I've been able to get ours down to $1800/pp for a full week to the Riu in Cabo from Edmonton Canada. Very affordable for a week of all-inclusive if you ask me.

My FI and I own a commercial kitchen installation business. That's my 6:30am - noon job. From noon to 7:30pm I'm a competitive gymnastics coach and technical director. I'm looking foward to freedom 55!!!

Found my reception dress!
saltocoach replied to Virg's topic in Destination Wedding Dresses, Wedding Attire & rings
Love the dress and you gotta love winners! I know that I'm in that store at least once a week. Great purchase. -
After wiping the dust off of the case I decided to do the dvd today. I'm in pretty good shape...well at least I thought I was! This dvd kicked my butt! I mean, I was shaking so much afterwards and my legs and rear end are very sore now. The bad thing is that I have to do a boot camp with my bridal party tomorrow. I don't think I'll be able to walk! Please tell me it gets better?! If not....LIE to me!

Sunquest not flying to Cabo in October?
saltocoach replied to Natashak's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
We've booked a land only package for the rooms and went with West Jet for the flight. It got us in to Cabo earlier and was much cheaper than doing the Sunquest package. On top of that , the Sunquest package didn't leave from Edmonton which meant that we'd have to overnight it in Calgary. Not something I'd want all of my guests to do. Have your TA look into it more for you. -
Father Passed Away...Dance Partners/Song Ideas?
saltocoach replied to K'osh's topic in Wedding Music & Entertainment
You have my sympathies. My FI had lost his father when he was in his early 20's and my sister and I were orphaned by the age of 6. I can understand your predicament. We've opted out of having anyone walk us down the aisle. We'll go down alone. As for the father/daughter dance... won't be one! I'd rather have everyone dance in memory of those who were loved and lost. We will honor them in our speeches as well as photos and memory table. My advise is just do what feels right to you. As long as you're true to your heart you'll never be wrong. -

Alberta vs. Ontario...potentially move, opinions needed!!
saltocoach replied to CaboBride2010's topic in Random Thoughts
I was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Went to university in Toronto. Lived and worked in Pickering and Windsor. Moved to BC and worked in Williams Lake. Moved just north of New York. Went back to NS. Then went to Philly. Finally settled in Sherwood Park just east of Edmonton. I can honestly say that I always found something I liked about all of the cities I've lived in but I call Sherwood Park home. I love that the cost of living is so great here. I know that the home I have here I wouldn't have in any other place. One thing that does bug me is the fact that everything here is done at a slow pace. Fortunately, I am used to that after growing up on Cape Breton. Have to say though...after going back last year for a visit I don't think I'll EVER live there again. Just too small town for me. I like my privacy. -
Just do what I did before....drink some red wine and "spill" some on your dress. Problem solved! Just kidding! The dress isn't as bad as you think. The color is very nice.Oh... you do NOT look pregnant at all.

Real vs. Fake flowers- your opinions?
saltocoach replied to KJT1985's topic in Wedding Flowers, decoration, cake, etc.
I'm using Plumeria for my flowers and when I go the samples they looked so real that I atually smelled them! So did my BM's. I didn't tell them they were fake. After contacting the florists in Cabo I decided to save money and buy fake. I can't justify spending $150/ bouquet when I won't even get what I want due to the time of year. -

My MoH had her wedding last year in the Mayan Riviera so we decided not to tdo the Mayan. I went to my TA and she gave me a TON of suggestions and brochures. We took them home and started looking. The place we kept coming back to was Cabo. The next step was the site visit. Cabo was so different form the Mayan that I knew it was the place for us. Don't get me wrong...I love the tropical feel of the Mayan but I didn't want to "copy" my MoH. Also, Cabo Wabo was Mike's selling point. Typical guy.

Bonfire at the Riu Palace???
saltocoach replied to Peaches2010's topic in Destination Wedding in Cabo
I am a bonfire person. Heck, our back yard has a 15' roman circle with a firepit in the center of it. I do see why the Riu doesn't have bonfires though. When I was there last November for a site inspection it was soooo windy. I couldn't see how you could have a fire safely. Even if you had a grill cover for it there's always sparks and it would light up anything made of straw. In Mexico that's basically everything! There are so many great things at the Riu that I really don't think you'll miss one. I know we didn't! -
Galvanic Spa Cellulite MIRACLE!!!

I mean this product has been on CNN, the today show, Ellen and so many other shows. They obviously believe in the product or they wouldn't showcase it on their show! Believe me you won't regret the decision! You are in Edmonton? Where did you get the product from? Do you have to order online or is it sold in stores? I'm in the process of pricing out restalyn and botox so this may work out to be a less expensive solution. -
If you have a good TA like I do they can come up with a few options for you. My sister is also coming from Halifax to Cabo and my TA gave her 2 great options. One was a quick West Jet connection to TO from Halifax then a charter to Cabo. The second one was about $200 - $300 cheaper. My TA did a land only rate for the hotel and then put a flight together for them. That way they could choose when they departed insead of having the charter dictate. Of course, you do have a longer flight and you have to arrange your own transfer to the hotel but it'll still be cheaper in the long run. I know in Cabo taxis can cost about $20 - $50 pp. Just talk with your TA about all options. It's definetly worth it!

I'm the one who's going to marry an idiot! Well , he's only an idiot about money. If I ask him to do something like put away laundry and he doesn't do it then I put my clothes away and his go on the floor. I work at our home based business in the morning from 8 - noon then I go to my regular job until 7:30 at night. If he was to say something like it's my job he'd have to duck pretty quick to get away from the baseball bat swinging at his head.

Found my OOT bags!
saltocoach replied to Betsy's topic in Wedding Registry, Wedding Gift Bags, and OOT bags
Thanks! I'm really not sure what JYSK stands for. It's a chain of stores in Canada that seem to sell a lot of stuff similar to Ikea but not on the same scale. Like I said, I didn't go in there looking for bags but I'm glad I did! -
I was wondeing if anyone has made their own guestbook pages? I really like the idea of guest having their own page and it seems like a really great way of preserving the memories. I've been googling templates and I've found a few styles that I really like and want to try. What type of paper do I use? Do I just use scrapbook paper from a craft store like Michael's or do I need something else? Please keep in mind that I am not crafty at all but I thought I'd take a swing at it.
