  1. My mom thought I was totally crazy until I showed her some of the pictures that are on this site. Now she just thinks, I'm a little nuts. But, seeing the pictures was a huge help in swaying her since she had to admit that they were really beautiful and they fit well with where we are doing the wedding. So, I would suggest showing them to her, if you haven't already.

Also, my photographer actually calls these sessions "Love the Dress" becuase they really play off the wedding dress and since the dress is rarely ruined (unless the bride chooses to ruin it) as a result of the photo shoot.

If you cannot sway her, I would say try to find a cheaper TTD dress online or for sale second hand. At least this will help keep the peace - you get the pictures and you have not risked the dress

I would love for all of us to be there :-)
I'm ok with either, just let me know what you all want to do. I just figured I would put that out there :-)
You read my mind...pretty much exactly. It would be great to have a bigger group getting together, so I'm good if we want to try for another date. I'm also good if we still want to get together and also try for another get together on another day.

    Nope - Collegeville area

hijacked.gif Sorry, I'm going to side track for a second...do not know if you know that there is a plan for a BDW Philly get together April 18th at Chickie's and Pete's in South Philly at 4pm...http://bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/t36815
  4. I am so glad I found this thread. I am constantly reading and re-reading. I also have a fairly ecclectic taste when it comes to books. I will give anything a try. I think they only thing I have not enjoyed is Sci Fi.

I just finished American Wife. It is a fictional story of the first lady from childhood. But, it has definitive undertones of Laura Bush.

I will add a few more suggestions...

The Glitter & The Gold - It is a book written by Consuelo Vanderbilt about her life and the aristocratic life at the turn of the century

We Bought a Zoo (Benjamin Mee) - Not a famous story but is an autobiography chronically the family's purchase of a small zoo in England

The Dive (Pipin Ferreras) - Him and his wife are/were world champion free divers. It is thier story.

It's Not About the Bike - Lance Armstrong

A Child Called "It" - Dave Pelzer - He also wrote The Lost Boy and A Man Named Dave - it is the story of his life a child abused by his mother (A Child Called "It"), his time in foster care (The Lost Boy), and his views as an adult (The Man Named Dave) -- This is a heartbreaking but motivating triology.

Also, I know My Sergi was already recommended. I read this as well and it was a really good read.

  5. Mine cost $4800, but I lucked out. They are honoring the negotiate rate they have with my insurance company even though I am not covered, and they were running a promotion - $500 off the cost, free whitening at the end, the retainer and 0% financing for two years. So, it is costing me $3800.

  6. I actually get my trays next week. My colleague just went through it and she said it is uncomfortable when you change trays (which occurs every 10 days to 2 weeks - the frequency depends on how good you are about wearing them), but she reminded me you are moving your teeth, so no surprise it is uncomfortable. Also, when she initially got them it took some time to get used to them. But, overall the experience was not bad and she made it sound better than the old metal braces. And, her teeth look great! So, in the end it should be worth it.

When are you sending out your wedding invitations? We just got our invitations and have them all ready to be put in the mail. I was just wondering how far in advance other brides were sending them out. My wedding is June 25th. I feel like it may be to early?

    Thanks!
I sent mine out mid-March to give people time to still book if they wanted to come to the wedding.

I agree 100%. Phillies games will not be the same without Harry calling the game.
  9. I am having the opposite problem. We invited the kids to our DW and AHR. However, we have to keep calling friends/family becuase they are not indicating on the RSVP if the kids are coming or not. And, a few did not realize the kids were invited until I pointed out that I wrote the kids names on the interior envelope.

So, while we have different problems, I can sympathize.

I really like Smashbox. I recently switched from MAC to Smashbox and have liked how it looks. I am going to try going to the Smashbox counter at Nordstrom to see if they will help me with my wedding make-up.
  11. Congratulations! You will find a lot of useful information on this forum!

Unfortunately, it is difficult to make everyone happy when planning a destination wedding. A number of my family and friends are not happy that I'm having a destination wedding, and are not/cannot come. As you explore BDW you will see a number of threads in the venting section that discuss this issue. You have to do what will make you happy and, maybe, those who are most important to you to be there. Best of luck!
