  1. I checked through westjetvacations.com and I checked everyday. Those prices sound great for Ontario to PC in July. My wedding is October - low season. When I booked my ticket in March it was $1323. Prices fluctuated weekly and sometimes daily. One time it was even $2000 for an October package which was ridiculous seeing as that's what I paid for a January package. Well, today the price is down to $1270 and that's flying from Thunder Bay to PC. I found westjetvacations to be my cheapest option. BUT make sure you have a date with the co-ordinator FIRST! (don't know if you did that already).
  2. If you are picky, use silk. They have beautiful arrangements. Tell them what colours and they'll whip together an amazing bouquet.
  3. Stamperamma: OMG!! I'd totally be pissed! I told everyone that I understand if they would rather take a vacation somewhere else other than PC. But what your MOH did was lie to you! She told you it was about getting time off work, etc, but then she goes and books another vacay? My blood pressure is rising and it's not even me who's involved! IslandBride2B: Keep staying strong and keep giving your little boy positive influences, talk to him openly and never give up. Always be there for him so he knows he can open up to you. He needs a good role model with good morals. Good luck! She'll always be around so be careful! Sending out good vibes to you!
  4. Just wanted to share some hopefully exciting news. 2001 I went on anti-seizure medication for what the doctor called "abnormal brain patterns" lol sounds hilarious. These aren't epileptic seizures or anything, I just passed out 2 times in 3 years. Anyway, been on them since May 2001, By August, I had put on 21 pounds, by September I was diagnosed with depression. Before I started the pills I was 155 at age 21. Now today at 29, I'm 268 (cringing as I type that). I haven't told anyone that number. I saw a different doctor, and he said that it is okay if I go off the pills. He also believes that by going off of them, I will lose weight and my depression will get better. I would then be able to go off my anti- depressants. I'm am praying so hard that I can get back to normal. Anyone else know of anyone who has had a similar experience? It has been so long, that I forget what it was like to be normal

If we hadn't had the red light we would have had no problem. seriously?! Wow! I'd say Mexico is a lot more harsh than Dominican. I did have mostly clothes in my suitcases. Maybe if I had more items something different may have happened? Still didn't see people getting searched in Punta Cana though. Good luck Mexico Brides and by the sounds of it, bring your receipts!
  6. All I know is Westjet. If the bag is over the weight limit they make you take stuff out. There was one lady in front of me who was moving. She was over, so right in the front of the line, she had to take items out and switch suitcases. I believe the weight limit is to protect workers. Can you give a suitcase or two to someone else to bring on for you?
  7. Must have been a different thread then Boston And yes, shipping is EXPENSIVE!! $64 just to Purolate one of those cardboard Purolator envelopes. Here it is again Dominican: I brought an extra large suitcase and had it filled with clothes and gifts for my fiance's family. There was about 30 dollar store items, and about 40 shirts/shorts with tags still on them. My fiance hired a man to help me carrying the 2 stuffed suitcases, and the man brought me through to the guys to search the suitcases. I noticed that all the other people on the flight didn't hire a man to carry the bags, and they just walked right around the corner to the kiosks. When you fly into Punta Cana, after retrieving your suitcases, you are not "forced" to even go NEAR a guard who searches. This guy just flipped through the clothes, never inspected anything in great detail and never asked for my receipts. Never opened my makeup bag, or any other bags that I had in there. Like other posters in this thread said, PC is very lax with searches. Jan '08 when I went, I didn't even know they were there also, and Nov '08 when I went, no one else was getting searched. My guess is that it is dependent on if a guy helps you. Hope this helps a little. But I'm not worried. I'm just not going to let anyone help me. The guys in my family can carry my extra suitcases that are not on wheels, and I'm sure I'll be fine (fingers crossed).
  8. I made a long post about Dominican Customs in that exact same post. Read to the end of it.
  9. It is true, people truley don't know our size. Even when a plus size girl tells me her weight, I say "no way! Really?!" because you just can't tell. I've come to grips that I am a 2XL and its obvious. People know Im large. It's no secret. So if this were me, I'd flat out say, "I'm flattered that you think I'm L, XL, (fill in the blank), but to be honest, I can't fit the clothes you've bought me. I think they are beautiful and you have great taste, but in the future, if you buy anything else, can you go to . . . and get a size . . .?" That size at that store fits me perfect and I always love what they have." FYI, I don't know if you girls have Ricki's, but they sell beautiful tops (business, evening out) in a 2XL. Mind you, their pants only go to 18
  10. Girls you really don't have to panic about a thing. It's common for a bride to deal with one co-ordinator, and then on the day of the "meeting", go through details with a different co-ordinator, and then go back to the original co-or on the wedding day. They are professionals and like Lauren said, they do sooooo many weddings a day. Imagine how many they have done in a year! They WILL take care of you! I promise! It just breaks my heart to hear you girls stress so much! Chickpea: I've heard great things about the co-ordinator setting up any of your decorations, favours, etc, HOWEVER, I've heard of some items getting left behind after the ceremony, dinner or reception, and those items were never returned to the bride (like the sand ceremony vases for example). Ensure you put someone in charge of doing a quick look around for items belonging to you, and make sure they are brought with you.

Really? Someone quit? I only know of Sandra, Maritee, and Massiel. My suggestion is to confirm EVERYTHING! Your date, your romantic breakfast & dinner on the beach, photographer, everything! Im going to do one email a few weeks prior, with all the requests I have made, that way they are not scattered in different emails. Good luck ladies!

  13. I think we're getting the wrong idea's about the co-ordinators. look at all of the people who are emailing them, and that's just here. Imagine all the other people not on this forum who are getting married there. Please dont' doubt their skill and performance for your wedding day based on the email. I was MOH for my friends wedding there and they were incredible which is why I chose it for my own wedding. They really do take good care of you. My fiance is dominican and they have a different laid back attitude. The co-ordinators basically want to know your name and which date you need the judge for. Everything else you can plan there. Alot of brides don't get to see the resort beforehand so they might say they want Gazebo, Steakhouse, the Parrot Bar. But then when they get there, they see the other options, and then they change thier minds. This is a DW. They are supposed to be easy and carefree. BUT what the co-ordinators don't understand is that WE NEED A DATE!! I know alot of brides are trying just to book it and it's sooo frustrating because we need to book travel, time off work, etc. this is where the co-ordinators need to understand us North Americans lol Good luck girls, be patient, relax, and know that you will have a beautiful wedding no matter what happens!!
