We are actually probably going to have the wedding somewhere on the beach, dinner at a restaurant, and we are going to rent a villa and have our reception there. It'll be private and we can swim afterwards!!!! We thought it was a great cost saving option, since we'll just get a few cases of Amstel Bright (the best beer in the world....definitely try it when you're down there), some bottles of liquor and snacks. We're just looking for the perfect spot now to do the ceremony. We're leaning towards the area by the lighthouse, it's beautiful over there and the pics would look great with the lighthouse in the background. But, we're still debating. Ask me any questions if you have them. I'm so glad i found this forum. Good luck to you all. My FI and I also wanted to have our wedding in DR. We wanted to do something different and that's why we selected Aruba. Both of us have never been to the island, neither have most of our guests!! This forum has been great and has helped a lot with my planning. When are you getting married?

We are worried that it might not suit some of our more "mature" guests. We saw the Black Pearl off shore and know there are other boats in the area. Does anyone have recommendations for a fun but not "too" fun snorkel trip? Thanks! I've also heard great things about Mi Dushi sunset cruise. If you have a big enough group you can get a private charter. Mi Dushi » Home
  3. I think it's okay to wait until the invite. I'm sure if someone is uncertain they will ask you if they can bring a guest.

  5. Absolutely gorgeous pics!! Congrats on your marriage. You make such a beautiful couple. It looks like pictures out of a DW magazine.
  6. Congrats Mrs.,thanks for sharing your pics! You were a beautiful bride and you and hubby make a wonderful couple. Everything looked so elegant and it looked like everyone had a good time. Your wedding is similar to what I'm looking for. We also want everything outside( beach ceremony and reception). Don't worry about the minor detail of the tie. It's one of the many memories that you will have years to come and laugh about. can't wait for the pro pics.
  7. I'm glad I found this post. I decided from the beginning that I wanted to keep everything simple. I even have been good with just looking at stuff but not buying anything( as far as decor). We have an extensive guest list and won't have our final numbers at least for a few months. Right now we would prefer to wait and see how many people will come but we want to put the majority of $ into photographer, food, open bar and welcome event. Our ceremony will be at sunset on a private island beach. I Don't want to have too much stuff to take away from the beauty. Plus I'm a real simple person and don't get too carried away. Over the years after attending many weddings, I don't recall the centerpieces, wedding colors, favors etc. I just remember memories of everyone having a good time at the wedding. I went to a DW in DR a few years back and it was the most amazing wedding ever. Everything was beautiful and the bride didn't have to do much. Keep it Simple!!
  8. Ms Yuri: I contacted a few and got different results. They all wanted their package, hotel and air for two plus: Photog 1) food and shuttle or fee of $100 Photog 2) all meals, ground transportation, taxes and tips Photog 3)no mention of extras, just hotel and air Photography for us was very important. Unfortunately, when we were looking we didn't find anyone( at the time) to justify paying all of the extra money to bring to Aruba. We found a great person on the island and it all worked out. Definately do your research and look at all of the other costs. A splurge for an excellent photog is worth it though. Good luck!!
  9. OMG, don't get too stressed. FMIL had a long list of ppl she wanted to invite but we couldn't invite them all. It's been a few months and I don't think she's gotten over it. Since she couldn't invite all the ppl she wanted to she mentioned that she will be planning a AHR for us ( one that FI and I already told her we DON't want). If it's not one thing it's another. I don't understnad why people just can't respect our wishes, after all it is OUR special day.
  10. I'm getting married in Aruba but just wanted to say hello as a fellow non-AI bride. When we were looking to bring a photographer from the US we were informed of an additional fee per day for meals.
  11. Love the pics!! My two favorites are the one with you and hubby under the Divi tree and the one with you and your mother in the room getting ready.
  12. Great job putting it all together! Best wishes on your upcoming Valentine's Day wedding.
  13. Hi RoryS: Aruba is a great choice for your niece's wedding. If she is interested she can contact the wedding planner- Juney to get a proposal( pricing). Weddings in Aruba : Renaissance Aruba Weddings
  14. We plan to have an event the night before the wedding and initially I wanted to add this to the invite. I changed my mind since we still haven't confirmed our plans and I didn't want to delay the printing of invites. I'm thinking of just sending an evite a week or two before. I'll also include the info on our website and spread it by word of mouth.
  15. We're also using a steel drum. It will go with the whole island DW theme. I haven't really thought about the songs they'll play. I'm sure they will now what to do.
  16. Shortnsweet: I love your hairstyle! It looks so classy and natural, perfect for your special day. The inspiration pics are great, thanks for sharing.
  17. Welcome and Congrats!!
