Let me know if you definitely hear something different because I have 15 rooms but not all of them are 7 nights. Lauren It does have to be for 7 nights and I believe it has to be full regular price rooms with no discounts or children. But again, look into it. I could be wrong.

Jeez, it's hard to keep up with you ladies and your posts! I had to read through like, 9 pages! Just wanted to say: That photographer thing!?! WOW! Hope that got dealt with. What an arse, but what goes around comes around! This BodyGlide. Where can I find it? I'm in Canada and have stores like Wal-Mart, Superstore, Zellers, but can go south of the border to Target, Walgreens, etc. can anyone help? Weight loss. Don't think I'll ever be rid of weight loss problems! I admire anyone who has the willpower to avoid foods, and the motivation to work out/walk. I feel so lazy lately!!! I feel so lucky to have found BDW and this forum! Thanks ladies!!

How much do you tip your non-wedding hair stylist?
khomac replied to frazali's topic in Random Thoughts
I'm just from a small town so I have no idea about costs in NYC, but to me $50 is more than like 2 hours worth of pay?! I'm cheap, and only get a cut (no colour, etc) so I pay $34 and just give them a $40. If I had to pay $240, then I'd probably give them $30 or $35. They get paid by their employeer, plus tips right? I think I need to switch careers! But I do agree that amazing hairstylers deserve a good tip so . . . I don't know what I'm trying to say! lol I'm a tool ) -

So I'm an independent consultant for an adult romance company. I'm looking for new games to play during my presentation. I don't want cheesy games like "have you ever . . .", OR "give yourself 5 points if you . . .", OR pop a balloon between your legs, OR memory games, or "how many words can you make out of . . .". I'm looking for eyes swollen shut from crying, peeing your pants, sore throat kind of laughter. Something that makes them have to get a drink of water. Something a little risque, but still mild enough to not scare people away. Frying Pan game: one person holds pan to butt, bends over. Other person ties a swinging object around their waist and has to see how many times they can hit the pan by thrusting. Double Ended Dildo game: Hot potato, but instead use a long floppy dildo and pass between the knees. Plunger & Toilet Paper Roll: One person hold roll between legs, the other has to try and get the plunger handle through the roll. **Any one else have some super hilarious game ideas? Something you may have seen at a bachelorette? Thanks in advance for any ideas you ladies may have!!

I'm not really clear on what needs to be booked with the coordinators in advance, and what you're supposed to wait to book until you're down there. I know the coordinators are busy, so I don't want to send them unnecessary emails. So far, I have confirmed my date with the coordinators only. I'm not sure what I need to be bugging them about next though. Do I need to book my photographer (I'm using the resort photog.), hair/makeup, kinds of flowers, cake appearance, colour of the canopy, etc now? And would I do all of this through the coordinator (or would I contact the spa/photog. separately)? Also, we only have 10 guests, so we're just going to use an a-la-carte as some of you suggested. Since they separate us a little bit from the rest of the restaurant, do we book that before our trip through the coordinator, or do we just book it when we get there like we would any other night we use an a-la-carte restaurant? Any help/suggestions you can give me would be great!!! Thanks in advance! After I booked, I told them my ceremony location, dinner location, reception location, and whether or not I needed the sound system/DJ/photographer. Don't book the restaurant yourself. Let the co-ordinator do it for you. It is part of your wedding package and you get a fancy decorated table. If you book it yourself, you may not get the same service. The canopy is always white so if you want a different colour, I believe you have to bring it yourself. You can get the email address of the spa, however it seems common that they don't actually book you in anyway. I've heard from many people that they went to the spa the day they arrived to confirm, and it turned out it wasn't booked. Destination Weddings are so easy and carefree. Especially when you have a nice inimate group of 10 or so. I wouldn't worry about anything else until you get there. Remember, they do weddings almost everyday, sometimes a couple in the same day. They are experts and you don't have to worry Congrats on your wedding!

I don't think the resort realizes how important it is for us to reserve our date. We all want to start looking at flights/rooms, etc but they seem to take forever especially when you are so excited! Congrats on your wedding!

As far as contacting the wedding co-ordinators go, they are extremely busy, and appear to be dealing with the closest weddings first. If you're scheduled for 2010, they probably won't respond as quick maybe. **TIPS** Generate a list of questions Keep wording simple (no slang) Don't send multiple emails Make the subject line CLEAR ie. "Need to schedule a date" Just imagine how many emails they must receive in a day. Look at the Facebook group as well as on here, and you'll see how many people contact them (plus the TA's). I've taken a break from contacting them. I just scheduled my date with the priest, told them my locations, and left it at that. A lot of the times you can get your answer from BDW or FB group. Good Luck though! I know you're not the only one having trouble.

