  1. Same here! I ended up emailing the WC myself also over the weekend. She responded back to me late Monday night. Woo hoo!!!! I thought to myself.... how hard was that, really? Why couldn't the TA have done the same? I didn't want to have to babysit people, which is half of the reason that we chose to do a DW! Here I am, as usual, babysitting a TA. But, it IS my wedding, so of course i'm going to make sure it's done correctly! The RPTB WC confirmed by email that we have the date/time of Aug. 7, 2009 on the beach at $pm with a civil/legal ceremony. What a project to get something you would think would be so simple done!!! I was crying in the TA office Friday because I just bought my dress that day and ended up not having a wedding date! Can you imagine. You are absolutly correct when you all agree that they don't really see a problem. They are just getting money and booking a trip, as far as they're concerned. It's not a trip to Disney Land, I informed them.....IT'S MY WEDDING!!!! Very different/ fix your mess.
  2. Thanks ladies! You have all put my mind at ease for a bit. I'm going through a TA, but she put a hold on our rooms AND THEN requested a date. She did it all backwards and left me mad, upset and stressed out. After having a bridezilla meltdown in the agency.....it was straightened out a bit, but I couldn't put a deposit down on our DW rooms on Fri as planned for ourselves or guests because we have no def. date confirmed. It seems like everything was going fine, but blew up in my face when the TA "dropped the ball" Fri. Now, I'm waiting for our DW request for the ceremony to be confirmed by the RPTB, then we will book the rooms. If there's not a times slot for the days we're looking for, then we will look at the ROR. I would have gone with the ROR first, but we are going to the Sandals in Ochos Rios for our honeymoon so we figured we would stay in different areas, since we will be in Jamaica for 2 weeks.
  3. Can't wait to see your pics! We are awaitng a confirmation for our chosen date/time for RPTB in August! This review puts me alittle more at ease with waiting. How long did it take someone from the resort to get back to you when you placed a request for your day?
  4. Hey girls! I'm nervously and anxiously awaiting a call back from the Riu Tropical Bay to confirm my wedding request date for August. The request was placed on Friday 4-17-09. How long has it taken someone to respond back from the Riu for those of you that are booked already? Our options are to have our wedding either Fri or Sat durring our stay and book either the Riu Tropical Bay or Riu Ochos Rios. The initial request was placed for the Tropical Bay.
  5. Curious? How much is the guest pass....50or 100?? I didn't even think about that. Thank for all the great info!!!
  6. Jenamie..... Thank you for that post! I mean it. I just had a similar meltdown with my dad and needed to read something like that. We weren't going to have a jack and jill party, but looks like we are in May to use the cash towards are Jamaica wedding. I've never asked for much and my sister got everything.... younger sister. Now I wished I was a whiny baby too!! Cause now it's time for something important for me....my DW and noone can "step up to the plate". Her one day ridiculous event was more than what i'm asking for 2 weeks in Jamaica and even with the help of my FI's dad paying half of it. OK, i'm done ranting too...
  7. Yeah that sounds great.... to meet up! Did you contact Brian by email or my phone? That price is reasonable, I think and you get so many pics to choose from. Thanks for the info.
  8. Congrats! Too bad you weren't going on the day we are arriving. we will be changing resorts from Riu Tropical Bay near Negril, so we are looking at about a 1 1/2 or so ride to Sandals. By the time we arrive and check into our room, I don't think there would be enough time to get all dressed up again and go 2 the Falls. His pics are great, though. I've looked at his portfolio before quickly.... very nice work. How many printed pics. do you get in the package you chose? If you don't mind me asking? I'm just so excited that we have FINALLY!! chosen our resorts. Today I get the "joy" (not really) of talking to my dad about prices, etc... lol We chose and bought both of our wedding bands this past Sunday and I'll begin my quest for a dress next Monday at David's Bridal! Woohoo!! I found one dress that I absolutely love, but my luck it will prob.not look right when i try it on.
  9. My FI and I will be arriving at Sandals Ochos Rios 8/10/09- 8/17/09. We will be having our ceremony the week before at the Riu Tropical Bay( because we have 2 kids comming) and the changing resorts when our guests leave. I am also looking for a photographer to do a TTD pic at the Dunns Falls, etc... while we are at Sandals. If you find anyone let me know and I will too. If it's better, maybe we can coordinate and have a longer session time at split the photographer costs? Just an idea. I've read about some girls doing this to keep the costs down if it's crazy. But, either way keep in touch and Congrats!!
  10. How cute! What a great idea to have everyone involved in making the outfit. I have my 8 yr old and a 1 year old going. It's so hard to find something small enough for the 1 yr old, but you make it look so easy to do! I'll have to try something like that for them. Thax for the idea!
  11. We have finally.....woohoo!!!!..... chosen the Riu Tropical Bay to have our DW at and stay 1 week. When our guests leave, we will then change resorts for our honeymoon. My FI and I have finally narrowed it down between Sandals Ochos Rios and Sandals Royal Carribean Private Island. Does anyone have any suggestions from a recent stay in 2008 or 2009?? Thank You all in advance.
  12. Congrats! What a relief you must feel now..... We are going to book thru a TA this Fri! I can't wait. I'll be less stressed and can focus on dress shoppin, etc
  13. Thanks for your help! Unfortunately I"M the photo savy person in the group which doesn't help me to photgraph me! lol So, i'll be searching for something reasonable for a TTD session. That's one of the most important things for me....the photos. But, i don't want to go too crazy. 10-20 pics possibly. Thank You!
