    Welcome and Congrats!!
  3. Thanks for the info, I may do this for our trip.
  4. Congrats, glad to hear that we have an ACE on board!
  5. Welcome and Congrats! Definately check out the Jamaica forums... you'll find tons of info there to help with the decision making.
  6. You should send them as soon as you can. Spread the word about the wedding date to people if you haven't already done so.
  7. I sent out my STD's in August and plan to send an email or letter(older crowd) to my guests about booking. I'm kind of glad I did it this way-It looks like guests are not in a rush to book. We'll set a Dec deadline to book so we can get some idea of numbers before the new year.
  8. Welcome and Congrats from a fellow Aruban Bride! I'm getting married next July on Renaissance Island. As far as location for your wedding- it all depends on what you would like for your special day. Also, the size of your group is important. do you want all inclusive or not? A few places that I looked into were: Bucuti, Occidental, Marriot Stellaris, Riu, Manchebo, Radisson, Westin and of course the Renaissance. Each place is unique and you will have a different experience. Let me know if I can help in any way.
  9. Congrats and Welcome! DR is a beautiful place for a DW. My FI and I went to a wedding in Punta Cana last summer and loved it! After that we knew we wanted a DW too. Check out the DR section, you'll find tons of info there. I would recommend Sol Melia Tropical Resort in Punta Cana.
  10. Welcome and Congrats! I'm also getting married in Aruba- let me know if I can help in any way.
  11. Welcome and Congrats! We're getting married on the same day!!
  12. It depends on you but I would say wear the dress. Even if you wear it for a little to take some pictures with guests and change into something more comfortable.
  13. I understand, there are so many negative people out there. If it's too expensive and they can't afford it then they can stay home. My FI are having the first DW in both of our families. Initially my mom wasn't too thrilled but when we told her that's the plan she jumped right on board. My FI's parents expressed their disagreement. Even after we booked the venue and ordered the STDs FMIL said that she will begin looking into venues locally because SHE felt it would be cheaper in the States. I'm so glad that FI and I made our decision and stuck with it. We did it because it;s what WE want and what's the best for us. A local wedding for us would have had a guest list of at least 300ppl and would be like a circus.
  14. Don't let it get you down. This this one drawback of having a DW. Not everyone can make it. Just enjoy yourself with those who do attend.
  15. Glad to hear that you found someone. Her site is great, I've been getting ideas from her. I can't take my eyes off this forum also. Im... addicted! I can't help but spend hours upon hours on here.
  16. Karen... glad you found the dress! What is the price range for the dresses at Pronovias?
  17. Hey, I'm not getting married in Vieques but I wanted to share a website that's one of my favorites. The WC has a blog that has info and suggestions for planning a DW. Welcome to Weddings in Vieques | Weddings in Vieques Hope that helps... at least it will be a start! Good luck.
  18. look at that... we're from NYC- the city that never sleeps!
  19. It's so late... at least I'm not the only one addicted to this site.Lol. I think the mermaid style is the best for me, taffeta, ruching(sp?). But I also tried on a big poofy one and loved it but it was a little too heavy for the beach.
