i believe the RIU Negril can accomodate that amount of guests, but i'm pretty sure Tropical Bay does. here's some helpful information. it also has contact information for RIU Negril, Tropical Bay and Montego Bay. hope that helps! (and i hope that worked - first time i attach something! ) S4. Example Optional Services 2008.pdf S3. Weddings by Riu. General Information for Jamaica 2008.pdf

I emailed her about a week ago for certain things, but she hadn't responded, and so I just sent another quick one. From what I have seen/read on other reviews and sites, she can take a while to respond!? I am going through a travel agent as well, and she also told me this about her. Are you guys doing colors, or bringing colored table cloths or anything for the reception, or just going with what they have? I look forward to talking with you more !! (Now I"M the cornball, LOL) i'm glad we helped somebody! it was really hard to find answers for the RIU Negril. alot of people have gone for the otehr resorts - but not becasue RIU is bad. i have actually been to the Tropical Bay one in Jamaica and it was the best vaacation ever! my FI and i say - if it's not broken then why fix it! i hope you have a clearer picture now. if you have any more questions...you know where to find us! now you have 3 brides who would have gone before you!

WOW...JanJan84 that is such a coincidence!! my FI and i are arriving to Jamaica on 8/11. you probably were the 1 who took my date!!! LOL...we had originally booked 8/15 at the Tropical Bay RIU, but becasue the RIU was a little less expensive for our guests we decided to switch. we had already sent out our save the dates with the 8/15 date and wanted to try to keep it the same...but SOMEBODY already had it! j/k. we should definetly try to meet up! and your from Brooklyn! i live in the Bronx. i'm really glad Dionne told me about that option. it kind of took a lot to get it out of her. i guess she obviously wants to offer the more expensive option first. although i didn't think the $1000 for 4 hours was too steep. let me know if you have any other questions!

well my hometown is actually Dominican Republic. im getting married in Jamaica just to be somewhere differnt then where my family and i usually go to - and i wanted a neutral place since my FI's not Dominican. i think every country has it's dangers, depending on area you visit. as far as what i find dangerous in DR - the poor areas are pretty much always a danger. my family never lets go to those areas unless i am accompanied by a local. once they see that you are a tourist - you are a target. mosquitos are also always a big issue for me. but thats becasue i have very sensitive skin. either way i would tell your guests to stock up on bug repellent. also, be careful with the resort you do choose. there was a resort i went to in DR that had a different species of mosquitos. they gave me bigger bumps and more allergies. my bites were even infected! apparently they were mosiquitos that bite animals...weird! that resort was in La Romana - i can't remember the name of the resort though. good luck! if you have any questions please ask!

Things to do in or close to Negril

There's a guy nicknamed Tony Montana that hangs around Margaritaville, and we paid him about $40 to jet-ski for 1/2 hour. They called us back in after only 15 minutes...we had proof with the time stamps on the camera, but didn't get money back or more time on the jet-ski. 2. renting a scooter to jet around the west end - this was most excellent. Saves money on cabs, and you really haven't lived until you zipped around behind your husband on the left side of the road, honking like your life depends on it, after dark and in a foreign country. 3. Zipline - we didn't get a chance to do this, but we had 14 guests take a trip to do it. They seemed to have a blast, and the pictures are pretty fun. 4. YS Falls - This was absolutely gorgeous. The drive to the falls takes you through the countryside to see 'real' Jamaica. And the falls ($18/person) were stunningly beautiful. We definitely felt like we were in the rainforest/jungle, and they had a really nice park to go with the falls. 5. Appleton Rum Factory tour - This was also a good time, especially for my husband. A little expensive, but they have open tasting at the end of the tour. The peacocks on the grounds are gorgeous. Let me know if you have any questions about the activities! chickadee024 - did your guests tell you about how much the zipline cost them? who did they do it with? i'm also interested in knowing the cost of renting the scooter (and the length for the rental) and the cost for visiting the Appleton Rum Factory. thanks! -
Real vs. Fake flowers- your opinions?

hmmmm, i never even thought of this. i'm going to look into it. seems like a good idea! -
you're not being selfish. i had sort of a similar issue with one of my best friends. before my FI and i decided on a DW we asked all of our loved ones if they would come. she was 1 of the people who encourgaed me to go along with it. now she can't go. i was upset at first, but she's having financial issues and i told her that if things don't get better for her, not to worry. i wasn't going to get mad. and i'm not. i'm fine with it becasue she is actually still acting like a bridesmaid. she partcipates in everything and always asks me for herlp. she's just not available to be at the ceremony. to me, she will always be a bridesmaid in my wedding - becasue she was always there. on the other hand, if she wasn't giving me any support, i would have absolutely been upset and probably questioned our friendship! it's the one of the most important days of my life - she should be there!

no you're not crazy! the day of the wedding...i would so tell him "absolutely not!" but i don't see anything wrong with the day before. you hav eto remember that you are all also going to be on vacation and i think your guests will understand that too. and besides, it's the morning after most of your guests arrive.
