking my bridesmaids to pay for their dresses especially since they are coming all this way (its a cultural thing)- I have 5 bridesmaids coming from Ghana, England and LA, so I paid for them. I gave them a choice of 9 Bari Jay dresses in white and asked each of them to choose the one they wanted - they all picked the same one lol. This way it doubles up as a gift as well that they will hopefully wear later. Here's the dress - its the long one in all white http://barijay.com/dress/popuppics/365-366bg.jpg
  4. We are having an all white wedding as well. We included a separate card with the invitation that had RSVP information and below Dress Code we wrote: Please join us in wearing white to celebrate our day. So far we haven't had any complaints, well at least not our face.
  5. My understanding is that when you book the rooms through them you get 1 free room for every 20 you book. I feel like thats the only difference.
  6. I'm thinking of ordering P-002. All are guests are wearing white. Anyone is the LA area interested in ordering w/ me? I don't have a confirmed guest count yet but should know for sure by the 1st week on December. I would probably be ordering around 30.
  7. hey ladies, have u made any plans as far as rehearsal dinners or activities to do during the day? If so, i would love to hear any ideas that you have. Here's what i'm thinking: Planning - Sat & Sun Scuba Diving - Mon Tulum/Xel-ha - Tues Rehearsal dinner at Sunset Grill - Weds night Spend the day at El Garrafon Marine Park - Thurs Bachelorette party tbd - Thurs night Relax - friday Get married!! - Sat Have you found any good deals on activities?
  8. Yah, i definitely want to have welcome bags. what i'm going to put in them is still a mistery to me. i'm still trying to figure out how i would get 50-80 towels to Isla. i'm holding off on my bags till probably the beginning of december when i should have a better idea of how many people to expect. what are you thinking?
  9. Hey Kathleen, Gosh so sorry to hear about your house, that's horrible. Don't panic, you have 4 months, a lot can be accomplished in that time. The hotel takes care of most things so that should help w some of the stress. If you think about it, compared to other hotels your rates are still good. For your at home reception, I would suggest possibly a line on your rsvp card which gives them the option to rsvp for the at home reception. Hope this helps.

What time of year are you going? Those were the original quotes that they gave. They had a special before, maybe its not running any more.
  12. I was just reading reviews about the hotel, some guests stated that there are people w/ boom boxes on the beach on saturday and sunday. That would really suck if there was loud music playing during our ceremonies.
  13. Do any of you have pics of the terrace that you can post or email me?
  14. I sent the pic of the bamboo canopy thing to Elba - she was going to show it to the florist and get back to me. Hmm, do you think they can do the whole setup on the terrace then? i don't like the idea of the dance floor being in a separate location. its kinda hard making these decisions when you haven't been there. Do any of you plan on visiting prior to the wedding? I'm definitely having a dj - just cos i'm lazy to put together an ipod playlist and it would be nice to have a professional do the announcements. Elba quoted me $250 as well for 2 hours which seems very cheap compared to others - i wonder what kind of music he/she plays. If we have our reception at Sabor I think it has to end at 1030 - which kinda sucks. Are you guys planning on having your receptions later? If so, what's your plan?
  15. I'm not sure what to do cos I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings... My parent's are divorced - father is paying for the wedding well 90% of it. My FIs parent's are contributing 10% to go towards our rehearsal dinner. Do i say "together with their parents" OR Just list my father? or say Mr and Mrs Anderson (my mother still has the same last name and so does my father's wife) I feel weird listing FIs parents since my dad is paying for the majority and they didn't really want to contribute in the 1st place - I overheard them saying the parents of the bride normally pay. But then again they are contributing something even if its not much. HELP!!
  16. Hey Kathleen, Elba's email address is [email protected]. Tina, Yes! Please send me the menus - [email protected]. Thanks! Rachel, that's really cool about the flowers - where are you getting them from, if you don't mind me asking? I love how accommodating they are - it's such a relief to finally find a place where they respond on time and are happy to do anything for you.
  17. Wow! you guys looked amazing together! i'm a black, white and fuschia bride as well. i was a bit worried about the flower situation, but you flowers looked amazing - i will definitely use gerber daisies. thanks for sharing.
  18. Rae: I'll definitely keep you posted with pics. I'm not a fan of the arch either - its too bushy for my taste. I was thinking about doing something like this: http://yvonnedesign.typepad.com/.a/6...1030d07970c-pi I thought the cake in the pics was not bad at all. Although i don't plan on paying extra for the cake since it seems other brides have said it was a waste cos people we full from dinner and drinks so didn't end up eating the cake. I'm just having the cake for 20 people even though i'm expecting 50-80 lol. Enough rambling... the only bakery i know of is in Akumal - not sure if they deliver to Isla Wedding and Special Occation Cakes Seems like everyone who goes there loves it! Tina: Have you received any info on the flowers? Are you getting a dj?
