  1. I just bought this yesterday. It got great reviews and is only $45. Isaac Mizrahi for Target® Strapless Sheath Dress - Iggloo (White) : Target
  2. If it helps, I wanted to try on a Maggie dress that my bridal shop didn't carry. They are VERY helpful at my salon and told me about a policy that Maggie Sottero has where they will send any dress in any size to the shop to be tried on. Only thing is you have to pay the shipping cost to send it there and back (was around $65.) If you buy it then that $ gets deducted from the price of the dress. You may want to ask about that. Again, my bridal salon is overly helpful and eager to make the sale, so maybe that's why they told me about doing that.
  3. I don't know if anyone else already found this... I love Tacori jewelry, but it is way too expensive for my budget. I found a collection they did on QVC that is very affordable (obviously not real diamonds.) Tacori for Epiphany® Collection — Jewelry — QVC.com
  4. I'm a Maggie Sottero bride. Her dresses are amazing. My dress is the Vernice. Vernice - by Maggie Sottero If it helps, it has a bra sewn into it for support, and a corset back. I'm a 38 DD and it holds me up just fine. I'm also getting mine tailored in to fit more like a mermaid style in the hip area. Check the site out. There are so many incredible dresses, and I know that a majority of us here are Maggie brides.
  5. OMG Katie! That's my bridesmaids dress! We are getting it in the Bahama Breeze color.
  6. I don't think it's rude at all. I told my guests last year. They had since March of 08, and my wedding isn't until October of 09, and I STILL only have 6 rooms booked. I almost feel like telling people closer to the date gets them more excited because they have something in the near future to look forward to. I am at the point that I am nagging people to get them to make their deposits. At least you won't have to do that! Plus, booking closer to the date usually saves you a ton of money. The hotel and airfare goes WAAAAAAAY down when you book so close to the date that you are leaving.
  7. Can I tell you how I saw this post a few weeks ago, and now I can't stop thinking about this dress! I already bought my dress (a Maggie as well,) but I want a dress for TTD. I think I'm going to buy something like that but really inexpensive from Davids, and get some organza fabric and make some flowers to sew on there are recreate this! I NEED this dress in my life! If anyone wants to sell theirs after their wedding let me know!
  8. You guys are so great! Thank you so much. You all really put my mind at ease. I was getting myself all anxious about adding these extra things to my list, and adding the extra money to the budget. I feel much better now!
  9. I feel like since I have joined this forum, I have added 9876543234567890 things to my list that I SHOULD be doing. When I chose to have a destination wedding, it was because we have such a small budget now that we just had a baby and bought a house, that I figured it would be more affordable and acted as the honeymoon as well. Now, I pretty much obsess over all the things that everyone is doing, and feel like I need to do them too. For example, I had never even heard of OOT bags before, or sending welcome packages prior to the cruise. I am not doing ceremony programs, STD's, invitations, or any of the other details. I am also seeing that people are having welcome parties and dinners also. I pretty much reserved a group of rooms, emailed the info to my immediate family and the friends that are attending, and that's about it. To keep everyone informed of the events and the cruise information, I posted it all to our wedding web page. Am I the only one out there that is keeping it so simple? Is this poor etiquette not to do all of the above? If it helps, my wedding is in Bermuda, and we are arriving via cruise ship. We will be having a ceremony on the beach, followed by a cocktail reception, and then have dinner reserved back on the ship. Should I be doing much more?

  11. I don't know if this will help. But it was a color scheme I was considering... http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Pf8LziQNBz...00/collage.jpg I think you should do a coral color for flowers, since it is more of a muted pastel, like the lighter blue you are using. Plus...it incorporates your starfish, since they are the same coral color!