  14. Glad you had a good trip! Thanks for the review/ info. I can't wait to book our DW and soon! Then i will rest a bit easier. lol We are ordering our wedding bands this weekend from the jeweler.....sized and inscribed. I'm a teacher, so on my April vaca. from school i'll go dress shopping and we're almost done! It's just the whole DW thing is all contingent on one another, but once you initialy pick the place and the resort and book it to see what time are available, it can be done in within the hour. Can't wait!
  15. ROR is one of my top choices to book our upcomming August 2009wedding! I just love the idea of a TTD session and was wondering, if anyone would like to share the type of TTD package they got and/ or price if that's ok. I have no idea of what to expect as in a dollar amount for that sort of thing.
  16. I was wondering what the location looks like now. Did you happen to see where weddings can be held? We are planning on going to Jamaica this August for our DW and I would like to get married on/near the beach. We haven't chosen a resort yet. What about the "night life" and other offered activities on the property? We are active and will go on a few excursions, but for those days we would like to just hang at the hotel, what did you notice? Also, what type of crowd ?: I'm 34 and my FI is 28(not in spirit!) lol and we will have our parents, each a friend couple, and my 8 year old with us. Last, is there a strong "time share" pitch going on there? We just came back from the Dominican Republic, and where we stayed they had one and i found it to be soooo annoying! Any pics to share? Sorry about so many?'s but i'm very anxious to book something within the next week! Can you tell? Thank You!!!
  17. No, I haven't heard anything back yet from anyone. Hard to believe that no one's been there because the site looks so beautiful! I'm bringing my 8 year old and then she's going back with my sister, so we may stay there after the actual wedding. Our DW party is small.....9 people who are staying 4 days and we are staying for 2 weeks, so we don't mind changing resorts one time. I'm considering either the Rui or Beeches for the ceremony because of the child thing. I'm going to be meeting with a TA this Sat to get more info, so I'll def. be in touch to share it with you!
  18. Finally!! someone that's going to the Caves We are def. looking into staying there at least for a portion of our 2 week DW stay this August. It looks so amazing in the pics i've seen on trip advisor, etc.... I look foward to reading your possible review of it. I'm also a little worried of the weather and humidity in my planning for our ceremony in August, also. Good luck with your planning!!

  20. Has anyone either gone or have any information abou the "Caves"? We're planning on getting married in August 2009 and have yet to narrow it down to a particular resort. I found some pics. on trip advisor and the views look amazing, but i wanted to talk with someone that was there first hand. We plan to be spending 2weeks total, so if anyone had any other suggestions on a DW please help!! I would be ok with splitting the time between resorts for the DW and Honeymoon. My daughter, 8years old, will be attending the wedding portion for 3 days and then flying back with my sister....so that may limit us for the DW part. Other than that, we have a very small party attending.... 6 adults and us.

Do you have any info about the Beaches packages? I will be traveling with my daughter who's 8, but she will be flying back with family and we will be staying wherever for 1-2 weeks. We haven't chosen a location yet, but are considering Jamaica.
  22. We are planning to get married in August of 2009. We are from Massachusetts. We haven't decided on a location yet and are open to hearing any and all ideas. We know that we don't want Mexico and we just got back from the Dominican....but anything else we would love to hear about. I think that I like the idea of an all inclusive Sandals, Beaches, Breezes, etc... Can anyone share or compare them? We are active people, but also like to relax by the pool/beach. We want a place that has alot of options/ activities to choose from at the resort. We stayed recently at the Ocean Blue&Sand in the Dominican and I didn't really like to be honest. It was nice and clean, but the staff was extremely annoying around the resort. They would try to constanstly push selling time shares on you and walk around the pool trying to sell you pic. with animals that they had or "special"photo opts, excursions. I def. don't want this on my wedding day!! My feeling is, if I want to book something, I will know where to do so and I will come to you. I look foward to hearing from you all!! I'm anxious to book something and soon.
  23. Hello Jennifer! I'm very interested in the idea of a wedding at a Sandals location. We are wanting to get married in August 2009, but haven't chosen a location as of yet. We know that we don't want Mexico, though. Also, we just came back from the Dominican, so we would like something different. I'm just concerned about the weather patterns that time of year, but I'm a teacher so it's more practical. We live in Massachusetts, but close to the Connecticut border so we will be leaving out of Hartford (Boston if it's cheaper). We like the idea of an all inclusive. I have a daughter that is 8 that will be traveling with us and possibly his daughter, who will be 1 1/2 by summer, so I'm also looking into your "family" resort also. They would be staying for 3 days and flying back with family. It would be OK with us to all stay at the "family" resort, then after the ceremony go to Sandals. OR As long as everyone, including the kids (just for the ceremony) could "guest"....we could stay at Sandals the whole time OR stay at the "family" resort the entire stay. We are open to suggestions and pricing. There will be 7 adults and 2 kids attending...4 rooms....for 3 days. We would like to stay for 1 week or possible up to 2 weeks. For 3 of the adults.... we would be paying for their air also (and 2 rooms), and for the 2 of us. The other 4 adults, we would be paying for just the hotel (2 rooms), unless there was a good package including their flights. I'm so confused right now. I just want to be able to decide on a location and then begin discussing specials, pricing, etc.... I would like to put a deposit down within the next few weeks. I would def. feel alot better. It's like everything is truely contigent on another.... can't set a date without a place....without a location....and so on. Jessie and I are easy going and just want to keep things simple. We are open to suggestions of any kind. Hopefully you can help! He's been married before....and I haven't, so we just want everything to be nice and done tastefully. Thankyou Jennie
  24. Im getting married in August too!! We haven't decided on a location yet, but 'm real interested in Sandals and Breezes packages. It just depends on if my daughter( and his (2) will be going or not.
