Thanks for your review... the cake is classic I can't wait to see your pro pics, we are thinking about a DT wedding... and photographers is one of the first things to do on my list! Did you pay for the photographer/asst to travel and stay the night? If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the photography total? I'm like you - I dont' really mind about details, but pics are a must! Thanks in advance!

Hey girls! Well we thought we had it all figured out... DT has awesome prices for us right now, but now that we've been researching we have a little bit of a problem (maybe not?). For those of you who have visited, is it really isolated? I mean are there things to do without traveling an hour or two away? I'm just worried my guests will be bored or that the ride from the airport will be too cumbersome! Thanks in advance!

Show me your garters!
jmb0902 replied to MsShelley's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
This is my garter and my "something blue". My FH is a diehard Irish fan... so this is perfect! I included the link to the site, there are TONS of garters, by color, by teams (pro and college)... they even have LED light garters, crazy! Let's Dance Garters -
Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that Michael's has some GREAT stuff right now in their bargain bins right now. I went two nights ago and got monogram folded cards 10/$1 (prob used them for thank yous), travel design playing cards $1, a "packing list" checklist for guests 40 sheets/$1, and tons of other stuff (there are luggage tags, that also have matching passport holders). Also, they have a whole aisle of DIY invites (the Martha Stewart ones are great). Just wanted to give an update for anyone looking to save now or for the future!!

Malaria risk in the DR???
jmb0902 replied to jmb0902's topic in Destination Weddings in Dominican Republic
Well, just to update from my original post... we decided NOT to have our wedding in the DR for these reasons. The deciding factors are that we will have a 2 month old with us (there are age restrictions on chloroquine), and other friends who will be pregnant (and not able to take certain meds either). We do however want to go on our own at some point.... it looks super fun and beautiful -

Amy706 DT Pro Pics: Citlalli Review
jmb0902 replied to amy706's topic in Destination Wedding Reviews
Amy- Your pics are the best, we just decided on Dreams Tulum... so I have a few questions for you! Because the resort has photography as part of all their packages, did you get any money back b/c you had your own? I haven't seen many TTD photos from Tulum, does anyone do that out there? Would the photographer you used do that? Thanks! -

I love your little cruise ship... so cute!

CONGRATS! You look beautiful Who was your photographer? If you don't mind me asking, how much did all that cost -
So after talking about doing our DW in the Dominican, my FH comes up with the CDC web site that says it is a risk area for malaria! This is exactly what the CDC traveler web site says: Malaria risk area in the Dominican Republic: Rural, with highest risk in provinces bordering Haiti. In addition, risk in all areas of La Altagracia Province, including resort areas. So I was thinking we'd be fine since we'd be in a resort... I'm WRONG apparently, because the La Altagracia province mentioned above is where PUNTA CANA is located! The suggestion by the CDC is of course to dose with chloroquine while visiting and see an MD who specializes in Travel Medicine. I wanted to see if any of you have found this, or have researched this at all? For those that have been, did you use prophylaxis or do anything differently? I'm not sure that the DR sounds too romantic anymore

Amount of ppl going - am I too sensitive??
jmb0902 replied to jmb0902's topic in Wedding Etiquette, Traditions, to dos
Thank you all sooooo much for your replies and advice... there is nothing like hearing from ppl in the exact situation as you - and especially hearing from those of you who have already gone through this and LOVED it just the same! I feel like there are certain expectations (from family members, friends, etc.) but the whole reason why we are doing a DW is to avoid those, but I was getting caught up in them. I literally have a cousin who texts me every other day asking if I've reconsidered my wedding location, and have I thought about this XYZ place (in the U.S. of course). I am SICK of it! Luckily my mom and my family is being the best about it - reminding me every so nicely that this mine and my FH's day, not anyone elses! -

When choosing to have a DW, I ran a little experiment on my girlfriend who was wondering why we could not just get married in Toronto. I asked her how many weddings she had attended in her lifetime. She said about 15. I asked her if she remembered all 15. She didn't, as a matter of fact, I think she recalled about 4of them and all of the details were fuzzy. She could not remember what she ate, what the BMs wore, what churches they were at, the names of the wedding couple,, etc. But I am sure the brides of those weddings remember! That is my point. Why have a wedding to please your guests and perhaps in 5 years and 5 weddings later, they won't even remember yours? As brides, we remember ALL of the details...our guests forget. We see the little things that our closest family and friends never see. Therefore, it is important to have the wedding you want to have. The memories of your wedding will be very special to you, long after guests forget. For my wedding, we prayed from the beginning that those who were supposed to be there would be. That means that we will not stress over the guest list...we are leaving it in God's hands. If someone cannot make it, we know God has it all under control. And when we are surprised by a booking, we leave that it God's hand too. We are trusting that who God intended to be there will be. A small guest list can be a blessing. WOW!! What a way to put in in perspective... I've never thought about it that way! I know that the ppl I need there, and who are most important to me will be there... and that is what is important! Thank you for your wise words!