  12. Ok, so here's the deal. These are the girls' dresses.Jasmine Bridal in the Bahama Breeze color. My color scheme is aqua, chartreuse, and brown. I will either be going with this parasol... Chartreuse Green and White Swirl 33 Inch Rice Paper Parasol - CUGR or this one... Bamboo and Birds 33 Inch Rice Paper Parasol - CU37 Or I will do bouquets like this... http://www.perfectweddingguide.com/I...73ac_photo.jpg What do you like better? Parasols will save some money, but I only have 3 bridesmaids, so it's not really that much of a concern.
  13. I am in the same boat as you are! My dresses are aqua. But I wanted bright bouquets with orange, pink, etc. Then last minute decided I like the aqua, chartreuse, and brown color scheme. I am doing parasols instead of bouquets now. I found some that have all the colors. The other alternative is that I will do white and chartreuse flowers. I think you may also want to stick to white and green if you have the brown and blue already. Orange will work, but if its a brighter aqua, and not a pastel blue. I think Aqua, brown, and orange look great together. You said you are doing a starfish theme? So I imagine you have the light blue with the brown, in which case I would do only white and have them tied in blue ribbon.
  14. I love it. It's nice because it's something you can wear a lot after. My only concern is that it looks a little long. You may need to shorten the length, and you will lose the effect of the asymmetrical design.
  15. I am getting mixed feedback on the parasol idea. I think it's cute, and such a huge money saver. My problem is that I asked my friend what he thought, and he said it looks too "southern." What are your thoughts?
  16. Thank you all for the tips! I will see what I come up with. I know it sounds awful, but I am a fashion design student and should totally be able to make a veil no problem. But I am working on creating my collection right now, and I just don't have it in me to make ONE more thing. I am hating the sewing machine at the moment. I think I may check out ebay.
  17. I wanted to put this out there...I will be selling my dress after the wedding. It's a size 20. I'm a street size 14, but have "pregnancy boobs" from having my son, which caused me to need such a big size. I am hoping to lose weight and it will be taken in to whatever size I am in October (probably taken in to a street size 12.) If anyone is interested let me know so I don't put it on ebay or another site. My wedding is October 8th,09, and will sell when I get home. I paid $1200, probably looking for at least half of what I paid. Vernice - by Maggie Sottero
  18. I am looking for the same thing. I found this as my back up plan if I don't find anything better. It may work for you too. Isaac Mizrahi for Target® Strapless Sheath Dress - Iggloo (White) : Target
  19. I am having the same problem. If this helps, I found this at Target. Isaac Mizrahi for Target® Strapless Sheath Dress - Iggloo (White) : Target my back up plan if I don't find something better. Also...check out Davids Bridal outlet on their website. I found some dresses for $99 that would do. I'm going to drive over and check them out this week.
  20. I am not sure if I even want to wear a veil yet, but I want to have one just in case. I would hate to buy a new one if it ends up that I don't use it. I don't want to spend more than $50. Thanks!
  21. Hey everyone...I love Maggie gowns, and already purchased the Vernice. I am looking for a second dress for TTD. If any of you want to sell after your wedding, I am looking for Phillipa or any of her destination styles. I need size 16 or up. Thanks!
  22. Erin...I'm loving your pics. Soooo nice! Thats why I need to find a TTD dress! I am leaning more towards finding something that looks like one of the dresses I wanted instead of what I got. Probably a mermaid or trumpet fit. I bought the Maggie Sottero Vernice. Vernice - by Maggie Sottero But I am wishing that I got the Phillipa instead. Phillipa - by Maggie Sottero I would also really love an empire waist chiffon dress. Something breezy and beachy. If that doesn't happen, I will consider other styles too. I will let you know what happens. Thanks!
  23. I wish I could but we will only be on the island until 5 pm the next day, and I don't want to waste my last day on the island getting dressed up again and doing the pictures. Plus, I don't want to have to pay for the photographer twice.
  24. I already bought my gown, and don't want to get it wet and walk around the rest of the night all soaked. I am looking for another dress to change into just to do TTD pics. I love so many styles and designers, so I am open to anything. Please leave me the size and a picture if you have any. Thanks!
