  1. Hey..I'm in the same boat...well your ahead of me because I can't decide on a resort lol! Did you have any problems getting the day you wanted? But we wanted to get married this year....good luck with everything. Like someone already said, this forum is very helpful..and addicting too:)
  2. Congrat on being a MRS now! Are you going to write a review? I'm still tring to decide on a destination...what made you decide Puerto Plata over other cities in the Dominican? Thanks for your help and btw I love the pic you have up:)
  3. I have been to Breezes 6 times in the past 10 years ( 3 times in the past 2 yrs) My most recent visit was last September and to be honest, I was dissapointed. The front desk staff was not very nice and the bartenders were hit or miss (attitude wise). I always have fun with the bartenders and some of them are excellent..they remember me from past visits and we joke and laugh when I'm there. Also the entertainment staff is pretty fun. If you are looking for a basic hotel that is inexpensive then you will be fine here. It's all about the attiude you go there with. Obviously you aren't paying five star prices so you wont get 5 star service or quality in rooms or food. The food is good there and the drinks are flowing. They have two sit down restaurants plus a buffet and poolside grill. At night there is the house band (Funky D and Summer Breeze Band) and some type of a show..nothing fancy but fun. I love the band and Funky D gets you up dancing, etc. There is also a disco there that is hit or miss. Last time there was a big group of locals there who overtook the hotel which was a little upsetting but we didn't let it affect us. I have seen some brides walking around but never witnessed a wedding there. The hotel rooms are basic but clean. They have redone the bathrooms in them which are nice...no tub, only shower. I like to go there for a cheap getaway and I have made friends with some of the staff there since I have been so many times. I always have a great time and I love getting invloved and earning "tokens" to cash in at the end of my trip for souvenirs. Oh and if you go, you have to try the trapeze:) All in all, its a good resort but I personally want something a little nicer for my wedding...if you have any other questions, let me know...
  4. Hilary, Picking the right hotel is difficult...I'm still in that stage lol...it all depends on what type of hotel you are looking for and how much you want you or your guests to spend. BRB is farely inexpensive and the hotel is not enormous like the ROR. It is more intimate and you would be able to see your guests daily. Never stayed at BRB but I did stay at Breezes Bahamas. The staff at that hotel said BRB was nicer and hopefully the service is better:) They have a great entertainment staff at Breezes which makes your day lots of fun! It is nice that they sent you that wedding info so fast! Keep me informed and let me know what you decide. I was originally thinking BRB but am leaning towards the new Iberostar in Montego Bay now Good luck!
  5. Thanks for the great review! You seemed to have a great attitude throughout the whole process. The cake pic made me laugh after reading your review lol Congrats!
  6. Congrats and thanks for such an awesome and detailed review! I have a couple of questions for you...did you get a chance to see the property of the newly opened Rose Hall Grand? I was thinking the Grand because its adults only. We wont have any kids in attendance, so I prefer an adults only resort. Also, how many guests attended your wedding? We won't have that many so I am not sure if I want to pay the extra money for a wedding...I could have it at Sandals or Breezes RB for free...what are your thoughts on this? I did stay at the Iberostar in Mexico and loved it. Thanks again for all of your insight...would love to see your photos but I don't know either how to post them on here...
  7. I love that album idea too! Please share more info if you have it..where to buy them, etc
  8. They might be getting rid of the pier? That stinks! I thought it was soo pretty. It'd be a shame if they do. I heard the Sheraton on Cable Beach underwent some renovations so it should be pretty nice...
  9. Hi there...I can't offer much info but I will tell you what I know. I have stayed at Breezes Bahamas many times but since we knew we were getting married sometime this year, we toured Sandals last time we were in Bahamas (Sept 200. The resort is nice and has several places you can married. We really liked the pier. I guess normally it is used for massages but you can pay a little extra to use it for your wedding. They can also put chairs along the walkway to make it be like an "aisle." Also, my friend got married there a couple years ago and they loved their pics that Sandals provided. She got married in their garden gazebo. However, they may have changed photographers since then. We did go into the photoshop while we visited the property and looked at many beautiful pics. It was only my friend and her hubby there when they got married, so I can't help with that extra cost question. They (Sandals) did tell me that my guests would have to pay $100 extra which I agree is a little pricey but most hotels do that. I spoke with Cara (wedding coordinator) while we were there and she was soo nice. We even watched (from a distance) a couple who had eloped get married on the pier:) We also saw several rooms which looked very nice. Like I said, we didn't stay there and only toured so I am telling you what I saw and what my friend has told me. I love the Bahamas but think I am going to get married in Jamaica since I have never been there before. Good luck with everything! Where are the rest of your guest staying?

  11. I just learned that the Iberostar Grand Rose Hall opened in January and it sounds fantastic! Does anyone have any info on that hotel? Like others on this thread, I have stayed at the Iberostar in Riviera Maya and it was wonderful. We preferred to have our DW where it was adults only so thats why I havent considered regular Rose Hall or the suites. Ther price isn't bad for the Grande either but through my research (limited since it just opened), I have found you have to pay for everything for your wedding so that would affect things. We are only doing something small with 20 guests max total...anyone have any comments or suggestions about this? Otherwise, we may be doing Breezes RB or Sandals. Oh and Phillygal...most of my guests would be coming from Philly lol.
  12. Hi everyone...new to this as well! We are getting married this summer in Jamaica and are leaning towards Breezes Runaway Bay...no set date yet as it will only be us and maybe a few friends. Nothing is definite yet so any info or suggestions are appreciated! Looking at Sandals also...Negril or Whitehouse. Thanks, Mel
