I have had a reaction similar to yours, just mine was on the backs of my legs & it went away overnight. My sister, however, had some itchy bumps that she got on her arms that she thought might have been sun poisoning (I didn't know that was possible in a bed.) I think mine was some sort of a reaction to the cleaner they use. I don't know why sometimes it happens & sometimes it doesn't (maybe it's all in how well they wipe it off.) Anyhow, I'm glad it's getting better!

Wedding in 5 months, only 5 booked so far!!!???
Married_In_Maui replied to michelle6114's topic in Just venting or funnies
We first brought up the idea to have a DW at our family christmas & all 40 people there were so excited & said "Oh heck yeah, we'll be there." We leave a week from Sunday & are taking 12 people. So, I think it's very common for people to say that they will go, then don't end up booking for whatever reason. Oh well, the most important people will be there (being you 2 & your parents.) Try not to stress, you still have 5 months, most likely more people will book. -

Beach Palace, Cancun Mexico wedding review
Married_In_Maui replied to lauraandmatt's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
I second that; pics please Congratulations, it sounds like you had a great wedding. We looked at the Beach Palace in the early stagas of planning, but choose the Casa Magna only b/c it had more beach (but then we had to start all over b/c our trip got cancelled b/c of the swine flu.) Anyway, I know the Beach Palace is beautiful & I can't wait to see your pics!!!! -
Yes, in July it will be very muggy, but you'll have a blast anyway. We go every year in October; it's so pretty with the leaves changing & plus our 5 year old son loves all the touristy stuff to do (it's his favorite vaca, which is why we keep returning.) One thing you must do is go to the National Park, it's beautiful. Other than that I can't recommend anything, as I don't know what you enjoy. We love to play miniature golf & there are tons of courses to choose from. Hope you have fun!!!

Congratulations!!!! That is such a huge accomplishment; you should be soooo proud or yourself!!!!

A diamond is a girl's best friend, so get a big friend LOL. Does this make me shallow that I would go for the big ring?? Oh heck who cares, go big girl!

I think the rainforest cafe is so fun for kids; I have a 5 year old & he loves it & I'm sure your nephew would love it too. I'm not sure what kind of a vibe you're going for, but if your looking for a quiet dinner, this probably wouldn't be the place b/c of the animal noises & the rain showers, but if you're looking for a fun environment, this would be great. I love Vegas, we have been every year since we have been together (6 years now) & I know you will find a great place to have your rehearsal dinner (there are soooooo many fantastic places to eat in vegas.) Ok, I'm such a dingbat that I didn't even look at the date of your original post, so I see you've already had your site visit. I hope you found a great place, but maybe someone else can use this advice

Does anyone else think Apple Vacations is a joke?
Married_In_Maui replied to Married_In_Maui's topic in Honeymoon Forum
I'm glad somone had a good experience with them. I just wasn't happy with their customer service. They wanted to charge us $250 per person to change our plans from Mexico to Maui (which I understand is their policy, but at the same time, none of us could have ever imagined that there would suddenly be an outbreak of swine flu.) So, I guess we are to blame for not purchasing the insurance, but I would have expected them to be a bit more helpful under the cirumstances. After a week, they finally decided to let us switch to Maui, but I later found out it was only b/c they had cancelled their charter flights to Mexico for May. Oh well!! I'm just glad someone had a good experience!! Again, sorry to rant, I just needed to vent! -
I wrote a terribly long rant about how much I dislike this company, then I decided against bad mouthing anyone & deleted it (my conscious got the best of me.) So, I won't say anything more than that I will not use this company again. I guess I'm just afraid of bad karma 2 weeks before the wedding

