  1. I agree with everyone. What a unique idea to add the feathers! Keep in touch. July will be here soon enough for your DW. I can't wait until we're there at the RPTB in August. It's comming up very fast.
  2. It looks really nice, but probably is pricey as nice things usually are, right. It's beautiful though.
  3. Keneika is the Wc that i've been planning all of my DW details with at the RPTB, also. She responds to all of my questions in a timely manner. I'm very pleased with her. She's been so on top of things..... unlike my TA who i could strangle right about now! lol Good luck to everyone!
  4. Welcome and enjoy the great tips! We just came back from a trip to DR in Jan. It was nice. You'll enjoy it there.
  5. Hello Ladies! Let's see if anyone can help me with a question: I'm having my DW at RPTB this August. We are having TTD pics taken the following week and are paying $800 for our package with an outside photographer, which i'm pleased with. I do want a small amount of pictures taken at our actual ceremony, first dance, and cake cutting. I'm interested in having just about 10-15 pics. When I emailed the WC at RPTB, she told me that their photoshop doesn't have a website yet, but that she would have them snail mail me a disc of their work. She also told me that the smallest package that they did was $270 for 24 pics. I thought that all the Riu's used the same photoshop contract. When I used the BDW search, I found a link to the ROR photoshop and saw that their was a pic price for just 10 photos. So, does anyone have any input? I got the list from the WC from RPTB, but it doesn't match the other Riu's. Is it because it's a Palace and not just a Riu? I would think that all the Riu's would be the same. Please Help.
  6. We are bringing our own ceremony music for the beach wedding. That's def. an idea: we could just have our first dance after the ceremony. The sun should be going down around that time. Thanks for the suggestion.
  7. Hello ladies! We have chosen to go with the Classic package at RPTB and will have our dinner at the Steakhouse after our ceremony. The WC told me in an email that we couldn't have an IPOD dock inside the Steakhouse because we have a small amount of people (6) and there would be other people eating. I don't really think that people would mind if we played one song after the cake cutting. Who would? But, do you think we should try to "sneak" it anyways and chance not being able to? Where are you or have you had your first dance? I have heard that RPTB isn't really a resort with night life and we don't have the money for renting a disco or a poolside reception after dinner...besides, it would be silly with 6 of us. So, any suggestions anyone? I was possibly thinking that we could set up our IPOD Dock near the pool after dinner near one of the bars outside. I don't know. I'm kinda at a loss with this one and it is one of the very few things that is important to me. This and the pics. That's all, so please help if you can.
  8. We are planning on the zip line, Dunns River Falls, and horseback riding for Ochos Rios. Rick cafe, river tubing(with my 8 year old), Jungle club(night before wedding i& it's Thurs./ladies night), and checking out either the Mayfield/Y Falls. Also, keep in mind there are things that you can also book on the grounds of your resort. I scheduled a "surprise" massage at the RPTB beach hut for my FI @ 10am-11am on our wedding day. This will keep him off the swim up bar for a bit before our 4pm ceremony! lol My evil plan. Then he can hit the buffet for lunch and shower/change. When we are at the Sandals Ochos Rios, I want to plan a dinner on the beach for the night before we leave Jamaica. Maybe you could do a couple's massage on the beach the day after your DW? I contacted my travel vendor, Travel Impressions, and they are having a 50%off excursions through Chukka Tours for the zip lines and river tubing. So, maybe get ahold of your vendor and see if they're offering anything for a discount. Good luck planning! Great ideas.
  9. Thank You for the great info! Now I have to decide if that's something I want to do with Jessie and I alone the day before our guests arrive or with our guests. Hmmm Do you by chance remember if you buy the packages before you get there or when you get there at Rick's Cafe? Thanks for the tip on the taxi.
  10. I don't know if the same for most places, but when I went to Cancun last year and the Dominican this year, you could purchase a ticket at the resort for a bit higher price, but it included unlimited drinks at the club you were going to. Anyone if it's like that there? We are staying at the RPTB and having our DW on a Fri night, so that's good to hear that the club is good on Thurs. night! He hates clubs and likes small bars, but I'm going like it or not. I used to play out with a freind's band and feen for it sometimes. Besides, it's my "last night" of singlehood. lol If it's a local/tourist club, then the drinks will prob. be a bit higher if the admission is free for ladies night. But, I would imagine it's reasonably priced. I looked on their site too. It looks like a good time.
  11. I'm so sorry you have to go through this so close to leaving for your DW. I agree with Chantelle, I would ask to be compensated for the difference in price. I unfortunately had gone through a similar situation with my own TA. I argued until they did a comp at their expense to our honeymoon booking for the monetary difference. You could have booked anywhere online and received that package pricing yourself. There's NO excuse for there to be that much of a difference. My daughter has a different last name and our TA placed a wrong name with hers on the plane ticket! She's traveling down with our guests, so good thing i noticed that it didn't match her passport. Double check everything. I know you don't want to babysit someone that's not doing their job, but just make sure everythings correct. I've been dealing with the WC from the actual resort by myself and it's gone so much better. Just take the TA out of the loop and go above her to her supervisor or talk to the vendor rep. that's at the resort instead. Soon, you'll be far away from all of this and it won't matter. Once you step onto the plane your worries will be gone. Try to relax and enjoy each other.
