[email protected] Hey Crystal I posted my copy in the Dominican forums. It's also posted in the DIY forums but figured it'd be more useful here. I couldn't upload my template because it was too big, so I created a website where you can copy and paste all the info into your own format. Have fun!

Majestic Colonial 20 page information booklet
khomac replied to khomac's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
TIPS & INFORMATION: ~ Using a glossy paper will make colours POP dramatically ~ I used 11X17 paper - landscape ~ I re-arranged all the pages so that it would fold up into a booklet during printing (THIS WAS THE HARDEST PART) ~ Booklet has 10 pages front and back printed in full colour. Therefore I had 20 colour pages. Pages are 11X17 and therefore a lot more expensive for printing. ~ One Booklet cost approximately $8 ~ You may want to check other sources to see if my information is still correct before using it yourself. ~ I notice these threads go on for years so notice the date I posted it and know that information can change a few years from now. I created a website because my booklet it too big to upload the template. The website is strictly for content because I couldn't do formatting and adding pictures, so the actual design of the booklet is up to you. You can look on Trip Advisor for pictures and insert the ones you like. I worked sooooo hard on this and I feel so good now that it's done. Thank you to everyone who has helped contribute ideas for me! Majestic Colonial Info Booklet Content -
This is my favourite DIY project that I made for my wedding. I had travelled to the Majestic for my friends wedding, and then I had photos taken with my FI on a second visit to the hotel. That is where I got most of my information. I used content similar to ErinB Best Destination Wedding Forum ~ The Ultimate Destination Wedding Resource. Apparently this link no longer works, so I'm trying to find hers again. I'll post it when I find it. I also saw images from someone named Daina & Dan. I looked all over but couldn’t find her thread. I fell in love immediately with her layout, colours, and raffia ribbon and I copied all of these to a T. I hope that Daina will acknowledge this to let people know it was her format completely. Here are my images with a description down below ***one more page***

Jorge Allocco photography...anybody use him?
khomac replied to shankd's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Personally I love his photo's. If you're looking for better photo's then you'll also be paying a higher price. He's also very friendly, replies to your messages quickly, is honest and experienced. I'm sure you could negotiate a different package as well. As a comparison, the resort photographer at the Majestic charges $500. For the $500 you get before, during, and after the ceremony - about 2-3 hours. You choose 50 poses and they will print 2 sets of those 50 pics. The print outs are 6X8 and you also get the images on a CD. http://www.jorgeallocco.com/ -

I don't know how to put it into words.

Finally! my kind of bride!!! I think your's will be the funnest party ever!! Traditions are almost a thing of the past! Make your own new traditions and that will have everyone talking. We need to stop worrying about what other people think of us, and instead focus on ourselves. It seems like weddings are almost a competition these days. I love your idea!

MIL Majorly Messed Up Invitations... Help!
khomac replied to Queenie77's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Invites: I like the Vista print idea. They actually do have some elegant designs on there. It could be titled "Reminders about . . ." or something appropriate. Party: I love planning parties and when my MOH wouldn't let me give input about my shower, I was frustrated. I'm a laid back country girl, and she wanted classy & sophisticated. She did foot the bill. To my surprise, it was nice to just show up and not have to worry about anything. Yes she did a nice job and it looked great (not how I would have done it), but in the end, it was still nice. If it's really important to you, I would approach her myself. Say you'd really appreciate giving input as this is your one and only wedding. Tell her you love planning things, and it means alot to you to at least have a say. In the end, relax. Enjoy the event, and talk about it with your close friends and us here on BDW. I actually as a guest, I think it would be hilarious if I called the doctors office to reply to a wedding lol. As the bride . . . no so funny!!! I'd be pissed too. We're all with you girl! -
Too many friends, no more BM slots!
khomac replied to LowcountryGirl's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Make them an "unofficial bridesmaid". Have only 1 person walk down the aisle with you, but still have them get ready with you for hair, makeup, getting dressed. Or throw them all in! Break traditions! You don't have to have an even number of guys and girls. If they are all special to you, ask them all! Sometimes brides find it difficult when there are too many opinions. Something else to consider. Personally, I didn't specifically ask anyone to be a MOH, BM as I knew those I wanted, couldn't afford to come. One girl is coming with me so I asked her to be MOH. Well this kinda leaves a problem for wedding showers, bachelorette, etc because no one else was really involved in planning these events, and she took it upon herself to do everything. She planned things I didn't really want, and kinda messed up with the shower. That's why I'd consider asking them to be your "Unofficial Bridesmaid", so they can help with at home stuff. -
I didn't really "invite" anyone. I just told everyone that they were welcome to come if they could afford it, and if work allowed. I told them that the only people that were required to come were mom, dad, and brother. Anyone else after that would be considered a bonus. You'll get used to the comments/complaints, and when they see your pictures when you get back, they'll be saying "Oh I wish I would have been there! It looks like you had so much fun!"