Have you exercised today?
Married_In_Maui replied to destinationbride07's topic in Beauty, Exercise, Diet
Ladies I got a hilarious email from a bridesmaid. At this point, with the wedding 2 weeks away it's crunchtime, so I can definately find some humor in this. Sorry it's so long, but it's worth reading to have a good laugh So here it is: A WOMAN'S WEEK AT THE GYM If you read this without laughing out loud, there is something wrong with you. This is dedicated to everyone who ever attempted to get into a regular workout routine Dear Diary, For my birthday this year, I purchased a week of personal training at the local health club. Although I am still in great shape since being a high school football cheerleader 43 years ago, I decided it would be a good idea to go ahead and give it a try. I called the club and made my reservations with a personal trainer named Christo, who identified himself as a 26-year-old aerobics instructor and model for athletic clothing and swim wear. Friends seemed pleased with my enthusiasm to get started! The club encouraged me to keep a diary to chart my progress. ________________________________ MONDAY: Started my day at 6:00 a.m. Tough to get out of bed, but found it was well worth it when I arrived at the health club to find Christo waiting for me. He is something of a Greek god-- with blond hair, dancing eyes, and a dazzling white smile. Woo Hoo!! Christo gave me a tour and showed me the machines.. I enjoyed watching the skillful way in which he conducted his aerobics class after my workout today. Very inspiring! Christo was encouraging as I did my sit-ups, although my gut was already aching from holding it in the whole time he was around. This is going to be a FANTASTIC week!! ________________________________ TUESDAY: I drank a whole pot of coffee, but I finally made it out the door. Christo made me lie on my back and push a heavy iron bar into the air then he put weights on it! My legs were a little wobbly on the treadmill, but I made the full mile. His rewarding smile made it all worthwhile. I feel GREAT! It's a whole new life for me. _______ ________________________ WEDNESDAY: The only way I can brush my teeth is by laying the toothbrush on the counter and moving my mouth back and forth over it. I believe I have a hernia in both pectorals. Driving was OK as long as I didn't try to steer or stop. I parked on top of a GEO in the club parking lot. Christo was impatient with me, insisting that my screams bothered other club members. His voice is a little too perky for that early in the morning and when he scolds, he gets this nasally whine that is VERY annoying. My chest hurt when I got on the treadmill, so Christo put me on the stair monster. Why the hell would anyone invent a machine to simulate an activity rendered obsolete by elevators? Christo told me it would help me get in shape and enjoy life. He said some other shit too. _______________________________ THURSDAY: Asshole was waiting for me with his vampire-like teeth exposed as his thin, cruel lips were pulled back in a full snarl. I couldn't help being a half an hour late-- it took me that long to tie my shoes. He took me to work out with dumbbells. When he was not looking, I ran and hid in the restroom. He sent some skinny bitch to find me. Then, as punishment, he put me on the rowing machine-- which I sank. _________________________________ FRIDAY: I hate that bastard Christo more than any human being has ever hated any other human being in the history of the world. Stupid, skinny, anemic, anorexic, little aerobic instructor. If there was a part of my body I could move without unbearable pain, I would beat him with it. Christo wanted me to work on my triceps. I don't have any triceps! And if you don't want dents in the floor, don't hand me the damn barbells or anything that weighs more than a sandwich. The treadmill flung me off and I landed on a health and nutrition teacher. Why couldn't it have been someone softer, like the drama coach or the choir director? ________________________________ SATURDAY: Satan left a message on my answering machine in his grating, shrilly voice wondering why I did not show up today. Just hearing his voice made me want to smash the machine with my planner; however, I lacked the strength to even use the TV remote and ended up catching eleven straight hours of the Weather Channel.. ________________________________ SUNDAY: I'm having the Church van pick me up for services today so I can go and thank GOD that this week is over. I will also pray that next year my husband will choose a gift for me that is fun-- like a root canal or a hysterectomy. I still say if God had wanted me to bend over, he would have sprinkled the floor with diamonds!!! -

