  1. Ashey, We aren't doing a mortgage one but I didn't even know they existed! We are doing a charity registry but we have registered for gifts at more "normal" venues. We've been telling our moms and BMs and such to tell people to donate to our charity but for the more traditional folk we have the store registry. Personally, I think register for what you want. If you want to do the mortgage registry do it, but also register for a traditional store so people have a choice of what to do.
  2. I decided to peruse Macy's website and they have white long-sleeved Guayabera shirts on sale right now for $20. Its in their clearance section. Not sure how they look in person but they look good online.
  3. Excellent, thanks happy and Yael, I'll check them out. I have all the dad's and GMs set, just need the FI. *sigh*
  4. Hi Laceydawn, There's a great thread on here just for Moon Palace Brides http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t21569 It has a ton of posts so you can either try to read them all or search for specifics. I'm a Moon Palacer myself 5/8/09 so if you have any specifics you can PM me and I can see if I can help. Good luck!
  5. My FI has been really laid back on everything, including his attire! He just keeps saying whatever I want him to wear. Of course, this is his second wedding, his first was a monstrous Catholic affair that he had no say in at all. Since this is my first he keeps telling me to do whatever I want and just tell him what he should help with. Sweet deal!
  6. Ha, Blkatz I'm right there with you, I keep thinking of something else I HAVE to add. At this rate I'm going to need bigger bags! I am also having FI outfit issues. We have the linen pants but I want him to wear a long-sleeved white Guayabera type shirt. The only ones I can find online are either really plain (as in no pattern) or have random colors in their designs. Ugghhh... Any good websites out there? I think that Old Navy was carrying guys linen pants for a while. They might still have some on clearance....
  7. I just found out that my gazebo is the Bugambilia gazebo. I'm pretty happy, I wanted either that one or the Tucan gazebo. My only concern is that if we are staying in the Nizuc side is it a far walk to Bugambilia? I will be in my lovely carriage but will that be a haul for everyone else? Anyone have any idea?
  8. colcuba - good job on signing the contract. It took me a few days to hear back from them but you can always call them to make sure that they have it. I got mine via email. What date are you getting married? Camie - nice, my FI just pretty much asks me what he can do versus having a solid plan. That must be scary to think about it happening soon (after all you're prepared for May not March) but from what I hear most people are getting a kick out of being 'official' before getting to Cancun. Just be careful not to change your name yet or you might get some hassles.
  9. It does feel good to have that done. I'm going to pretend I'm creative next week since I don't have to work. Hopefully I'll come up with some cute things to share!
  10. Sorry ~ double post. Arrrgggg....
  11. Harty ~ that's so funny. I have to walk by the gym when I leave work (yea, for having a free gym at work). If I bring my gym clothes that day I can't just walk by, I feel like everyone stares and knows I'm a slacker! I just sent our invites out today. STDs went out forever ago but we sent the formals out today, including our AHR information which isn't until July. That's a big relief, everything else seems manageable now. I do feel guilty that I didn't DIY my invites though. All the ones I've seen on the forum have been so great. I went for fast, inexpensive and casual. I'll have to beef up my creativity on our OOT bags and what not.
  12. Thanks for the feedback! I really want to do the dangle earrings for the moms to match their dresses but they keep changing their mind on what they are wearing. What do you think of doing a neutral gem in the middle and then something that resembles our birthstones as the two side beads? Too cheesy?
  13. I just found this website and thought it might be useful for people still looking for GM gifts. Groomsmen Gifts | Best man Gifts | Quality Groomsman Gifts I've never used it so I can't speak to the service but they have a cool option for sports fans. You can get a personalized, signed photo of favorite players. You just give them the first name, choose one of 3 sayings and they digitally autograph it. Just thought is sounded kinda neat.
  14. To surprise my BMs and our moms I decided to have jewelry custom made to match their dresses and to symbolize our friendship. My BMs earrings are finally done and I wanted to share. They are wearing coral dresses. I'm trying to decide if the moms should have the same style or something different (my designer suggested hoops with different beads to match their dresses) any suggestions?

