  1. Oh I hope you're right. Right after I posted that thread I came across a post from Indigo saying that she couldn't have an outside photographer at RMB. I REALLY want to use my friends!
  2. Does anyone know the Riu allows outside photographers and videographers at your wedding? We have two friends/guests that do both and would much rather use them than anyone else. Any information on this would help! Thanks!
  3. Does anyone who hired a steel drum band at any of the Riu's (especially MoBay!) have an audio or video sample of them playing? And did you hire them through the hotel or outside?? We are thinking about hiring one for the welcome party. And while we are on that subject, does anyone know the options for having a welcome party on the beach....maybe like a bonfire type thing (after dinnertime) with either a steel drum band or just our ipod and speakers...and of course drinks?! Thanks!!
  4. Our wedding is at Rui MoBay by the way...but I'll take examples of trip itineraries from any of the Jamaica Riu's! I'm assuming they all pretty much operate the same!
  5. So we just decided that we are going to extend the invitation from just parents and siblings to our Aunts, Uncles, cousins and close friends which brings us to probably around 25-35 guests. With that being said, I am now feeling the pressure of having to set up things to do for everyone, i.e. a welcome party, a more private reception, etc. But we don't have the extra money to spend to provide these things (we weren't even going to upgrade anything for the actual wedding!). So I was just thinking that if we gave our guests an itinerary for the weekend that included just meeting for dinner at one of their restaurants one night, maybe all meeting up for one of the shows one night, maybe meeting at the disco another night...are these all acceptable and doable things? Will the restaurants take a reservation in advance for that many people? And can we still do the included dinner at one of the restaurants for our reception with that many people? HELP! Any insight on what I'm supposed to do with my guests would be much appreciated!!!
  6. Sloan - we only have about 16 people coming so we want to keep it really simple as well. We will just do dinner at the restaurant as well, maybe a simple bar thing after dinner. Are you doing anything like after dinner or are you just going to go out around the resort? When you bring your own flower, centerpieces, decorations, etc., do you mail everything to the resort/wedding coordinator beforehand or do you have to travel with all that stuff?
  7. Thanks! That's exciting both of your weddings are in March...so soon! I can't wait to hear your reviews on MoBay!
  8. My fiance's brother and sister-in-law will not know if they can make the trip until almost the end of 2009 (wedding in April 2010). Can they book it whenever they want? Or do I need a final count at a certain time before the wedding? And is there some kind of group discount with Riu if you book altogether? I know that 80% of the weddings guests have to stay at the Riu and I need 5 rooms for the "free" wedding but we should fine with those. Just curious to see if guests can book whenever they want and on their own??
  9. Thanks. Does anyone have the photographer pricing/packages for the onsite photographer...I keep hearing great things about Micheal.
  10. Haven't booked yet but already can't wait! It's soooo far from now! I'm jealous of all you 2009 brides! Jacqui & Chris April 2010 Wedding @ Riu MoBay Honeymoon @ Sandals MoBay
  11. It's funny that you answered me because when I was googling things to find reviews on RMB your blog came up (the one asking about RMB because you were nervous because it was so new and you couldn't find reviews either!) and that's how I found this site! And it's been so helpful already!
  12. Thanks...that helps. Did you choose to pay extra for centerpieces and flowers or can you get those included in the free package?
  13. Congrats! I'm glad you liked MoBay. I just joined this site and I've been searching everywhere for a MoBay review! I can't wait (long way to go though!). Question - do you pick the ceremony site, reception site, and flowers once you get down there and see everything or do you have to choose everything beforehand via emails and photos?
  14. Thanks alot! I am sooo looking forward to all your reviews! And congrats on the upcoming wedding. I wish mine was closer!
  15. misstrae, I have not booked it yet but we are thinking about getting married at the Riu MoBay in April 2010. I also am waiting for the 2010 packages to come out, hopefully they do not vary much from 09. But I think we are going to stick with the Free Package anyways and just upgrade a few little things. Do you get the cost and options for all the upgrades and add-ons in the 2010 wedding packet as well?
  16. Hi - I am new to this and still have plenty of time to plan (thinking of April 2010) but I am just about settled on Riu Montego Bay for our wedding (about 20 guests). It's so new though that I haven't found any reviews on it yet...all the Riu Ochos Rios and Negril reviews are great and very helpful. Any RMB brides yet??