Married_In_Maui replied to Married_In_Maui's topic in Buy / Sell / Trade Archives
Thanks for the ideas guys; I will check them out. Oh, one last thing, what exactly is the Christmas Tree Store Never heard of it. I think there might be one about 1 1/2 hours away, just wondered if it was worth the drive. -
I very highly recommend ladies that are getting married in Cancun & are looking for a florist, use Vanessa Jaimes. Unfortunately we had to cancel our wedding in Cancun b/c our travel agency canceled all charter flights to Mexico in May b/c of the outbreak of the H1N1 virus. Therefore, I never got to see the beautiful flowers that she helped me to design. Some may say that if I never got to see her work, then why would I recommend her. From the moment I contacted Vanessa, she has been nothing but helpful. She has responded to all of my questions & requests (all 2 million of them We then had to cancel & she was so understanding & even refunded our deposit 2 weeks before the wedding. She is such an artist, her work speaks for itself (check out her website Cancun Floral Design, Flower Arranging / Diseño Floral en Cancun, Arreglos Florales.) If your looking for a wonderful florist, please contact Vanessa.

Which Island for my Wedding?
Married_In_Maui replied to FutureMrsBane's topic in The Big Island Weddings
I have been to Maui, Kauai & the Big Island & my personal favorite is Maui. It's absolutely beautiful & I have to agree that it has a very laid back, tropical feel. Kauai is beautiful as well, I just felt like there was more to do on Maui. The beaches are, IMO, much more suitable for swimming on Maui. I do not have any interest in visiting the Big Island again, just wasn't for me. I would recommend Maui if you want plenty to do & beautiful beaches, or my second choice would be Kauai. I don't think you could go wrong with either of those. Good luck & I hope you have your dream wedding!!!! -
Hello all! I am on the hunt for a beachy ring bearer pillow. I have seen some super cute ones, but don't really want to pay $35-$40 for something that will only be used once for 2 minutes. Does anyone have one that they would be willing to sell. I have seen some with starfish attached & I have also seen some with some aqua ribbon around it that would also work with our colors. I would appreciate any pics if you have one to sell. Thanks in advance for any replies!! Have a great day!

I posted this in the other thread, but I thought some of you may also have some interest in this: Hey guys, just to update, we had to switch our desitination from Cancun to Maui, b/c along with not wanting to take 2 small children to Mexico with a swine flu outbreak, our travel agency canceled all their charter flights to Mexico for the month of May. Anyway, after emailing all the vendors to try to recoop some of the money, I got an email from Vanessa Jaimes (florist) that I thought was quite interesting so I thought I would share. So here it is: HOLA KIM I AM SO SORRY FOR DELAYED RESPONSE, WE´VE BEEN VERY BUSY WITH ALL THIS SITUATION. BUT SO FAR CANCUN IS A SAFE PLACE AND WE ARE SO UPSET ON HOW OUR GOVERNMENT MAKE SUCH A BIG DEAL ABOUT THIS. WE HAD OVER 100 DEADS LAST YEAR BEACUSE THE SWINE FLU AND NOBODY TELL ANYTHING. NOW THAT WE HAVE SELECTIONS IN 2 MORE MONTHS AND AFTER OUR ECONOMY IS GOING DOWN ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, THEY MAKE ALL THESE BAD RECOMMENDATIONS TO COME TO MEXICO. SO FAR WE JUST HAVE 3 WEDDINGS CANCELLED LAST WEEKEND, THIS WEEKEND WE HAVE 3 MORE AND THEY STILL COMING, BUT IF YOUR CLIENTS WANT TO STAY IN THE STATES, WE WILL UNDERSTAND. UNFORTUNATELY I DID SENT A DEPOSIT TO MY SUPPLIER LIKE A WEEK AGO, BUT WE JUST SENT $90 USD, SO I CAN GIVE YOU THE REST, PLEASE SEND ME YOUR BANK ACCOUNT AND I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN WE MAKE THE DEPOSIT. IF YOUR CLIENTS CHANGE THEIR MINDS ALSO LET ME KNOW RIGHT AWAY TO HOLD THIS DEPOSIT AND USE IT FOR YOUR WEDDING. SORRY FOR DELAYED RESPONSE BY THE WAY. KIND REGARDS So anyway, things look fine in Cancun & as we suspected, the media appears to have blown this whole thing out of proportion. Good luck to you ladies that were able to keep your weddings in Meixco. I was so excited to go back to Cancun, but Maui is just as exciting I suppose.
