  1. Cake decoration? that sounds really interesting. Will you be designing your own wedding cake?
  2. Sounds like a great deal for $1,800. Maggiano's gets very positive reviews from those who have used it for their reception.
  3. Both are gorgeous dresses but if hard pressed I would say #2--I love the detailing on the bodice and waist. Excellent choices.
  4. Wow, I sympathize with your situation--you will find others on here who have experienced similar situations with their families due to the cultural, racial or religious differences of their FI. But at the end of the day you are both adults and your decision to be together is yours alone to make. If they can't see past your cultural differences then it is their loss. I hope you and your FI can manage to move ahead despite his family.
  5. I am a Human Resources Manager for a non-profit organization. My job is enjoyable for the most part--except on days when I feel like I am a glorified babysitter for adults.
  6. Congrats on making a decision! What was included in the $1800.00? Also will you be having a reception afterwards?
  7. Congrats! Your pics look like they turned out very nice. I have heard nothing but great things about SATP. Looking forward to your review.
  8. Try doing a search on this forum I know there are several detailed posts from brides who used Caesars & MGM for their wedding.
  9. Ewwwwww!!!!! So gross and yet....so funny!!! thanks for the chuckle.
  10. Try silicone scar sheets or silicone gel such as Dermatix. Both products are expensive but you will definitely see improvement. You can sometimes find them on ebay. The brand to look for is Dermatix or any that are made by pharmaceutical companies. The regular strips you find on the counter at drugstores are not as effective. Good Luck.
  11. I can appreciate how your FI feels about it just being about the two of you at the ceremony. But I ultimately think this is a good test of compromising. Jo&Daz 20-10-2010 presented some excellent points:why do you want your sister in the wedding? Is it out of obligation because she is your sister? Is there some other way she can be involved other than as a bridesmaid? Reading a poem or preparing a special speech? Having some coordination responsibilities etc. Good luck & keep us posted.
  12. Great review and beautiful pictures..Congratulations!
  13. My Father/Daughter dance will be The Stylistics "You're a big girl now" I know I will be bawling throughout the dance.
  14. Excellent post!!! I am a HUGE reggae lover and I will be playing probably 80% reggae at my reception--not dancehall but the classics some ska, rocksteady and of course lovers rock. Some must have selections that will defintely be crowd pleasers--Sweet Sensation by the Melodians, The Heptones, The Paragons,The Abbyssinians, John Holt, The Mighty Diamonds, King Jammy, Jacob Miller etc....the list goes on and on so many great songs.
  15. Our legal day will be before our DW. Right now it is just the two of us--but I may ask a close friend to attend as well.
  16. As previous posters have said the best way to ensure you have the best JA experience is to leave the go-go-go mentality at home. In JA everything works on Island time--so experiencing long waits for service whether in restaurants/shops etc..should be expected. Also, Jamaicans are some of the best salespeople in the world--they can talk you into buying anything. Don't be afraid to bargain with them--it's expected! A HUGE recommendation I would make is to do the Blue Mountain Tour. If you have the time it is well worth it.
  17. My FI & I live in different countries..he's from the US therefore we will be having a legal ceremony and then having our DW as our symbolic ceremony. I would prefer to just have the DW as our legal wedding but because of immigration reasons we have decided it would make things easier to get married legally in the US first.
  18. I recall seeing a thread on here with tips on how to protect the sand on your journey home--try doing a search. I vaguely remember reading that some resorts can prepare the sand bottle for you by specially sealing the lid. I also heard wrapping the jar in lots of bubble wrap helps minimize mixing.
  19. The pics turned out fantastic. Very professional and your photographer got creative which is great. The black & white one is a real stand out. The inside of the chapel looked nice also. Did you take reception pictures? Also would love to hear what your list of what you would/would not do again.
  20. I have 1 MOH and I will be paying for her dress because she is not working right now and I didn't want her to have the pressure of trying to budget paying for a dress she may only wear once for my wedding. For all the years she has been a supportive good friend to me paying $150-200 for her dress doesn't seem like a big deal to me.
  21. We are having a secret legal cermony within the next few months at city hall and then planning a symbolic destination wedding for early 2010. Because we live in different countries FI(American) we want to get the immigration process started now--instead of waiting until after our wedding. For the legal city hall wedding it will just be the two of us.
  22. Great review and very helpful. Did you use the Vegas Wedding Chapel on S 3rd Street?? If so did you use the Chapel or Terrace? I have been looking at the pics on their website but would like to know what its really like inside. Thanks.
  23. I hope it won't cost too much either! I'm going to schedule a consul with them--I'll let you know how I make out.
  24. Great review Nicole! Sounds like you had a wonderful day. Congrats & best wishes for a happy and joyful marriage. Looking forward to seeing the pics.
  25. Nicole- Are you back from your wedding? How did it go? Were you happy with Little Chapel?? Looking forward to your review.