  12. Great ideas ladies! I'm starting to buy things for our trip and starting to arrange things to one side of the bedroom for packing. 8 weeks to go, but it seems to be going qickly. Love the shoe organizer idea. Must have the IPOD dock, loufa and water shoes(kayaking and for the falls). Also, I noticed that when we went to the Dominican in Jan. alot of people were purchasing water rafts/balls, etc from the gift store to use in the pool(for a crazy high price of course), so I already purchased a few rafts to throw into our siutcases to use in the pool at RPTB and Sandals(we have a private pool villa). It was perfect to just lounge around and float on. The ball we just hit around and made afew new friend for an inprompt to "volleyball". You get bored sometimes inside the pool.
  13. I'll have to google Mayfield falls when I log off! We are staying in Negril for our DW and when our guests leave, we are going to Sandals Ochos Rios. So, we will wait to go to Dunns Falls when we are at Sandals, because it's closer. But, that will be cool if we can go somewhere closer in Negril with our guests! I def. wanna go to Ricks Cafe! Does anyone know what you have to do to reserve a cabana there? Do you do it when you get there, or can you do it ahead of time? Just wondering. I'm not sure yet if I want to do this with just my FI or with our guests( parents, my best friend and my 8 yr. old) I would want to do it well before dinnertime/ sunset to be able to enjoy the music and atmosphere (and drinks). I know they have "the wild thing" catamaran, etc... that goes there in a tour. Did anyone go in a taxi, etc or do it as part of a tour? We're staying at the Riu Palace Tropical Bay.
  14. Any past brides out there that can answer me whether or not the resorts will allow you to sprinkle rose/flower petals on the sand? I didn't know just how strict they were. We are getting married in Jamaica. I guess I could ask the WC in an email.
  15. I think it's cute. Sometimes we have to give in to something to make them feel included (and to keep them away from imput on other things)lol. No one will really care about what's on the top of your cake. If anything, i have to agree with the rest, it'll be a bit of a conversation piece.
  16. Thanks! I will have to email them and cross my fingers. If not, then I will post what they tell me and see if anyone would like to go in on an order with me!
  17. I'm also doing fushia and coral/ orange. My daughter(8yrs.) is having a coral dress, the table runners are coral, the chair sashes are coral. My flowers are fushia and white that are offered as a part of our wedding package and I will add a few coral colored ones on my own. The ribbon that wraps the bouquet is fushia and I will add our personalized ribbon with our names and date of DW to it. My TTD Bouquet is natural touch flowers coral/fushia. I haven't gotten much further than that.
  18. Jenny K: I just love the bottom cake photo that you have posted above. Maybe i'll ask if we could have just a small 2nd tier added to our cake. I'm sure with all of the dancing/drinking, etc... the cake will be eaten by all
  19. We are sticking to the basic cake that is provided by our resort RPTB in Jamaica. I emailed our WC and she confirmed that I could bring my cake topper and just decorate it with fresh flowers, etc... Michael's craft store or AC More has a decorating aisle just full of things you could use to "dress up" your cake. I told her that I don't want our names on it, as I have seen some resorts do. I want it to resemble a traditional cake, even though it will be just 1 tier because of the amount of poeple comming to Jamaica (7). I just want something special that we can celebrate and do our cake cutting with.
  20. Wow, I've been so busy trying to plan and book everything that I hadn't even thought about a centerpiece for our dinner reception! I love the pics and ideas you ladies have posted. They are all a big help in getting ideas. I really like the idea of drowning flowers with some "bling" accents on them and have votives surrounding the centerpice. I also love the idea of placing sand in a hurricane glass and placing shells/starfish inside or doing the same in another type of a glass and placing a glass on top that you could light a floating rose candle in. I'll have to add this to the list of items to lug down with us! Happy planning!
  21. I love the idae of a Lock & Key being given the night before and then having the box, etc containing it delivered to him on your wedding day. All of your comment and ideas are really helpful, ladies.
  22. I'm in the same situation as Michelle. My "little girl" is 8 1/2 and I have to agree that as much as I wanted to put her into a typical flower girl dress... it just looked silly for her age. I found a very nice dress for her to wear that's age appropriate for her. But, she too thinks of herself as being the flower girl. I don't think that they know exactly what a junior brides maid is. lol So be it: she's our flower girl. We are a bit untraditional also: his father & fiance, my best friend, my father, and my daughter/possibly his daughter(if the mother stops being a b*tch!). Just remember that it's YOUR day. Just try to relax! Everything will come together. In the end, does it really matter who is what and how they walk down to be seated and view the ceremony? Just try to stay focused and concentrate on you and your to-be-husband. Good Luck and Congrats.
  23. I too had to laugh at the boots. Only because I have a pair of all black ones also. lol The first time that my Fi had seen them is when he moved in and was like: What are those for? lol I used to sing with my friend's band.... so whatever. I totaly forgot about them ubntil I saw yours! I'll have to remember to bring them to my BD session. Your outfits looks great. I'm certain your FI will love them when he see the pics.
