    Congratulations and welcome to the site. My FI and I went to a DW last August in Punta Cana... it's an excellent location!

    It sounds like a nice idea but I'm not sure if it's worth it for us. I would prefer to put the $$ towards nice favors or the Welcome Reception/Brunch.

    We're still undecided as to whether we will have TA. We may just go directly with the hotel and through the airline to get group rates. BTW, I called American Airlines the other day and got some information about their Group Wedding Program. The guests can get a discount if they book with your group, it doesn't matter where they leave from. They use a code you provide and get a cheaper rate. Great option for those who may not want to use a TA.

    They were actually the first venue to respond to me and provide me with their wedding package information. Everything looked great but I read some reviews on tripadvisor.com and wasn't too thrilled. But I do hear a lot of positive things about the Riu in other countries.

    I agree choose one or the other. Maybe you could use Ipod for some music and use the band for the rest of the evening. I really wanted a steel pan band but I'm still up on the air because I'm not sure of the variety of music. At least with a DJ you can create a playlist.

    Another 2010 Bride checking in... hoping for a Spring/ Summer wedding. It's never too early to start planning. It gives you time to really decide on what you want.

    I'm having the same issue. Just tell them that you'll be having a private cermony for family and close friends but they can attend the AHR.

    Beautiful, great idea. I won't be sending out std's for another few months but I was planning on using vistaprint also. They are very inexpensive and they always have sales, who can beat 100 free postcards?

    Hi All, I'm planning a DW in Aruba for the summer of 2010. I understand that each resort has it's own Wedding Coordinator that assists with the event. I am also considering hiring a Wedding Planner in the U.S. who shares her business with an Aruban planner. I like this idea because I would be able to meet with her and she would be easily accessible. She would also assist with my guest travel plans. Does it make sense or should I just use the resort WC and find a travel agent to help my guests with their travel plans?? Thank you!

    Congrats and Welcome! My fiance and I attended a DW in Punta Cana last summer at Melia Tropical. It was so beautiful and now we are planning a DW of our own.

    I am planning a DW and Renaissance Resort is one of my top picks. For those of you who have planned a wedding there or are in the process, how was/ is the communication with the wedding coordinator/department? I also sent an email and haven't heard anything.

    I'm another Spring/Summer 2010 bride. It's never too early to start planning. I just got engaged about two weeks ago and there's so much to think about, so many decisions to be made.

    Welcome to the forum. I have a friend who got married in August 2008 in Punta Cana/ Sol Melia Resort. My fiance and I attended. We had a great time at resort and enjoyed a beautiful wedding.

    Hello All, I'm Sheree and I just got engaged on Valentine's Day. I'm so excited about getting married but I also feel a little overwhelmed about planning a wedding. We haven't made a final decision but a destination wedding is something that we strongly are taking into consideration. We haven't set a date yet but we're thinking about Spring/Summer of 2010. Some places we have been looking at are Aruba and DR. I'm so glad that I found this site. It's great to have input and advice of others to help make our wedding a special occasion.
