  3. Just wanted to post an update. FMIL came over to talk about her ideas for the AHR. FI and I had already decided that we didn;t want one since it was getting out of hand. It started out as a backyard BBQ to a reception hall. We told her this and she was still insistant. We both expressed that this is not what we want to do and it was getting bigger than we wanted. It took , we had to explain all of our reasons over and over until she finally said okay and that was that. I felt a little bad but quicky got over it because she needs to respect our wishes. I haven't spoken to her since and I wonder if she'll bring it up this weekend...
  4. I went to an AHR for a DW and the bride had a scrapbook with pictures from the wedding and used it as the guestbook. I thought it was a great idea. I want a guestbook but would like something a little different. I'm leaning towards the photomat. I would say just keep it simple - maybe have a guestbook for both events but seperate it- one section for those who attended the wedding and the other section for those who went to the AHR. I also like the postcard idea- it does go great with the DW theme.
  5. This all makes me nervous. I hate that the airlines changed the baggage rules! I'm trying to wait to see how many guests will RSVP before I go on a shopping frenzy and can't bring my all my stuff with me. I wouldn't ship anything. You're better off bringing it with you.
  6. If you're doing the OOT bags-Another great idea could be one of those reusable shopping bags in your wedding colors- not personalized. Fill it up with treats/ items. Guests can use it for the beach/shopping and can also use it when they get home.
  7. Some brides think it's worth it, other's think its a waste. I wouldn't recommend personalizing it with all of your wedding information but maybe just the name of the island and Month/year w/a small design like a starfish/palm tree. I feel if it has too much info your guests may not use it too much beyond the trip. I wanted to do bags in the beginning but it's not definate. I will make my decision based on the number of guests that decide to come. If it's a small group then I'll do it. I'm also afraid that it may be wasted.
  8. I'm leaning towards the rose petals. They will look so beautiful on the sand.

I'm trying to figure out what type of flowers I should have. Are you guys using the same flowers for bridemaids and yourself? My colors are coral and turquoise- any suggestions on flowers Hi! so you made your final decision and the choice was the Renn! How exciting- we're getting married there also next July. I'm still narrowing things down and haven't decided on the floral/bouquet colors. I really like an all white bouquet but have seen some really nice light colored-blush bouquets, or maybe a tropical mix. I'm not sure yet. I only have one MOH so I guess we could have something similar. Check with Juney, maybe he can send you some pictures of bouquets. I'm a little nervous and have the fear that I may forget to do something but I think the main things will get done. I've heard nothing but positive things about Juney so we'll be in good hands. lol
  10. Gorgeous dress!! It looks wonderful on you. I'm glad that you found the ONE!!
  11. I think it's up to you. We're getting married on a Friday. FI and I will be there Tues. and our guests will arrive Wed/Thurs.
  12. I think some guests can be inconsiderate. I expect that my solo travelers may want to bring someone- that's okay. They're paying lots of $$ to travel a long way to my wedding. I had to laugh the other day when one of my guests asked how many guests she could bring along? I told her she was invited along with her husband. If he doesn't come she can bring one of her friends in his place. Her rationale is that if she is in a triple she will have to pay less. But what she doesn't realize is that I will be paying for another person. It's not a free for all?! I've only heard from some people about wanting to come to the wedding. No one has booked yet- we have a deadline with the TA of Dec. 1. Only time will tell. I apologize for ranting...

  16. Congrats and Welcome! Check out the DR section and see what other brides have to say. I went to a wedding at the Melia in summer of 2008 and it was so beautiful. My FI and I knew then that when we got married we would want a DW. Good Luck!!

    Hello

    Welcome and Congrats!
  18. Another thing, I sometimes feel like I work myself up too much and need to remember to keep it simple. I don't know about you all but I've been to several weddings over the years and I really don't recall much about what was on the menu, centerpieces and chair covers. It was more about the good time we had at the wedding.
