  1. i agree...my FI have actually already spoken about this. i told him i would like to have some time for us to be "off" of it. we just haven't agreed on how much time yet. we're also not sleeping in the same room when we get to the resort until the wedding nite. i think it's a lot more exciting that way. i ahven't thought of the whole "self gratifcation" idea though...lol. thats kind of funny! i think my FI would kill me if i add that "rule!"

  3. i have been in communication with Debra as well. i'm getting a little frustrated with her becasue i asked her for pictures to get an idea of her worj. she referred me facebook and look there. i searched for her, but there are so many people under that name i'm not sure which is her page. i asked her to send me the link to make sure i get the right person and i told her that i may have to request her as a friend if she has her page setup as private and she responded back by saying - yes you do have to request me, so do so. but which is your page!! if anyone gets any sample pictures of her or knows her facebook page link...plz share!

  6. i emailed her too, but have not heatd back yet. he work is amazing!! i emailed jamaicas queen bee and she said if you want airbrush makeup its $70. if you want regular its $45. i havent seen any picyures of her work though.
  7. does anyone know of a reliable, experienced and good makeup artist in Jamaica? perferably in the Negril area. i need one for my August wedding. i honestly don't trust the resorts makeup option. i'd ratehr have someone else come to me. any suggestions and contacts are much appreciated!

  10. i got mine from paperdirect.com. they were pretty cheap i think it was like $15 for 25 of them and they were self adhesive and included the strings.

  12. although it might be too late - u can try taking the 72 hr pills. its almost a double dose of ur regular pills. but it does stop the ovulation. if u've gotten ur period already i wouldn't worry though.
  13. i didn't ask her about the dj's playing list. i assume he wouldn't care. i mean i need him to play certain musci bb/c both of our families are hispanic and i know the dj is not going to know what kind of music to play to keep us going. i plan to give him a play list. are u not planning on renting the steakhouse for a private reception or r u doing the semi-private reception?

Hi ladies, i see that alot of us plan to do a AHR. i plan on doing one too. i have a question...is it proper to wear ur wedding dress for the AHR? originally i wanted to do that, but when i told my sister she told me that was the whole point of teh wedding in Jamaica. she said ppl are traveling thousands of miles to see me in my wedding dress and that i should think of it as some sort of exclusivity for those ppl who actually traveled to teh wedding. i agree with her, but now i'm 2nd guessing it! what do u all think?
  17. o ok....it's very close! our ceremony's at 4pm. i agree..i don't really feel like spending a couple of hundred dollars on liqour thats already being paid for! i think that Dionne offered that to us because i got my TA involved. we began to pester her and my TA was telling her it was a bit ridiculous to have us pay for food when all we wanted was to have a private dinner at the restaurant. my TA was asking her why they are asking for so much money. i guess that helped! well...let me know what Dionne says once you get ahold of her to rent the Disco and how much she wants to charge you for the food...if any. keep me posted! are you bringing your own ceterpieces or are you just doing away with them?
  18. i bought mine from oriental trading. just search for gable boxes. they cost $4.99 for 6 boxes. (although lil_miss_frogg found a better deal!) i should be getting them this week. i'll let you know how they are.
  19. by the way...those menu's i emailed u r usually used for pool side dinners or beach dinners. since you plan 2 use the restaurant...the foods already included.
  20. my FI and i have decided to pay for the 2 hr private dinner and then rent the disco for the other 2 hrs. i havent told Dionne that yet b/c we decided that last nite. but she did tell us we have it all 2 ourselves until 11pm. then it's open to the public...which i'm totally okay with! what do u plan 2 do for a cocktail hr. my FI doesn't wanna do anything. he'd rather just tell ppl meet us 4 dinner @ such and such time and thats it. i guess i'm ok with that. just curious 2 know what u plan 2 do... when is ur wedding date anyway?

I'm doing my wedding at the RIU NEgril Clubhotel and i was orginally going to bring my photographer from home but that feel through. they said if he was a guest at the resort then it was fine. now i hired a local Jamaican photographer and i just have to pay a day pass. all this is according to the hotel WC.
  22. jamaicabride...i wanted to keep you updated on my conversation with Dionne. i got my TA involved and i think we have come up with a great option. Dionne has honored the rental for the private area at shadows to cost $500 for 2 hrs and $1000 for 4 hrs. that includes the food that shadow already offers as a sit down dinner. the difference is we will have the area to ourselves. which i love! that also includes red and white wine with a bartender for the first 2 hrs. after that...we do still get red and white wine (i think) but we wouldn't have anyone to serve our guests. we'd pretty much be on our own at that point. my FI and i wanted to just have an IPod playing, but we would need a system to play the music. Dionne said they do not have a system included in that cost but if we wanted to rent one it was $300 but that does not include a DJ. i did the calculation and for $30 more we can just rent a DJ. so basically if we rent the lower level of shadows for 4 hrs we would be looking at ... $1000 rental of provate area $600 hiring a bartender for the last 2 hrs ($12 pp) $300 renting a music system or we can have.... $500 2 hr rental of private area of lower level @ shadows $300 2 hr rental of disco which includes DJ and bartender & mixed drinks $250 private cocktail hr for 50 guests (only includes beer and wine) let me know if you need any more help!