Marriage Certificate Translation

When you are translating your documents (birth certificate, passport) to bring with you to the DR, these must also be certifiied through a Statutory Declaration. It's been a while, and unfortunately I didn't keep any of the emails from the Dominican Consulate (in Toronto), but having these docs translated, PLUS we had to translate our divorce certificates from our previous marriages, rang up to the tune of over $300 (or may-be even $500! I'll check my wedding bills and stuff at home tonight). The Consulate "legalizes" these docs as opposed to "notarizing" them. You can cut some of the cost by having everything translated first by ATIO, who also certifies them, then bring them to the Consulate for "legalization". You can download the forms you need from their site: D.R. Marriage Requirements. If I remember correctly, the Consulate charges $100 to legalize them. This is simply another way for the consulate to make money, because if you don't legalize them, they won't be accepted by the judiciary in DR. This thread was originally about translating your marriage certificate when you get back. You don't have to go through the Consulate for this. I'm planning to go to the Ministry this weekend to get my drivers licence in my married name, using the certified translation from ATIO. I'm not anticipating any issues, but I'll update this post with the results anyway. My question was about the marriage certificate. I don't believe you can just bring in a translated copy. Notarizing the translated copy says "yes, this spanish document is the same as this new english document" I don't think the Ministry or any other place will just accept somebody's translated copy. They need proof that they are the same document. I believe that the Marriage Certificate needs to be translated and notarized? No? -

Marriage Certificate Translation
khomac replied to Thomasjsgirl's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Now is this only for the translations? I think you still have to get it notarized after that don't you? -
I created an information booklet for my Majestic guests. It's in the DIY section of this site. Here is the link. Feel free to use any of the information! http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t49575 If you want to copy and paste any of the info, I've created a website Majestic Colonial Information

Oh Erika! I'm so sorry this happened to you! Only positive thoughts are heading your way! Take care of yourself, keep your head high! Usually you hear negative things about websites, chat, forums, because people "aren't realy who they truly are" But here it's different. How many of these girls did you know before you joined? Probably none. And now, here they are, sending you gifts. BDW really has some amazing members and I'm glad I found it! Take care Erika!

OMG how many of you keep saying AWWW!! out loud and get tears in your eyes? I hope I'm not the only one! FI doesn't live in the same country so I don't really have anything like what you ladies are describing, but the one thing that is the most important to me is that he is ALWAYS available for me. I can call him anytime and even though he may be at a club, he'll leave the party just to talk to me, even if the conversation lasts an hour. He has never given me a reason not to trust him. We've been chatting everyday for 1 1/2 years, and I can honestly say without a doubt, that I can truly fully trust him and to me, that's special

Even though they are sister hotels they are still separate hotels. This is correct however on the day of the wedding, it is cheaper at $50 per person. The co-ordinator needs to provide a list of off site guests to the security guard.