That being said, it may not even be long enough for an updo either :-(. It's barely touching my shoulders now, and the wedding is in 4 months. I have NO clue what to do with it! Oh, and to make matters worse, it's naturally wavy/curly so I'm worried that the heat and humidity will just make it go wild! I once had VERY short hair (to my ears) and I was a BM for a friend's wedding. She wanted us all to wear our hair up. If figured I was good b/c with hair that short it's always up. But no, she wanted me to have an updo like the other girls, WTF? Anyway, I went to my hairdresser and begged for help, she did some magic and made my hair "appear" to be much longer and pulled into an updo on the crown of my head. It was amazing. You would be surprised what bobby pins and creativity can do for hair. Or, you can always try extensions!
  16. I have been very lucky that my best friends and BMs have been great about everything with my DW (so far). They are all booked and ready to go. That being said, these are friends that I have had for almost 20 years (geesh that feels old to type). Now, friends that I've made in the past 20, not one of them is going to my DW, they "may" make it to my AHR and I've decided to TRY to not care. It's tough b/c we want everyone to be as excited as we are and it is easy to say that someone doesn't care about us or our wedding if they show no interest or are just plain a**holes about it, but I try to remember that everyone has their own issues and dramas and it isn't always about me. I don't believe that anyone is trying to hurt my feelings or anything, they just aren't as close as I thought they were, good to know. Whenever there are big changes made in life you really get to see who is going to be there for you. If there are people that are not there for you now try to distance yourself from their lives as well, if they aren't there for the good times they won't be there for the bad. Okay, so I started this post with good intentions of helping FLgator and others but now that I've reread it I'm not sure it does. So, everyone feeling blue about friends/family and their poopiness about your DW say the following affirmation ~ "I AM A GOOD PERSON AND I AM GOING TO HAVE A KICK-A** WEDDING IN ______ (INSERT LOCATION HERE). I WILL NOT THINK OF ANY ANNOYING, SELFISH, RUDE, SMALL-MINDED PEOPLE ON MY WEDDING DAY! THEY CAN ALL LICK THE SAND OFF MY PERFECTLY PEDICURED FEET!" Whew ~ I feel better!
  17. I just ordered these on Friday and they already arrived (yesterday) so fast! I love them too, they are perfect for what I have in mind. I got all five colors. My FI laughed and said now I'd probably try to find out everyone's favorite colors to give them, hmmm.....

I've been doing little things here and there but I haven't had any problems with communication with my WC or anyone else so I've been lucky. I'm getting married at Moon Palace and I have the Superior Wedding package so I don't have to worry about much. I also don't have a lot of things that I'm planning on bringing to the resort, whatever bouquet, cakes or meals they want me to have I'm cool with. This forum has been a great help too, helps me figure out what I should be worrying/thinking about and what not to. Of course, that being said, I'm sure I'll be on here freaking out when I'm within a month. Oh and it helps that I drink, LOL
  20. We're having ours just about 2 months after our wedding. We have people from all over that we are inviting so we want to give those coming to both some time in between the two events (My FMIL lives in FL, we live in NY, our wedding is in Cancun and the AHR is in OH). It also gives us some time to save up for the final deposits after we finish the actual wedding. I wouldn't worry about the time frame of when you have an AHR, you are celebrating your marriage, you can do that whenever you want!

So excited!!! A couple of months after we booked our rooms my TA told us that they were no longer letting people book oceanview rooms. So, we'd have to "upgrade" when we arrived. I complained to her as we had already booked them and she went back and forth with MP about it. They finally relented and we are now able to have all of our guests choose Superior or oceanview when they book vs. at the resort. My TA has a good relationship with MP as she has worked with them before, perhaps you can bug your TA to get it done. After all, they still offer it as an option to book on their website. Just a thought...
  23. Okay, I just ordered the DVD based on all of your great comments. I even convinced the FI to do it with me for 30 days. I'm sure I'll let everyone know how it goes. We love the Biggest Loser and have been using the website to help with our eating. I'm down about 8 pounds in a month and a half and he's down 15. The hardest part is once you are in your acceptable weight range getting those last few pounds off. I'm hoping Jillian can help me out!
  24. Thanks Kat81, It was nice to vent that all out. I felt much better after. You are totally right about everything. Thanks for the props on our meeting story. I realized that I've already known him for 1/2 my life and we aren't even married yet. Wow!
