I work for an external vendor company and am contracted to work at a large corporate company. There are several other external companies that work here as well. Everyone in my role was just notified the other day that starting next year only one company will be allowed to carry my role. We were told that if we would like to keep our job next year we can choose to sub-contract through the chosen company, but will have to take a pay cut with no paid time off (vacation, PT, or holidays).
So I was pretty upset about this. Yes, I would still have a job, but I'm not sure I can afford this option and might have to look for something else.
So yesterday a co-worker of mine came over to our area and starts talking to another co-worker. They are both different roles, so they're not being affected by this. I'm hoping she didn't know I was sitting on the other side of our cube, rather than that she just didn't care. She starts saying that she was just in a meeting and there were two girls in there complaining about the situation we're being put in and saying well they didn't lose their job, I don't know why they're making such a big deal about this. This really bothered me. Yeah, I know I can't complain too much because I do still have a job and I know others out there have it much worse right now. I just though that was really insensitive to say that.
Anyway, thanks for listening, I just needed to vent about that.
