We went to Dreams Cancun last November and the weather was fantastic. It was hot and sunny with no rain. I don't know about January, though - we went to Grand Bahia in April of 2008 and the weather was really good then, too! Maybe we've just been really lucky!

That's what we are going to do too! We'll send out STD's that say Mexico - whatever week in January. Mostly so we don't have to pick the resort right away - next January is a long way away so we want to have a better idea of what people's situations are, prices, etc. Also, we are getting married at city hall first - that way we'll have more leeway regarding the actual wedding date.

Ooh - Congrats! We stayed at Bahia Principe Akumal in 2007 and it was fantastic. Apparently the Akumal side is newer than the Tulum side. Our room had an ocean view and it was right in front of the water, but it was kind of a long walk to get to a swimming area. One other detail I have heard - if you want to use the gazebo at Tulum - you have to stay on the Tulum side.