Bargains welcome
khomac replied to DestCabo10's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Everyone has awesome ideas! Personally, my friends/family don't expect anything at all. Instead of putting items inside, maybe just get them a nice Beach Bag? Something they can use other places. I also made an information booklet on what to expect during the vacation. I have also been ordering Sticky Notes, Note Pads, Pens, hats and T-shirts from Vista Print. They ALWAYS send me emails everyday where you can get all of these items free and just pay the shipping. Sticky Notes, Note Pads, Pens, and a Hat costs me $5.03 for shipping. I figured everyone uses note pads, and sticky's especially for messages/lists so I know they will all be used. You can only order one on each order, but there are unlimited orders per day that you can do. Good Luck! -
Anyone use Michael's for a bouquet
khomac replied to latricej919's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I made my own using Michaels flowers. I used Stargazer Lillies, Calla Lillies, and 1 big Gerber in the center. They look incredible, as do some of the roses. The price you pay will determine your quality. For example, there are several types of roses/orchids/lillies to choose from. The cheaper ones look and feel fake, whereas the more expensive ones, no one can tell their fake. I made my bouquet myself and only bought when the flowers were on for 1/2 price, or used a 40% or 50% off coupon. I'm there every weekend and they all know me know This bouquet cost me $34, my MOH cost $17, bouteniers not done yet. -
Majestic & Riu PC Visit
khomac replied to karenk77's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
I can tell you right now from past experience, that the guard at the Majestic WILL NOT let you in unless he is given permission by the manager or wedding co-ordinator or someone. If you don't have a band, you will not get through, and he checks everyone. He will look in the vehicle and ask to see your bracelet. I was getting pictures taken for 2 hours on the resort with a well known photographer. This photographer had asked the manager for permission however the manager forgot to tell the guard. Luckily my Dominican fiance was able to communicate with the guard. After the guard refused to radio the manager, my fiance had to run to the plaza to buy a phone card so that we could use his cell to call the resort. We had to find the photographer, who had to find the manager, who had to radio the guard. We waited about 1 hour for all of this to get settled. I sat in the heat, ran out of water, watched all the other tourists walk past me staring at me. Luckily my fiance is spanish, otherwise we WOULD NOT have gotten in. Please set something up with the wedding co-ordinator in advance and tell her to tell the guard to let you in. Good luck. Keep a cell phone handy, as well as phone numbers and don't let your taxi driver take off until you get through the gate. I wish you luck! -

Weddings in the Dominican
khomac replied to Hannah's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
I think if you are considering a wedding in the DR, then choose a resort in Punta Cana. Maybe the negative reviews your heard were about other areas in the DR cush as La Romana, or Puerto Plata? PC is very popular for Canada and the US. At the resorts, the employees call it Punta Canada. I also think we love it so much because it's mostly canadian & US tourists. Maybe UK people prefer to be around more British/European tourists to make things feel slightly more "familiar"?? Know what I'm saying? Like Cultural differences maybe? I don't know. Just a thought. LOL I don't think you'd be disappointed with PC. Like other posters said, it has the best beaches!! -

Parents' gifts suggestions
khomac replied to reevesbride's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
I love scrapbooking and gave my parents a scrapbook for christmas that was childhood pics leading up to today. Similar to everyones idea's of photobooks but this one is scrapped. Some resorts are really accomodating so you can also probably ask for special treatment in your parents room when they arrive or on a specific night. Maybe arrange for dinner on the beach or pay for breakfast in bed? -
Ya, I wouldn't worry about it too much. When you give it to them, you can say "I wanted to get you guys a little something and I thought Beach Bags would be appropriate. Then as I started shopping, I found a few extra things that I thought you might need so I decided to add them" This way, they are told that the bag is their gift and the things inside are extra's. I bet your guests aren't even expecting you to get them anything

It's memorable and something your guests will talk about forever! Plus it totally suits you because of your last name! You're going to have this beautiful wedding, in a tropical paradise, plus you have gotten everything you wanted during the planning stages. If he is serious about the idea, I say GO FOR IT! I know I'll be telling my family (moose hunters), and my dad will probably want me to get the same thing lol
